Gourmet Nuts Review and Giveaway

Gourmet Nut 3 items plus powerupWe are a snack house. I can try to deny it, but the reality of the situation is that we like our snacks. I do have admit that there has been an evolution of our snacks during Jason and I’s time together. When we started dating we would purchase a lot of processed foods and sugary drinks. I think that this was due to the home we were living in was with others, and having such factors as opposing schedules and kitchen restrictions. Shortly after we moved into our first home together and we began to realize that we could eat healthier without the preservatives. This period is marked with a learning curve and a lot of trying new things.

This latest evolution of our snacking is the most exciting and quite possibly the healthiest. When we moved to our current house it was special because it was the first house we bought. With the house came a invigoration to cook and to make our own snacks. This latest progression has been a bit slower to catch on (we like our convenience) but far more fulfilling (nutritiously and emotionally). We tend to like our own food before the previously enjoyed fast food and sugar filled snacks.

We knew we wanted healthy, natural and few preservatives and sugars as possible when we began our transition. In the preparation of this new culinary phase of our lives we came upon Gourmet Nut. Gourmet Nut was created when a bunch of friends got together and discussed the lack of high quality, everyday gourmet snacks. People who love good food as much as we are learning to, that was something that I can support.

Good Earth Beauty Body Wash Review

Good Earth Beauty Body Wash Review and GiveawayChocolate Amour by Good Earth Beauty

We all like to think we are the only girl in our guys lives, but prior to my entrance into Jason’s life he grew up with 2 sisters (both younger than him). Lucky for him there was a clear delineation of bathrooms in his parents house. Due to this clear line being drawn and the age difference he did not learn about women and their love of body washes until he moved in with a couple of female roommates. Apparently they were Guinness record holders when it came to body wash/beauty products and so not much surprises him now. It has been discovered that I too love body washes, so when I had the chance to try a new one I did.

I recently tried Good Earth Beauty’s Chocolate Amour 8 ounce pump body wash. I love chocolate as much as I love body washes (well maybe I love chocolate a little more) so the combination of the two is almost a guaranteed home run.

The Good Earth Beauty’s Chocolate Amour body wash is made of organic and natural ingredients such as an organic herbal infusion, organic Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, Cocomide DEA (from coconuts), apricot kernel oil, organic jojoba oil, rosemary, organic chamomile, coconut milk, honey, papaya enzymes, royal jelly, glycerin and radish root ferment (used for a natural preservative). This is handmade in the United States of America and this body wash is made in collaboration with M.O.D Perfumery (the M.O.D. stands for Made On Demand).

FiveFingerTees.com Review

FiveFingerTees.com Review and Giveaway

Two Shirts Five Finger TeesIt is no secret that us bloggers spend many hours in front of our computers. This constant state of sitting makes the need for comfortable clothes almost a work uniform. My personal uniform is comfortable pants and a t-shirt, with a comfy pair of socks. The reason for this level of comfort is when you are sitting for a majority of the day, you want to be as comfortable as possible. I am always on the lookout for additions to my collection of comfortable clothes.

I recently happened upon FiveFingerTees.com and I have to say WOW! The first thing I noticed was the cartoon theme on the top banner. The fun banner let me know immediately that I had happened upon a fun website. I was right, they have so many shirts that I guarantee you will not be able to choose just one.

Five Finger Tees offers a wide (and I mean WIDE) variety of movie, television, sports, political, music, animal, zombie, video game and pop-culture t-shirts. There are many other varieties available and they even have humorous holiday shirts. The company is based in Boston Massachusetts and is completely family owned and operated.

My Paper Pumpkin August 2015 Kit Review and Giveaway

My Paper Pumpkin August 2015

This past holiday season we were at our cousins house, as he has recently taken over as official Christmas Eve host. While we were getting drinks I looked up and discovered the cutest tins with chalk writing announcing its contents. I mentioned that I loved the kitchen decorations and the hostess mentioned she was loving the chalk look and she wanted to expand upon it. When I received the August My Paper Pumpkin kit I was immediately brought back to that conversation.

I had the chance to review My Paper Pumpkin’s kit box’s previous months box (click here). I was thrilled to be given the chance to review this months box as well. The theme for August was called “Chalk It Up To Love”.

Sauce Goddess: Rubs and Sauce Review

Sauce Goddess: Rubs and Sauce Review and Giveaway

Sauce Goddess Two ProductI am local girl, I was raised in the North County area of San Diego. I love to support local companies and see them grow. As we venture further into this cooking adventure I find myself trying sauces and rubs that I might not have considered using in the past. This includes finding sauces and rubs locally made with quality ingredients.

I found this magic combination of local and quality when I came upon Sauce Goddess. Sauce Goddess is small female owned business in San Diego. The company started in 2009 with 2 sauces and has grown into a national sauce company. The company tagline is “If you don’t lick your fingers, someone else will” is true from the standpoint I did lick my fingers. Sauce Goddess was generous enough to send us 2 sauces.

SeaBuckWonders Body Lotion

My favorite part of having this outlet to review items is the ability to review items that people may or may not know about. I feel a sense of pride when I find something that I can not wait to share with you. The other favorite part of reviewing is learning about the ingredients, the processes and the people behind the products. I have discovered another such product that I felt compelled to share with you: SeaBuck Wonders Himalayan Sea Buckthorn Facial Cleanser and Body Lotion.

Kitty Kush Catnip Review and Giveaway

There is little to no doubt that our Murfee likes catnip and I will admit that we indulge him. I have attempted to grow my own for him, but each time something unexpected happens to the crop. The first time we had a heat wave with wind and before I knew it the plastic pot disappeared. The second time we almost had a full crop and then magically it was gone. I am not sure if a neighborhood cat stole it, ate it or the magical catnip trolls took it. This last time life got in the way and I just plain forgot to give it the needed water and love it needed.

We had read that catnip does not affect cats under 9 months old, or until they reach sexual maturity, so we waited until he was about a year old. Ever since the introduction was made, Murfee and catnip are two peas in a pod. I recently came across a new product called “Kitty Kush Catnip” that resembles a salt grinder but grinds cat nip instead!

Kitty Kush Catnip SpokescatsThe basic idea behind this product is that it comes prepacked with cat nip pellets that are infused with essential oils and compacted together. When you want to give your kitty some catnip all you do is turn the built in grinder much like you would turn a salt grinder. A little goes a long way due to the concentrated nature of this product – I literally did less then one full turn for Murfee and that was enough.

Knock Knock Sticky Signs Review

Knock Knock Sticky Signs Review & Giveaway

There was a store in my town growing up that sold novelty and gag gift items. This store was my go to store for birthday and holiday gifts for many years. Sometime in the 1990’s the store closed, probably from declining sales and the shift to an online world. I loved this store despite not really understanding all the “double entendre’s” and the plays on words. Due to all the gag gifts, balloons and toys available this was my favorite store in town.

I have missed this store as I have gotten older and have wished there was a place to get these type of items. My wishing can finally end in that I have found an online version of the store of my youth – Knock Knock (isn’t the name so appropriate?).

Knock Knock was created in 2002 with the mission of creating witty design driven products. The products combine humor, function and organization with a touch of aesthetic appeal.

I live in a city that has outlawed and banned the use of plastic bags. I am truly torn about this development as the plastic bags have their own use in a house with 2 cats but the environmental impact caused by these bags is hard to ignore. Being that I am in this plastic bag less town we have invested a good amount of money into different variation’s of the “recyclable/reusable” bag.

I recently was sent a 4 piece kit that helps add to our collection of recyclable bags. Colortime Crafts and Markers was generous enough to send me 1 “Recycle” tote bag and 3 fabric markers (Blue, Yellow and Green) for me to make my own bag. Colortime Crafts and Markers offers ready to color craft items as well as fabric markers. This allows kids and adults to decorate and personalize products themselves.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – July Box Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of GeekFuel.com. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – July 2015 ReviewGeek Fuel July 2015By now it is well known that I live in a geek household. I live with a Role Playing Gamer (RPG’er) and I have to admit that I am starting to become one myself. This is almost become a seamless transition into the dark side. I am a light happy person so being in and on the dark side is a bit different for me.

In my initiation over to the dark side there has been a learning curve. You may wonder what the learning curve entails. I discovered that the learning curve includes things such as the difference between a MMORPG and FPS, open world vs. linear story, side scrollers vs. adventure games and why experience points matter. Learning all this has been a little rough but I am happy to say I am starting to get it.

Since this induction into the geek world I appreciate all things geek and there are few things that pack as much geek punch as the monthly subscription box from Geek Fuel. I received the July themed Geek Fuel box and as I have been in previous months, I was pleasantly surprised. Also the July box was advertised as an entirely exclusive month and came as advertised. Included in this months boxes was the following:
