Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – April 2016 Review

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – April 2016 Review

April Showers Peaches and Petals April 2016 Box Contents Living in San Diego the concept of rain can be foreign to many residents. The biggest problem is that because wet road conditions are infrequent, when they do occur they bring the slickness to the surface.

When I was 16 I got in an accident on one of those rare rainy nights. Admittedly I was driving to fast for road conditions and the car did many flips and slammed into a brick wall. While my car did not survive, I did and I learned to respect the rain and road.

I never let the accident scare me from driving in the rain, and in fact now I love and look forward to the rain. I love the sound on my roof, and the rush as it sweeps down my gutters and onto the street. I love to watch it roll down the hill, like a stream missing fish. This love of the rain is not expressed often, despite weather forecasts saying otherwise.

Since it is April and I am missing my showers, I was very happy when I saw that the April Peaches and Petals box. The boxes contents all revolve around the “April Showers” theme and are appropriate, and useful while remaining in theme. Each month that I receive Peaches and Petals I am more impressed with the items included in the boxes.

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – March 2016 Review

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – March 2016 Review

Peaches and Petals Live Life in Color March 2016When I was a teenager I discovered the wonder of paint and the versatility. One day I was at the home improvement ship with my father and I saw the paint department. My father, never one to squash my creative spirit, told me I can purchase any color I wanted for my bedroom.

Lucky for my father, I never went through a black phase, and I always loved color. That simple act of creativity began a 10 year oddessy into paint colors and learning about the importance of primer when covering dark colors with light.

As I got older and moved out of my childhood bedroom I realized that it was not realistic to repaint each wall in my house. The problem was that I wanted color in my environment, so I began looking for cost-effective alternatives. Today I express my love of color in the knives on our counter, the plates we eat one, the pillowcases on our bed, the boxes we use as decorative storage and anything else where color is an option.

Since I love color so much, I could not wait to see the March Peaches and Petals box. Each month there is a full color postcard that gives a “teaser” about the next month. When I saw in February’s box March’s theme of “Live Life in Color”, I was excited. Each month Peaches and Petals is taking the concept of a monthly subscription box and sending a monthly treat to their subscribers.

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription Review: March/Spring 2016

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – March/Spring 2016

Cat Lady Box March-Spring 2016I recently made a discovery – Murfee HATES thunder. We are in the middle of a El Nino style rain here in California and with severe rain also comes thunder and lightning. One night Jason and I were sitting on our couch and we began hearing the tell-tale signs of thunder.

When we least expected it, the thunder clapped and all of a sudden Murfee’s eyes got large and he looked scared. Jason took it upon himself to try and comfort our little man, and out him in his lap. After discovering that this was little help, Jason grabbed a shirt with our scent on it and covered Murf. All of sudden the thunder clapped, and Murfee did not react – he felt secure under a shirt on Jason’s lap.

Cats are unique, and I think that part of our job as humans is to learn to read the signs our animals give us. Jason and I are complete cat people and we always want to learn to be better cat guardians where ever possible – every situation is a learning expierence. I, in particular, am a cat lady and I love to display my pride and love of all things feline.

Each month look forward to receiving a Cat Lady Box as it is the perfect addition to my cat filled life. To say that each box is “pawsome” is an understatement. Each month is better than the last, (see previous reviews here). The box exterior is printed with the logo and is almost a proud announcement of your Cat Lady status. Once the box is open, you are greeted with a black tissue with a sticker enclosing everything in the box. The box is packaged well, and there is space enough that items do not get smooshed and smashed together.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – March 2016 Review

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – March 2016 Review and Giveaway

Geek Fuel March 201640 minutes — that is how long it took for the 2016 San Diego Comic Convention to sell out. In 2015 the tickets sold out in just under 60 minutes and this is a standard every year. Each year the geek universe descends upon San Diego in amounts many, it is also a great time to people watch.

The annual convention is held downtown, and very close to a place flush with bars and restaurants. This makes for the perfect opportunities to people watch and to meet friends that are in from out-of-town. The people watching is always fun and always entertaining, and this is largely due to the amount of people who dress up.

I have always had an appreciation for the people who dress up, down to each detail.  Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription Box is a monthly reminder of this yearly convention. With the constant presence and reminders of the upcoming Batman and Superman I was eager to see Geek Fuels contribution. As with previous months I was eager to see what the red box contained and as usual I was not disappointed.

Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review and Giveaway – March 2016

Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review and Giveaway – March 2016

March Pet Treater BoxAs the months “march” on with Meadow, things are starting to fall into a nice rhythm for my father. I will be honest and say that when my father adopted Meadow I was unsure how he would do with the randomness a 9 week old puppy can bring.

The question has been raised about why I had such a concern. I will be honest and say that I know my father appreciates his sleep and even when I was a child he hated to be woken up. I knew that as Meadow adjusted to her new surroundings there would be an adjustment period for my father as well.

As time is showing us, as Meadow matures, the nighttime wake-up and barking are becoming less and less of an issue. Meadow now sleeps through the night and she does wake up early and wants to be let out, and these are met with smiles and acceptance. I am very happy to say she is becoming a happy and well-behaved best friend for my father.

I will be honest when I say that my favorite time of the month is when I receive the Pet Treater box. I love this time of month because I love to see Meadow’s progress and growth. I only live about 10 minutes from my furry sister, and I love she is so close. I have also learned the longer I am away, the more advanced she seems when I do see her again.

Crafted Gluten Free: Ultimate Cookie Box Review

Crafted Gluten Free – Ultimate Cookie Box Review and Giveaway

Crafted Cookie BoxWhen I was a young child I was called the “Cookie Monster” due to my love of cookies.

As I got older I moved on from store-bought cookies and began to make my own cookies. I would have slumber parties with my best friends and I would make cookies. I was recently gifted my teenage era cookbook, and each chapter is pristine and perfect – well not the cookie chapter. Even 20 years later there are dollops of butter grease and remnants of dried flour on those pages.

Now that I am even older, I find it easier to purchase pre-made cookies due to time constraints and adult responsibilities. I have difficulty finding a cookie as good as I can make. Since I have this insatiable urge for cookies it seemed only natural to review Crafted Gluten Free’s Ultimate Cookie Box.

This was not the first Crafted Gluten Free review I have done, as I have reviewed the first monthly box, but it was one of the sweetest.

The Hippie Hobby Box – DIY Book Page Gem Magnets Review

The Hippie Hobby Box: DIY Book Page Gem Magnets Review and Giveaway

Hippie Hobby DIY Gem Magnet KitI am a crafter. I have an entire room dedicated to my crafts, and despite my best efforts that is not enough at times. I tend to lean towards a couple different craft specialties including DIY’s. I love to up-cycle items and re-cycle items that are otherwise deemed unusable.

Due to my propensity to DIY and saving, there is an accumulation of items that are otherwise trash to others. I realize this makes it sound like I am hoarding trash, and that is not the case at all. I simply keep items such as wine corks, glass jars (although I limit myself to one banker’s box worth) as well as any boxes that can be re-covered and used as storage of my random items for “cycling”.

I have thought many times that a monthly box that utilized the spirit of up-cycling and re-cycled craft genre would be a lot of fun. I often speak of luck and this review has a little bit of luck included in that my idea was a reality in the form of The Hippie Hobby Box.

Gaia Collective – Moon Rituals in a Box Review

Gaia Collective Review and Giveaway – Virgo Moonbox

Virgo Moon Box ContentsI am going to let you all in on a secret about being a review blogger – most items I review on this blog are from people who have discovered this site from an internet search or word of mouth. I also get press release blasts about upcoming events and opportunities. Many of the opportunities that cross my path are not something that I normally would pursue myself, I love this aspect of what I do.

Despite the fact that I do not pursue certain opportunities, and often times am the pursued, I am always interested to see something new, and maybe, as I have mentioned in the past, find my new love. Sometimes the items I get are in my directory of comfortably, but others are outside my comfort zone – both are equally important though.

I mention all of this because this latest review for Gaia Collectives monthly Moonbox, while not in my normal realm of review was an interesting and unique box.

My Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Kit Review

My Paper Pumpkin – February 2016 Review and Giveaway

My Paper Pumpkin February 2016 KitEver since I was a child I have been hearing the nickname “sunshine” – my father would use it for dinner reservations. The reason that this became my fathers trademark name is that my maiden name is close to the “sunshine” nickname.

There is something really happy and positive about days the sunshine is out The way that the light dances around objects, and illuminates the otherwise dark area, Being able to use this nickname gives me a sense of happiness, and positivity.

As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, this months My Paper Pumpkin kit is full of sunshine and positive greetings. Each month Stampin Up projects are date and time appropriate and February was no different with the name of “Hello Sunshine”.
