Completed 5d Project: Yarn Cat

The Latest Finish – Yarn Cat – Diamond Painting

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

Being a cat person and a crafty person when I saw this adorable cat in a suitcase of yarn I knew it would be the perfect addition to my future craft room.

This past week I decided to take the couple hours left and complete this dragon, and I am so glad I did. This is a big diamond painting measuring in at a large 60cm by 45cm.

Now, as always, what color frame should I use?

The Latest Finish – Titanic – Diamond Painting

Ever since the movie Titanic came out I have been fascinated by the lore and history of this mighty “unsinkable” ship. When I saw this Titanic Diamond Painting I knew I had to create it.

This past week I decided to take the couple hours left and complete this project and I am so glad I did. This is a big diamond painting measuring in at a large 50 by 60 cm. The plan is to find a suitable frame and put where I watch movies, and read.

Now, as always, what color frame should I use?

Starting 2019 with “Intention and Execution”

2019: The Year of “INTENTION and EXECUTION”

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

Another year has come and gone – granted my 2018 was NOTHING like I expected and ended like it began, quiet.

In previous years I have never really made “resolutions” when the new year comes. There are a couple reasons for this, one being I am never able to keep them going and by February, I have all but forgotten them.

Since so much has changed in my life – different house, taking over care of Meadow (the dog) and loosing my father, who was my best friend, I decided to make this year different.

I decided to choose a word that will define this coming year – Intention. Why did I chose this word of all the millions of words out there? The answer is actually quite simple – I always “intend” to do things such as crafts, travel, blogging, seeing friends and family but it never happens. My intention is there, with a lack of execution. In the back of my mind I wish to do these things but I just do not get there.

So, for 2019 I decided that INTENTION & EXECUTION would be the goal.

Completed 5d Project: Mythical Dragon

The Latest Finish – Mythical Dragon – Diamond Painting

This diamond painting was sent to me by Needleart World, and may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

There is nothing about this Mythical Dragon that I do not like – the colors, the ball, the whole thing is just spectacular. I originally started this when I was watching Game of Thrones, and then my father got sick and while I was close to finishing, it just did not happen.

This past week I decided to take the couple hours left and complete this dragon, and I am so glad I did. This is a big diamond painting measuring in at a large 22.5 inches X 19. 25 inches. The plan is to find a suitable frame and put where I watch movies, it seems very mythical and movie like to me.

Now, as always, what color frame should I use?

Completed 5d Project: Chipmunks Eating Corn

The Latest Finish – Chipmunks Eating Corn – Diamond Painting

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

When I saw these Chipmunks Eating Corn I immediately thought it would be so cute in a dining area, or kitchen. I will say that the level of detail on the corn completely surprised me. This has 44 colors, and over 46,400 beads, making this very detailed. This  measures 27 inches x 19 inches (or 70cm x 50cm) and is the perfect size with the detail included.

The colors and the detail reminds me of summer corn, and this was just a lot of fun to work on. I started it November 23rd, and worked on it through the Thanksgiving weekend, then I worked on it a bit less while i focused on other projects, but began this past week, and managed to finish it one month from when I started it making the completion date 12/23/2018.

Now what color frame should I use?

The Latest Finish – Pink Dress Girl  – Diamond Painting

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

There was something childlike when I saw this, that i knew it would go well in a guest room. When I saw this Girl in the Pink Dress and the pink in the dress I had to complete her. I had started this a couple months ago and just picked her up this weekend for the finish. This  measures a nice 16 by 20, with little extra for matting.

Completed 5d Project: Colorful Owl

The Latest Finish – Colorful Owl  – Diamond Painting

This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the post to follow and all opinions are my own.

I have always been attracted to color and so when I saw this Colorful Owl and his myriad of colors, I knew I had to complete him. I had started this a couple months ago and just picked him up this weekend for the finish. While it was simpler than many of my other diamond painting undertakings, it was a nice to be done so quick. This is smaller and measures a nice 8 by 10, with some room in the blue for framing and matting.

When my father was a pilot he would refere to himself as “The Flying Ace” and this Snoopy cartoon was plastered randomly throughout our house. This piece is in his honor and plan to have it framed. This is The Snoopy as the Flying Ace and 55cm by 55cm.

Jason’s Journey: Jason is Jason Minus One Leg

When It Rains, It Does Pour – Minus One Leg, Plus One Life

I know I have gone a bit silent the past couple weeks for good reason and now that Jason has announced the news, I share with you all what has been happening the past couple weeks.

Right before my dads celebration of life Jason was coming down the stairs at my father’s house where we are now living and slipped + sprained his ankle. At the time we got him a boot and crutches and he started to recover albeit very slowly.

The next morning he was scheduled to return to work and as he approached the car he fell again telling me he lost his balance while knowing it might be a bit more serious but thinking he would heal.

A couple of days passed and on Wednesday he had apparently passed out in bathroom that afternoon/evening after he saw the injuries he sustained. After about 8 hours upstairs I headed down stairs since I had not heard noise in a while and when I went down I noticed he was slurring a bit and not very alert, but I chalked it up to him having no fluids and being suddenly woken up in a bathroom.

Later that night he saw a small black mark on his foot with something sticking out, which turned out to be bone. As I slept he came in and out of consciousness and spent entire night in the small bathroom. As it turns out he felt little pain though due to undiagnosed type 2 diabetes.

When I awoke that am, I made a promise to the pets to call 911 if needed, and that is exactly what happened. He was taken to the local Emergency Room and as it turns out he had necrotizing fasciitis (flesh-eating disorder), MRSA and due to the high blood sugars (in the upper 600’s) he was like a candy cane for the infection.

There I had to make the hard decision for them to take Jason’s leg to save his life. They removed his leg to below the knee at our local hospital but due to the serious bugs he had and with the infection still growing he was rushed to the local trauma hospital where an amazing trauma team amputated above the knee leaving about 15 inches of his leg for a prosthetic down the line.

There is no doubt that the trauma doctor saved Jason’s life – once he arrived at ICU the doctor was there, and ready to do what had to be done to save Jason while keeping calm and making me calm in the process. There is no doubt that the trauma team at saved his life. As it turns out he was within hours of death (4-8 hours is what i had heard from numerous doctors).

For the next three days Jason was medically knocked out and unconscious until that Sunday when they awoke him. One of the best moments was hearing his voice strong and not slurring, a good moment in lots of stress.

It has been 18 days, and while we have a long hard road ahead and he is not ashamed, nor embarrassed about this situation. His one wish is that everyone take care of yourselves and remember that we are not invincible and especially as we age. If you feel something is off with your body have it checked out, and trust your instincts.

Jason also wants to let people know to be your own health advocate. He doesn’t want people to feel bad for him as he is not going to allow himself to do so. He is looking forward to the hard work, as nothing gained is ever easy. He is tough mentally, and knows that he will have ups and downs. Jason is ready to meet these challenges with a renewed sense of self-worth and he is on the right side of the dirt. First step complete!

Today he starts a new journey in his recovery and begins learning how to live with one leg and I will be sharing this amputation journey with you all, as well as all the new foods that we will be trying with his new diabetic diagnosis.

Do you have any questions about a above the knee amputation or being newly diagnosed with diabetes – please ask!
