I was raised by a single father and I have always been the princess in the family – that was up until about 3 months ago. We had a new family member join our family that has taken the role of princess.

The addition I am referring to is of Meadow, my father’s Australian Laberdoodle. I am lucky that i live only about 10 minutes from the newly crowned girl. I love to give her toys and watch her excitement – what strikes me each time is many times she has not idea what I am about to give her but her excitement says otherwise. A box that allows me to give her these presents she so deserves is Pet Treater. World of Munchies: Sweet Tooth Box – Review & Giveaway

As time passes I have noticed that my taste buds are not what they one were. I tend to run trains on items. Let me explain further – I will get a snack in my head, act as though it is a 5 alarm fire to procure this item, I will then eat only this snack for the next 4 to 6 weeks. As quick as this occurs, the opposite also is true, I get tired of the item almost as quick. This makes life for Jason a little on the frustrated side.

Try as I might to lessen his frustration, I am usually unsuccessful therefore leaving him with fewer snack options than he might prefer. The one thing he always does is encourage me to try new snacks. I am proud to say that with the creation and execution of this blog that is exactly what I have begun doing.

I have had the opportunity in the past to review previous World of Munchies boxes, as they are the perfect way to sample new snacks without the commitment. I will be honest and let you in on a secret – it takes a lot to really impress me and make me giddy with excitement. One of these things that does accomplish this is candy scented products. I love the smell of sugar and sweet and the sweetness it evokes. I have never been a girly-girl, but there is something that is not girl, but nostalgic about candy.

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – January 2016

Jason and I love our cats, there is no denying this. If you were to pick up either of our phones there are more cat photos than human photos.

Our cats are these big personalities packed in little bodies. Murfee has a personality that mirrors my personality and Maggee mirrors Jason. Jason can roll with the punches, and is always calm and that describes our Maggee perfectly. Murfee is always on alert and jumps when he hears a loud noise – just like his human momma.

We have a lot of fun around here dissecting their personalities and comparing them to each of us and wondering what we are accurate about and what is just dreaming. We think they know their names, but really they know their tones, but I swear when they come up to us, they are conveying pure love. I am proud to be a cat mom to these two awesome little creatures, and tell them so each day.

This months Cat Lady Box was an ode to the “cat lady”. Each month the box is wonderfully put together and is “absolutely pawsome”. I say it every month and each month I mean it, each month it is just as good as the previous month, (see previous reviews here). The box exterior continues with the new box design and looked different then the previous printed and stamped versions. I loved being greeted by the black tissue paper and sticker, as I unfurled my package I was filled with excitement!

Pet Gift Box – Cat – Subscription Box – January 2016 Review

There is no denying that we are a football home. From our San Diego Charger themed decorations to what team we root for. I never imagined that I would care much about football much less about what the result of the Super Bowl turns out to be. The big news for San Diego fans is that despite much concern, many comments and discussions to the contrary, the Chargers will be in San Diego for the 2016 season. This came as a collective exhale from the cities residents, and while 2016 is figured out, the future is still up in air for the Chargers.

Since I was in San Diego, the NFL Owners was shown and updated – this put me on edge until the end. The unintended result was that the stress i was feeling was passed on to the cats. I did not realize the undo stress they were also feeling while i was on edge. It got me thinking that despite my excitement, at times the yelling “touchdown” and the screaming about an interception can cause animals undo stress due to not knowing if the yelling is at them or the box in front of them.

Despite the momentary fear that I might put in the cats, I am still a yelling proud San Diego Fan. In this months PetGiftBox they celebrate that pigskin tradition that is celebrated over 16 Sunday’s a year.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – January 2016 Review

Since I live in San Diego each year we have the geek universe descend upon us in the form of the yearly Comic Convention or Comic-Con as San Diegan’s call it. I was lucky enough to be able to attend “Con” back in the early 90’s when it was more comic book driven, and less big budget.

I think back on these early days, and I realize how far i have come in my geek evolution. Back in the early 90’s the big budget movies were the only ones that I really cared about. Now I appreciate the art, the cinema and story behind some of the smaller movies. I also now realize the talent and effort involved in creating the comics. Also back in those early days, the role-playing world was represented which worked well for me since my friends were role-players.

I have mentioned in the past that I am a nostalgic person. I often I wish I could travel back and watch and attend that first “Con” with the knowledge I have today. Each month I get my education expanded when I receive the monthly Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription Box celebrates those cartoon days. I was eager to open this months box and as with previous months I was eager to see what the box contained and I was not disappointed.

The year was 2005 and an opportunity presented itself – a 2 week trip to Thailand. As history would show my traveling to a country in which a major tsunami had hit was cheaper than almost any other vacation destination. While in this foreign land I met the nicest people, went parasailing, rode an elephant and saw many temples. The temples ranged from gold, white and natural colors, but with one thing in common – the message conveyed.

The messages that are received are different for each person, but I felt love and acceptance.There are times in life that you look back on moments and wonder if that was really you that went through that particular moment. This can be running that 20 miles that you never imagines or flying over the oceans to travel to an unknown land. I believe that as much as these monks preach this message, it is the same of yoga – be yourself and be brave!

I recently received the January BuddhiBox and I am again pleased and thrilled. Earlier in the year, I had the opportunity to review previous boxes (click here) and they are always fun and an education in the yoga/healthy living lifestyle. The message is always one of compassion, and understanding and living a pure life.

This month I was pleasantly surprised to see a box redesign. The previous months boxes were a little thinner and placed in a larger box, this new box is sturdy and only one box is needed. I loved that a green crinkle wrap replaced the green tissue paper, but still retained the green theme. This month came with 3 cardboard information cards that are in full color and on thick glossy card stock. The first card was the Yoga pose of “Mountain Pose/Tadasana” that shows the pose in full color, as well as the benefits and directions about the pose. These pose cards are made especially for BuddhiBox by a company called Yogicards. There is a recipe for a “Roasted Tomato Soup” that is made using 9 fresh ingredients The final information card included was a box manifest and on the other side the following quote:

Crafted Gluten Free Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – 1st Box

One of the things that I love about monthly boxes is the constant sampling of items and the opportunity to support a business that otherwise may go unknown.

The other thing that I really love about monthly boxes are that many times they are supporting the small businesses by providing product but may times the box itself is a small business themselves. I appreciate local items and the reason for this is that i live in a small town within a large city and to keep the appeal and the “funkiness” of our town, small business must prevail. Even my husband works for a small local business, and while part of a multi-location company, they are also supporters of other small business.

The way I see it, for the cycle of commerce to spin, all spokes must be turning at once. It takes companies and monthly boxes to assist in bringing awareness and support to other small companies and it takes consumers purchasing the boxes supporting the small companies. It all spins and all comes back together with the overriding theme of support.

I love when I am approached by a company or box subscription service that I have not previously heard of. I also love when I receive the box and it exceeds my expectations. I recently received the first months box from Crafted Gluten Free. Let me just say that this is not your typical box offering. It has been about 3 months since Meadow entered our extended family, and things are going great. In the past couple of weeks she has learned how to sit and stay and she knows her name. I think that the best thing that has come out of Meadow’s adoption is that it has made my father a happier person – which is good for everyone.

I started to think about the reasons and ways that dogs can add a positive influence in our life. The reasons are simple, but the science behind them are more complicated. The experts will say that animals bring calm, and from that calm can be lower blood pressure and an overall sense of peace. I know for our family now that Meadow is around there is a lot less aggressive speaking and less agressivee attitudes since we don’t want to scare the puppy. I think that it more that we impart human emotions on our animals and feel they feel the same as us.

Meadow was 9 weeks old on her arrival into my father’s life, and I can say that almost 12 weeks later, they are the best of friends. Since she is still a puppy, there is a lot of trial and error in her preferences towards toy and treats. In this situation the best thing is to purchase a monthly gift box, so that an assortment of toys and treats are received. A box making a big splash in the pet gift box market is Pet Treater.
