Brush Pen Lettering Practicing Book Review

Brush Pen Lettering Practice Book: Modern Caligraphy Drills, Measured Guidlines and Practice Shees to Perfect Your Basic Strokes, Letterforms and Words Review + Giveaway

As much as I love blogging there is another thing I love to do – write and send cards to loved ones, especially during the holidays when I am sending cards to loved ones.

I believe that the art of handwriting is slowly being eliminated from the skills people hold. Instead of being able to do clean brush lettering, people strive to have the most words typed from their smart phones.

Each year I write cards and notes, and each year I strive to make my handwriting better. I am always looking for books and step-by-step instructions to extend those skills. When I recently I received a copy of Brush Pen Lettering Practice Book: Modern Calligraphy Drills, Measured Guidelines, and Practice Sheets to Perfect Your Basic Strokes, Letterforms and Words by Grace Song for review I was excited to perfect my abilities for future cards with worksheets.

Holiday Gift Guide 2018: Scratch and Draw Patterns

Holiday Gift Guide 2018: Scratch & Create – Scratch and Draw Patterns

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of The Quatro Group. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are mine.

It has been brought to my attention that while I am talented in certain areas, drawing is not one of them. I am always trying to expand my hand and learn to draw, so when I saw the Scratch & Create: Scratch and Draw Patterns Book I was intrigued.

The Scratch & Create: Scratch and Draw Patterns Book is a 20 page book that has an image on one side, and a scratchable surface on the other side in which you “scratch” the image. There are spirals, tangles, and geometric patterns that have simple lines and shapes. The illustration on the facing scratch-off page gets scratched off with the specialized stylus tool to reveal a contrasting background to the color on the page.

Each page is perforated so you may keep or gift your image. I will say if you are looking for an easy image to create, this book may not be for you – it is for more advanced drawers but that is not to say it is difficult, just takes more a drawing hand. If you have a fan of drawing in your life this would be a great gift to challenge and expand their abilities.

Make It By Hand Book Series Review

Make It By Hand: New England Paperscapes and Vintage Coloring & Craft Book Review and Giveaway

There is something about starting with a simple book and being able to create a whole city or town. When I was young I had a book that I could punch out shapes and images, that after colored and assembled, would create a whole cityscape.

As much as fun as I now remember that book was, honestly I had forgotten about it until I received the Make it By Hand Paperscapes and Vintage Coloring Book for review.

The Lego Animation Book and Geeky Lego Crafts Book Review

The Lego Animation and Geeky Lego Crafts Book Review + Giveaway

Since I was an only child, I had many moments throughout my young life that I would be bored in my own home. It was usually during these moments that I would begin to reorganize my room or start a new project I had never done before.

One of my favorite things to do was to put together LEGO kits, you know the ones that have all the pieces needed to create a ship, or van or environment for my LEGO people. I would spend hours matching pieces and clicking them together.

Despite my creativity, I never thought that there was much more I could do with LEGO’s and inevitably they would end up taken apart, in the box in my closet never to be seen again. When I recently received a copy of the LEGO books Geeky LEGO Crafts and The LEGO Animation Book I realized the missed opportunities I had all those years earlier with my beloved brick blocks. .
