Frontier Soups Review

Frontier Soups: Corn Chowder and Tortilla Soup Review and Giveaway

Frontier Soups Tortilla and ChowderBeing a California girl the concept of cold winter nights mean something different to me than to other people. I did spend the first 6 years of my life in the mid-west and while I have faint memories of the cold, it is mostly memories made up of being told and reading what the weather was like.

There is a famous story in my family that occurred on my final plane ride to California. I was leaving Illinois at the end of December and as such was outfitted in a snow suit (a cute little red number with an apple on the upper right corner). When I got off the plane at Lindbergh Field in San Diego, despite the snow suit I knew I was in a different world.

Since i have long left my cold days behind me, as I have been a California Girl since the first step off the 737, I do love the cold. Despite this sunny and warm environment I am in, I long for cold nights. My favorite days involve rain, a footed onesie and a good bowl of soup! Lucky for me California is in the middle of a El Nino and rain is frequent for an otherwise dry state. Since I am a planner, I tend to stock my house and make sure I have soul warming foods.

SunButter: Sunflower Spread Review

SunButter: Smooth and Chunky Sunflower Butter Review and Giveaway

Sun Butter Crunchy and SmoothSunflowers are my favorite flower. I have been a fan of sunflowers since my mid 20’s. The problem is that I have a hard time purchasing these flowers because as beautiful as they are they do die, and once that process starts they lose what makes them unique. To solve this problem I have invested in silk sunflowers and filled my home with sunflower art.

Recently I was researching and learning about my favorite flower, and learned that the seeds can be used – which, since I am a fan of reducing, reusing and recycling, made me happy. I was lucky to be able to recently attend the Gluten Free & Allergen Friendly Expo in San Diego as well as The Natural Products Expo in Anaheim. At each of these shows I was lucky to be able, to not only speak with company representatives, but also sample SunButter Sunflower Spreads. After I sampled this alternative to traditional peanut butter I knew I wanted to write about them and share with all of you. buy bactroban online https://noprescriptionbuyonlinerxx.com/bactroban.html no prescription

Dr. Jacobs Naturals Review

Dr. Jacobs Naturals – Liquid Soap Review and Giveaway

Dr. Jacobs Naturals ProductsAbout 20 years ago I was suffering from some severe skin issues. This was very out of the realm of normal for me since I had made it through puberty with little acne, but plenty of awkwardness.

I was truly at a loss as to how to handle this new physical curve ball I had been dealt when my father offhandedly suggested that I try castile soap. As I went to the local drug store I was filled with a mix of excitement and trepidation – what if this literally made my problem worse. I purchased the bar and when home to see if this was the answer i needed. After about 3 days I had my answer – my skin was totally clear!

I questioned my father how he had this profound piece of knowledge, and asked if other people knew this secret. It was with a small chuckle and a exhale that he broke the news that, yes people did know about this miracle bar.

As I aged I have found the acne I get is more related to the food I eat and my current stress levels, and because of this I am a fan of castile soap now more than ever. One of my priorities when I attended the Natural Products Expo was to look for more castile soap based soaps. As I came upon Dr. Jacob Naturals I knew I wanted to sample and try their soaps.

Gary Poppins Popcorn Review

Gary Poppins Popcorn Review and Giveaway

Gary Poppins 6 VarietyWhen I was a senior in high school I worked at a movie theater. There were a couple perks to this job including getting to see movies without having to pay and endless amounts of popcorn.

Now to most people this would be their idea of heaven but there were 2 problems for me. The first being that I would go home each night smelling like popped popcorn with butter. Sadly, on days I worked an 8 hour shift, I smelled like I had bathed in popcorn. The second problem was that I really got tired of the same old popcorn day in and day out. There was little variance in the flavoring and butter can wear on the taste buds.

During those long shifts, and days I wished that I could add a flavor to my popcorn – anything would have been better than butter. Now-a-days the idea of plain butter popcorn is as old as I was when I was a theater employee and popcorn companies like Gary Poppins Popcorn is making a “pop” in the popcorn market.

Mrs. Thinster’s Toasted Coconut Cookie Thins Review

Mrs. Thinster’s: Toasted Coconut  Cookie Thins Review and Giveaway

Coconut Crisps - Mrs ThinstersIt has been mentioned in the past that we are dessert people in my house. Up until recently each night Jason and I would make a macerated fruit mixture, atop a crunchy bottom, homemade whipped cream and crunchy topping.

Typically when we have these the “go-to” crunchy bottom is a selection of Mrs. Thinsters Cookie or Waffle Cookies. We have made this dessert many times, and for our friends and loved ones. One night while we were sitting enjoying an evening and dessert with friends, it was suggested that we added a toasted coconut to the top.

The topic of luck and fate is spoken of often on this blog, and this is no exception. As I was preparing to toast up some coconuts, I heard that my “go-to” crunchy element was now available in toasted coconut  in the form of Mrs. Thinsters Cookie Thins in Toasted Coconut.

Crafted Gluten Free: Ultimate Cookie Box Review

Crafted Gluten Free – Ultimate Cookie Box Review and Giveaway

Crafted Cookie BoxWhen I was a young child I was called the “Cookie Monster” due to my love of cookies.

As I got older I moved on from store-bought cookies and began to make my own cookies. I would have slumber parties with my best friends and I would make cookies. I was recently gifted my teenage era cookbook, and each chapter is pristine and perfect – well not the cookie chapter. Even 20 years later there are dollops of butter grease and remnants of dried flour on those pages.

Now that I am even older, I find it easier to purchase pre-made cookies due to time constraints and adult responsibilities. I have difficulty finding a cookie as good as I can make. Since I have this insatiable urge for cookies it seemed only natural to review Crafted Gluten Free’s Ultimate Cookie Box.

This was not the first Crafted Gluten Free review I have done, as I have reviewed the first monthly box, but it was one of the sweetest.

BuddhiBox Monthly Subscription Review – January 2016 Box

BuddhiBox Monthly Subscription Review  – January 2016 Box

January 2016 Entire ContentsThe year was 2005 and an opportunity presented itself – a 2 week trip to Thailand. As history would show my traveling to a country in which a major tsunami had hit was cheaper than almost any other vacation destination. While in this foreign land I met the nicest people, went parasailing, rode an elephant and saw many temples. The temples ranged from gold, white and natural colors, but with one thing in common – the message conveyed.

The messages that are received are different for each person, but I felt love and acceptance. There are times in life that you look back on moments and wonder if that was really you that went through that particular moment. This can be running that 20 miles that you never imagines or flying over the oceans to travel to an unknown land. I believe that as much as these monks preach this message, it is the same of yoga – be yourself and be brave!

I recently received the January BuddhiBox and I am again pleased and thrilled. Earlier in the year, I had the opportunity to review previous boxes (click here) and they are always fun and an education in the yoga/healthy living lifestyle. The message is always one of compassion, and understanding and living a pure life.

This month I was pleasantly surprised to see a box redesign. The previous months boxes were a little thinner and placed in a larger box, this new box is sturdy and only one box is needed. I loved that a green crinkle wrap replaced the green tissue paper, but still retained the green theme. This month came with 3 cardboard information cards that are in full color and on thick glossy card stock. The first card was the Yoga pose of “Mountain Pose/Tadasana” that shows the pose in full color, as well as the benefits and directions about the pose. These pose cards are made especially for BuddhiBox by a company called Yogicards. There is a recipe for a “Roasted Tomato Soup” that is made using 9 fresh ingredients  The final information card included was a box manifest and on the other side the following quote:

Who knows, maybe the best hasn’t happened yet.  – Tristan Prettyman Continue reading

Crafted Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review

Crafted Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – 1st Box

Crafted Gluten Free Upon OpeningOne of the things that I love about monthly boxes is the constant sampling of items and the opportunity to support a business that otherwise may go unknown.

The other thing that I really love about monthly boxes are that many times they are supporting the small businesses by providing product but may times the box itself is a small business themselves. I appreciate local items and the reason for this is that i live in a small town within a large city and to keep the appeal and the “funkiness” of our town, small business must prevail. Even my husband works for a small local business, and while part of a multi-location company, they are also supporters of other small business.

The way I see it, for the cycle of commerce to spin, all spokes must be turning at once. It takes companies and monthly boxes to assist in bringing awareness and support to other small companies and it takes consumers purchasing the boxes supporting the small companies. It all spins and all comes back together with the overriding theme of support.

I love when I am approached by a company or box subscription service that I have not previously heard of. I also love when I receive the box and it exceeds my expectations. I recently received the first months box from Crafted Gluten Free. Let me just say that this is not your typical box offering. The first box you will receive from Crafted Gluten Free will include 9 full size items that will range from snacks, to main dish to dessert.

Crafted Gluten Free was generous enough to send me the first  box that you will typically receive to sample and review.

Crickers Crackers Review

Crickers Crackers: Cricket Flour Crackers Review & Giveaway

Cricket Crackers TrioRegular readers will know that many times I get my review items from items I see on television (what can I say, the television is on a lot around here with me being a blogger). One night Jason and I were watching a show called Food Fortunes and saw a company that was making crackers from crickets. All of a sudden Jason began to give me random cricket facts.

I will be honest when I tell you that I know little to nothing about crickets other than their 150 decibel noise that the make, which is the males mating call for the female. I decided to do some research about crickets and I learned a couple more interesting facts. One of the things that I learned was that you can hear a cricket chirp up to 500 meters away and they can

I have noticed a trend that is leaning towards the sustainable food, and the renewable nature of certain ingredients. When we saw crackers made from cricket flour we knew we had to try them. Crickers Crackers come in 3 varieties and are surprisingly tasty.

Zevia Zero Calorie Soda Review

Zevia Zero Calorie Soda Review and Giveaway

Zevia shiftedJason and I have a ritual each night – shortly after he arrives home we get our drinks for the night and each one of us has a Cherry Coke. This is a horrible habit and we know how bad it is for us. We pad that with a lot of water and even sports drinks, yet we know we have to change this habit soon!

I was speaking to my father about this predicament that we are in and the topic that arose was that the come down from the daily caffeine jolt would make us irritable and grumpy. I figure a little irritability in exchange of our health was a fair deal. We began to cut our daily coke out, and replaced it with milk, juices and other drinks. Admittedly, Jason still has a morning coffee and I still have an energy drink now and again, but we are on the path.

During the initial discussion with my father, he mentioned that he had discovered a new soda that had all the flavors I knew, without the sugar and preservatives. The company he discovered was Zevia Zero Calorie Soda, founded in Seattle Washington in 2007. I reached out to them for a review sample and they generously sent me a case including 2 cans of 12 different flavor’s.
