2 Years .. 3 Lessons I have Learned Since I Lost My Grandma

gramma-in-1937Today marks the 2 year anniversary of the loss of my grandmother – Shirley. This was my father’s mother and the most consistent female in my life. Since I grew up with a single father, my grandmother was the closest female and the most constant in my life. As I look back she never missed an event, or special moment in my life despite having 6 other grandchildren to think about. There was little that would stop her, as we discovered when despite being sick, and having dental pain she still came to our wedding BBQ about a year before she passed!

Sadly with the loss of my grandmother came many emotions and feelings that I did not know I would feel . The following are 3 things I have learned since her passing ..

My Social Book Review

I am a nostalgic person. I like to receive cards with photos instead of the digital alternatives that are overtaking our inboxes instead of a our mailboxes. With this intense case of nostalgia I found my perfect creative outlet in scrapbooking. Scrapbooking is a very tangible craft, from the paper to the embellishments it is full of color, dimension and texture. On the other side of that nostalgia coin sits Facebook. Facebook has become a digital diary and photo album. What I normally do is print the appropriate section of Facebook for inclusion in my Scrapbooks, which is hard to incorporate at times.

I have always thought that if there was an easy way to print these status updates and comments, this would make my Scrapbooks even more dynamic. While looking for a solution to this rapidly increasing problem I discovered My Social Book.

My Social BookMy Social Book is basically a print out of your Facebook Pages. They take the photos and comments and print them into a bound book that can be either hard cover or soft cover. When you review your book you can decide what dates you want to include in the book.
