Earnest Eats Blueberry Chia Cup Giveaway

Earnest Eats Blueberry Chia Cup Giveaway

Blueberry Close upI don’t know about you but breakfast and I have a love hate relationship. I love the concept of breakfast much more than sitting and eating the breakfast.

When I was young my father would take my friends and I to breakfast each Saturday morning – we began to look forward to this ritual and became a tradition for sleep overs. I think that my friends would spend the night just for the Saturday morning breakfast.

Since I do not have the time I used to but still need a healthy breakfast to start my day I look for the most punch in a cup. About a year ago I discovered the Superfood known as Chia, and once combined with whole oats this becomes a healthy and energizing breakfast. In my exploration of chia, I came across Earnest Eats and their Chia Cups and now you can win some for your morning routine.

This is new for me as prior to the starting of this blog I had not been someone who was open to trying new items. I am very proud to say that I now not only try different items, but I actively seek out these opportunities to try something new. I have discovered many wonderfully yummy items and I look forward to each opportunity to sample these items.

I have had the opportunity in the past to review previous World of Munchies boxes, they are the perfect way to sample international snacks and sweets without the commitment. One of the offerings of boxes that they have is called the Snack Attack box. Each Snack Attack box you will receive 7-9 items in each box, selected from various international snacks. Gary Poppins Popcorn Review

Gary Poppins Popcorn Review and Giveaway

Gary Poppins 6 VarietyWhen I was a senior in high school I worked at a movie theater. There were a couple perks to this job including getting to see movies without having to pay and endless amounts of popcorn.

Now to most people this would be their idea of heaven but there were 2 problems for me. The first being that I would go home each night smelling like popped popcorn with butter. Sadly, on days I worked an 8 hour shift, I smelled like I had bathed in popcorn. The second problem was that I really got tired of the same old popcorn day in and day out. There was little variance in the flavoring and butter can wear on the taste buds.

During those long shifts, and days I wished that I could add a flavor to my popcorn – anything would have been better than butter. Now-a-days the idea of plain butter popcorn is as old as I was when I was a theater employee and popcorn companies like Gary Poppins Popcorn is making a “pop” in the popcorn market.

Mrs. Thinster’s Toasted Coconut Cookie Thins Review

Mrs. Thinster’s: Toasted Coconut  Cookie Thins Review and Giveaway

Coconut Crisps - Mrs ThinstersIt has been mentioned in the past that we are dessert people in my house. Up until recently each night Jason and I would make a macerated fruit mixture, atop a crunchy bottom, homemade whipped cream and crunchy topping.

Typically when we have these the “go-to” crunchy bottom is a selection of Mrs. Thinsters Cookie or Waffle Cookies. We have made this dessert many times, and for our friends and loved ones. One night while we were sitting enjoying an evening and dessert with friends, it was suggested that we added a toasted coconut to the top.

The topic of luck and fate is spoken of often on this blog, and this is no exception. As I was preparing to toast up some coconuts, I heard that my “go-to” crunchy element was now available in toasted coconut  in the form of Mrs. Thinsters Cookie Thins in Toasted Coconut.

True Gentleman Jerky Review

True Gentleman Jerky Review and Giveaway

True Jerky on displayA funny thing has stated happening recently. My taste buds are not what they once where – let me explain further. The first thing that started happening was that I have noticed a spike in the increase of water I consume. I have never been a large water drinker, but Jason is, and it is starting rubbing off on me.

The second thing that has happened is that I can taste a pure food versus a food full of preservatives. Instead of the preservative laden snacks I used to eat, I have discovered that the preservative free food is much more flavorful. I have begun to learn the value of this quality where snack foods are concerned.

The quest for healthier snack foods was on my mind when I recently attended the Natural Expo West Show in Anaheim. I decided to attempt to focus my efforts when I was walking and came upon True Gentlemens Jerky. The thing that got my attention were the  unique flavors that I had not seen before.

Nick’s Stick’s Spring 2016 Giveaway

Nick’s Stick’s 2016 “Meat” Spring Giveaway

With the arrival of Spring comes the coveted and anticipated Spring Break week. As young people Jason and I spend our spring breaks differently. Jason’s days consisted of snake hunting (apparently there were special “snake hunting” pants), playing of the Atari 2600 and of course bike riding with friends and being outside from sun up to sun down. As a girl, I spent my spring breaks hosting my friends for slumber parties, cookie baking and bus trips to the mall.

On the surface it would appear that a snake hunting boy’s boy and a slumber party loving girl would have nothing in common. The fact is that we both engaged in activities in which quick easy snacks were preferred over complicated snacks.

As you embark on your ideal spring break, we are offering a dozen Nick’s Sticks to one reader!

Milton’s Gluten Free Baked Chips Review

Milton’s Gluten Free Baked Chips Review & Giveaway

Miltons 6 pack baked chipsWhen i was growing up my father loved a good Jewish deli, which were in short supply here in San Diego. The closest deli was no less than 40 minutes from our home, and honestly out of the question most days despite his cravings. Some time in my teens a new restaurant popped up that was only about 20 minutes from out house, and we began patronizing this deli.

Flash forward 20 plus years later and what started out as selling bread out of the store front’s become a household name -Milton’s/Milton’s Craft Bakers. Going into this restaurant is a treat, and as soon as you step down the stairs and enter the front area you are met with pastries and bread. The sandwiches are just as good as a Jewish deli should be, and there are pickles on the table.

When I started this blog I never imagined that I would be come familiar with gluten-free brands, and that I would be watching if companies ventured down the gluten-free path. Yesterday I was in the store doing our weekly shipping and i noticed that many companies are starting to offer gluten-free alternatives to their gluten filled counterparts. Milton’s has continues the gluten-free wave with the arrival of Milton’s Gluten Free Baked Chips that come in 6 varieties and are crispy as well as tasty!

Crafted Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review

Crafted Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – 1st Box

Crafted Gluten Free Upon OpeningOne of the things that I love about monthly boxes is the constant sampling of items and the opportunity to support a business that otherwise may go unknown.

The other thing that I really love about monthly boxes are that many times they are supporting the small businesses by providing product but may times the box itself is a small business themselves. I appreciate local items and the reason for this is that i live in a small town within a large city and to keep the appeal and the “funkiness” of our town, small business must prevail. Even my husband works for a small local business, and while part of a multi-location company, they are also supporters of other small business.

The way I see it, for the cycle of commerce to spin, all spokes must be turning at once. It takes companies and monthly boxes to assist in bringing awareness and support to other small companies and it takes consumers purchasing the boxes supporting the small companies. It all spins and all comes back together with the overriding theme of support.

I love when I am approached by a company or box subscription service that I have not previously heard of. I also love when I receive the box and it exceeds my expectations. I recently received the first months box from Crafted Gluten Free. Let me just say that this is not your typical box offering. The first box you will receive from Crafted Gluten Free will include 9 full size items that will range from snacks, to main dish to dessert.

Crafted Gluten Free was generous enough to send me the first  box that you will typically receive to sample and review.
