KitNipBox Subscription Box- May Review

KitNip Subscription Box – May ReviewKitNip Box May 2015If you know me/us or have read this blog in the past you probably know how much I/we love our Muggles. Our two Muggles are also the most playful cats we know or have been around. We thought that by now the energy levels in the house would diminish as kitten-hood gets further from them, but that is not the case. Murfee especially acts like he did at 9 weeks old, which makes for an always awake, parkouring, trouble causing combination of a cat. Maggee is starting to show signs of slowing, except where treats and toys are concerned.

The bonus for us is that with all the energy comes many fun moments to play with them, which we do quite often. When the cats were little we read that it was important to give indoor cats as much stimulation as possible since they are stuck inside and unable to explore outside. We really took this to heart as pet owners and the result is a feline friendly home that has sleeping spots, scratch spots (homemade in some cases) and more toys than 2 cats ever would need.

Being a review blogger gives me chances to review monthly gift box subscriptions, including this months KitNipBox. The theme for this month is “Meow Vegas” and they teamed up with Noahs Animal House of Las Vegas to donate a portion of their May proceeds to assist on the grounds of Nevada’s largest crisis shelter.

There were a lot of goodies in this months KitNipBox Multiple Cat Box, including the following:

Golden Girl Granola Review and Giveaway

Golden Girl Granola Review and Giveaway

Golden Girl Granola version 2When you generally think of granola a couple of adjectives come to mind: outdoors, natural, healthy and durable. I love having simple granola snacks in my house despite being less than an outdoors person. There is nothing simpler then a bag of healthy tasty granola for an afternoon snack. Granola is just as versatile as it is tasty and this granola from a family run business in Shirley, MA is no exception.

The benefit of review blogging is being given the opportunity to try different types of the snacks and products I already enjoy. All the while supporting a small family run business and product, such as Golden Girl Granola. I was graciously sent 4 bags of my choosing to sample. The ones I chose were Bluesberry, Chocolate Decadence, Home Sweet Honey and Forest Maple. The other flavors I did not choose were Creative Cranberry, Truly Tropical and The Original. A 14 oz bag is available for $7.50 and they also have a 12 pack of 3 oz package’s available for $36.00.

I feel as though we have been light on the admissions around here so thought it was a great time to admit to you all that we are a sweet house. At times I wonder if our house has more sweets than proteins.  We love cookies, cakes, brownies, and any combination of those that a person can dream of.

In our constant pursuit for healthier versions of the snacks and treats that we love so much we were given the opportunity to sample a couple of Enjoy Life Food’s cookies. We sampled the Soft Baked Snickerdoodles and the Vanilla Honey Grahams.

Enjoying Tea Review and Giveaway

 Enjoying Tea Review and Giveaway

Enjoying Tea Variety Sample and Smart Tea MakerDrinking tea is something I have done since I was in my mid teens. Tea is one of those things that help me relax after a long day, or during the less pleasant times of the month I encounter.

I drink iced tea throughout the day but rarely have hot tea. This has begun to change as I get older, and find a cup before bed is quite relaxing. I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to the use the Smart Tea Maker to brew the tea sampler they sent to me.

I was able to sample the Variety Sampler, which includes the following flavors:Enjoying Tea Variety Sampler

BuddhiBox Monthly Subscription Review – April Box

BuddhiBox Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – April Box

20150225_171318Calm, Peaceful and Serene, these are all words I would use to describe yoga but not myself. I love that I get this monthly box of calm and peacefulness in my mailbox.

April BuddhiBoxA couple of months ago I had the opportunity to review the February BuddhiBox (click here to see that review) and was lucky enough to have a chance to review the new April box.

When I opened the box I was again greeted by wonderfully folded green tissue paper and 3 cardboard information cards sealed with a sticker. One card had the “Goddess Pose” pose that shows the pose as well as the benefits and cautions when using that pose. There was a recipe for a “Blueberrry Bliss Goddess Bars” that is made using only 4 ingredients (coconut, blueberries, maple syrup and vanilla beans). The final information card included was a box content listing and the following quote:

I bow to all woman. To our strength, to our softness, to our wisdom, to our beauty. – Elena Brower

My Social Book Review

My Social BookMy Social Book Review

I am a nostalgic person. I like to receive cards with photos instead of the digital alternatives that are overtaking our inboxes instead of a our mailboxes. With this intense case of nostalgia I found my perfect creative outlet in scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is a very tangible craft, from the paper to the embellishments it is full of color, dimension and texture. On the other side of that nostalgia coin sits Facebook. Facebook has become a digital diary and photo album. What I normally do is print the appropriate section of Facebook for inclusion in my Scrapbooks, which is hard to incorporate at times.

I have always thought that if there was an easy way to print these status updates and comments, this would make my Scrapbooks even more dynamic. While looking for a solution to this rapidly increasing problem I discovered My Social Book.

My Social BookMy Social Book is basically a print out of your Facebook Pages. They take the photos and comments and print them into a bound book that can be either hard cover or soft cover. When you review your book you can decide what dates you want to include in the book.

The Honest Kitchen Cat Food Review

The Honest Kitchen Cat Food Review

The word Honest has been used a lot recently with its inclusion in company names. I think that this is 20150403_201546because the word “honest” evokes trust, warmth and a feeling that, despite being totally different people, you are friends. I think that at times, with the wrong intentions, this can be used to take advantage of the consumer. As regular readers may already know I am a skeptical person by nature and do not easily trust, especially companies. The Honest Kitchen has began to earn my trust, and replace some of the skepticism I currently have against pet food companies.

I love my cats, Maggee and Murfee, they are my husband and I’s buddies and we want them to live the best life they can, for as long as they can. With my advancing age and my own current awareness to what my food is made of, it got me thinking about what my feline family eats.

I had heard about The Honest Kitchen’s cat food while I was at the local family owned pet store while chatting with a fellow animal lover. I wanted something that was made from human grade ingredients and contained no chemical preservatives, which I thought did not exist. I was wrong, The Honest Kitchen cat food is made from 100% FDA human grade ingredients, they use Organic products when they are able to and they use ZERO ingredients from China. Many ingredients are imported internationally such as the chicken they use is a free range variety from Petaluma in California, they use line caught wild Haddock and kelp from Iceland, the quinoa is fair trade from Bolivia, the Organic coconuts are from Thailand and the basil and parsley are grown and imported from Egypt.

Mamma Chia Vitality Granola – 3 Flavors – Review

20150225_153530Granola, in my taste, can be a hit or a miss. There are many reasons that contribute to this sometimes off the target snack, such as ratio of items included in the mix and if the dominating flavor is overwhelmingly powerful or subtle. The dominant flavor should be at the forefront but not at the expense of the other ingredients.

In December of 2014 I reviewed Mamma Chia’s Vitality Beverages (see review here). Since that first review they have released a few new products including an Energy Drink and Chia packed granola.

Truwhip Review and Giveaway!!

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge. This in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Truwhip Review and Giveaway!

truwhipI am a Cool Whip girl, in my taste buds Cool Whip finds its home – anything else can not compare to my beloved whipped topping. To replace or find a substitute was not a option, and really not a thought that was based in reality. My reality was about to change one fateful day I was in my local natural food store and I was perusing the freezer treat isle and saw Truwhip.

If I am being honest, I had no idea there was a healthy alternative available, so it got my attention. When I flipped the 10oz tub around to check the nutritional facts, I was surprised by what I saw: 100% natural, Non GMO certified, No Hi-fructose corn syrup, no hydrogenated oils, Gluten free, Certified Kosher and 0 grams of trans fat per serving. This was a different product than the unhealthy alternative my taste buds had come to love so much.

I got the regular Truwhip as opposed to the Skinny version to try. Truwhip’s directions recommend that you leave it unopened in the refrigerator for 4 hours to thaw. I could not wait the recommended 4 hours, and dug in the frozen whipped treat. The best description I can give you is it has a marshmallow fluff type consistency and taste. The consistency was the same after the allotted 4 hours defrost, as well as the marshmallow fluff taste. There was an after taste, although hard to describe, not unpleasant by any means.

Would I purchase this again? Honestly that would depend if my health conscious sister-in- law was coming over, or my hydrogenated oil loving friends. If it is for me, I will opt for the occasional Truwhip tub, I mean after all who is to tell my taste buds not to go home?

If you would like to check out Truwhip for yourself, click here. It is available at most natural health food stores as well as Kroger stores and WalMarts.
