As a crafter, one of the crafts that is in my bag-of-tricks is sewing. I love the idea that I can take a flat piece of fabric and within a couple of hours, create something useful for human, k-9 or feline and the February 2019Quilty Box is perfect for that exact purpose. Continue reading →

Brush Pen Lettering Practice Book: Modern Caligraphy Drills, Measured Guidlines and Practice Shees to Perfect Your Basic Strokes, Letterforms and Words Review + Giveaway
As much as I love blogging there is another thing I love to do – write and send cards to loved ones, especially during the holidays when I am sending cards to loved ones.
I believe that the art of handwriting is slowly being eliminated from the skills people hold. Instead of being able to do clean brush lettering, people strive to have the most words typed from their smart phones.
Each year I write cards and notes, and each year I strive to make my handwriting better. I am always looking for books and step-by-step instructions to extend those skills. When I recently I received a copy of Brush Pen Lettering Practice Book: Modern Calligraphy Drills, Measured Guidelines, and Practice Sheets to Perfect Your Basic Strokes, Letterforms and Words by Grace Song for review I was excited to perfect my abilities for future cards with worksheets.

It has been brought to my attention that while I am talented in certain areas, drawing is not one of them. I am always trying to expand my hand and learn to draw, so when I saw the Scratch & Create: Scratch and Draw Patterns Book I was intrigued.
The Scratch & Create: Scratch and Draw Patterns Book is a 20 page book that has an image on one side, and a scratchable surface on the other side in which you “scratch” the image. There are spirals, tangles, and geometric patterns that have simple lines and shapes. The illustration on the facing scratch-off page gets scratched off with the specialized stylus tool to reveal a contrasting background to the color on the page.
Each page is perforated so you may keep or gift your image. I will say if you are looking for an easy image to create, this book may not be for you – it is for more advanced drawers but that is not to say it is difficult, just takes more a drawing hand. If you have a fan of drawing in your life this would be a great gift to challenge and expand their abilities.

Each quarter I receive a box from the New Hope Network full of natural products that range from personal care, supplements, snacks and hemp based products. This quarters box was full of great items which included a couple of my favorites – Charlotte’s Web products, Country Archer Jerky and PepPod Energy Tablets to name a few. The best way to describe this box is that it is a small sampling of the Natural Products Expo and the great companies that attend.
Gift Guide: The Art of Doodle Words – Turn Your Everyday Doodles Into Cute Hand Lettering
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Race Point Publishing. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
I am doodler, I always have been. My drawing skills leave something to be desired but my handwriting has always been on point, so really developing doodles from there is a simple proposition.
The book starts with a simple word and the books shows you how to transform the word into doodles using simple lines and cute sketches. The book also shows you how to do the doodle in reverse, starting with a doodle and turning it into a cute illustration of letters and words.
The Art of Doodle Words also provides examples of the letters written in different styles such as cursive, block, and slanted to name a few. Each word is broken down into three steps that result in creative words that can be used in cards and letters.
