Cooler Can Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – July 2015

Cooler Can Monthly July 2015When I was a child my father had a collection of these wraps that kept his beer cool. I never knew why or even how this worked but loved the wraps. The collection included flying themed (he was a pilot before I was born), dirty jokes (which went right over my 8-year-old head) and locations that were unknown at the time to me (I was to young to go into many of the establishments that served alcohol).

As I have aged I have begun to see the genius behind these can wraps. These wraps go by a couple of names including koozies, beer coolers and can coolers. Inspired by these koozies, Cooler Can Monthly was created. Cooler Can Monthly features 2 subscription options including the Backyarder Foam package and the Happy Camper Neoprene Package.

Each month Cooler Can Monthly searches for unique businesses to contact and partner with. Once contact has been made a month is schedule in which the koozie will be featured. Once that partnership has had been secured and the cooler can is featured and it is retired forever. At this point it is not available anywhere else.

I received both the subscription options for this review as well as a couple of past koozies. What I found to be the most fun about these koozies was going online and researching the featured koozie’s original location.

Cat Lady Monthly Subscription Box Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of CatLadyBox.com. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Cat Lady Monthly Subscription Box Review and GiveawayCat Lady Box July 2015As many of my regular readers will know I am a feline fan. I refer to my 2 feline friends as “The Muggles” and like many owners my phone is full of cat pictures that show their unique and one of a kind personalities. Many people will dispute that cats have facial expressions and to many people if they have seen one, they have seen them all. Since I am review blogger my cats are my writing buddies during the day so I spend many hours with them.

In the past I have been referred to as a “Crazy Cat Lady” due to my love, and slight obsessive nature when it comes to photographs of the cats. I have always found this description offensive due to the fact that just because I love my animals unconditionally does not make me “crazy”. Due to the love I have for the feline species I am also a collector of cat items. I am always on the lookout for something new and cute to add to my collection. In my search I discovered Cat Lady Box.

Cat Lady Box was started with the belief that just because we are cat lovers that does not make us crazy. The goal is to change the perception of what it is to be a crazy cat lady. The premise behind Cat Lady Box is that each month you are sent anywhere from 2-5 items, depending on your box choice. The Cat Lady Box comes with 2-3 cat themed items for humans and the Crazy Cat Lady Box has the items in the 1st box plus 2 surprises for your feline friend(s).

I received the July 2015 box and could not have been happier with the contents (which I will be listing in detail below). There are a couple things that set this box apart from other boxes in the subscription box field. The first thing that sets them apart is that not only did they include a postcard manifest but a letter that gives a little back story on each item contained in the box. The second thing that I think sets them apart is the accessibility of the owner and creator. In the letter the owner invites subscribers to email her, and she will personally respond to each inquiry. I can attest that this is true, I have had a very nice correspondence while preparing this review with her.

The third thing that I think Cat Lady Box does is that it picks quality, thoughtful and unique items for the box. This box is not just a box of kitschy cat items, it a box that you and your cat can enjoy. As an example, this month I received the following in the “Crazy Cat Lady” box:

Hawaii Snack Box Subscription Review and Giveaway July 2015
Hawaii Snack Box July 2015

I live in what many people consider paradise. I live only 1/4 mile from a popular beach that is frequented by surfers, celebrities and everyone else. Not only am I a 1/4 mile away but I am sandwiched between some of the best coastline anywhere in California.

There is one place that beats this paradise I have in favor of more expansive coast lines (750 miles to be exact). There is a place where the same smattering of surfers, celebrities and everyone else gather. The place I speak of was the site if of a horrific military action, but instead of sadness is filled with hope, history and love. If you have not figured out this picturesque place I speak of, it is Hawaii.

I have wanted to visit Hawaii for as long as I remember (I want to see Pearl Harbor) and have seen friends have multiple visits while I am wishing for my one. I may not be able to travel there physically but I can get the flavors of Hawaii delivered to me on my coastline each month. This is where Hawaii Snack Box comes in. Each month Hawaii Snack Box includes 5-7 snacks in their subscription boxes. I was sent the July 2015 box for review and included in the box was the following:

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – July Box Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of GeekFuel.com. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – July 2015 ReviewGeek Fuel July 2015By now it is well known that I live in a geek household. I live with a Role Playing Gamer (RPG’er) and I have to admit that I am starting to become one myself. This is almost become a seamless transition into the dark side. I am a light happy person so being in and on the dark side is a bit different for me.

In my initiation over to the dark side there has been a learning curve. You may wonder what the learning curve entails. I discovered that the learning curve includes things such as the difference between a MMORPG and FPS, open world vs. linear story, side scrollers vs. adventure games and why experience points matter. Learning all this has been a little rough but I am happy to say I am starting to get it.

Since this induction into the geek world I appreciate all things geek and there are few things that pack as much geek punch as the monthly subscription box from Geek Fuel. I received the July themed Geek Fuel box and as I have been in previous months, I was pleasantly surprised. Also the July box was advertised as an entirely exclusive month and came as advertised. Included in this months boxes was the following:

My Paper Pumpkin July KitMy Paper Pumpkin July Kit Review and Giveaway

There is something really special about receiving a piece of mail. To know that the sender not only took the time to write something special, but make the card as well makes the mail close to priceless. Whenever I think of friendship I think of two friends sitting over a cup of coffee or a hot latte catching up on each others lives. This month’s My Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up kit celebrates this idea in the form of a card kit.

I  had the chance to review My Paper Pumpkin’s kit box’s previous months box (click here). I was thrilled to be given the chance to review this months box as well. The theme for July was named “Thanks A Latte”.

Pet Gift Box – Cat – Subscription Box – July ReviewPet Gift Box July 2015

Fitness is not a world that is used often around this house, unless it is in direct relation to our cats. We have made the choice to keep our cats as indoor cats, therefore fitness and nutrition are even more important than if they were outside playing all day.

We are always looking for ways for them to do what we call “the magic three” which are hunt, eat and sleep. The idea is that they hunt their prey (or toy) and once they have gotten it, we feed them a treat or wet food (or direct them to their dry food) so they can “eat” their kill and then they fall asleep from the hunt. We look for toys that will encourage that and support that behavior in the Muggles.

Pet Gift Box July 2015Knob Goblin – $5.99: This toy attached to a door knob or handle. This toy has a great springing ability and has a noise rattle inside that gives the cats even more reason to attack the toy. I think the reason that Murfee loved it so much is because of the included catnip – he loves catnip!

Pet Gift Box July 2015Swat N’ Bobble Octopus – $5.99: This silly looking faced toy has a suction cup that attached to many different surfaces (I attached it to my wood floor, sliding glass window and wood cabinet siding). The downside is that if your cat is a ferocious player like our cats then they will inevitably knock the toy down, thus ending the fun for them. After I put the suction cup where I wanted it I just put two small pieces of tape on the side to hold in place. Bonus for my catnip loving boy Murfee because cat nip is included in this toy.

Sock Club – June 2015 – Review

Sock Club June 2015 The PrinceSock Club – June 2015 – Review

I have mentioned in the past my love for socks and my terrible propensity for wearing holes into them. I am proud to announce that I think the tide is starting to turn on this horrible habit, and my blog might be the reason. I have found that as a review blogger one of the items I receive for review are socks. I recently received a pair of socks from SockClub.com.

Prior to this interaction I had not heard of Sock Club, which actually surprises me for a couple reasons. The first reason is that this company has been in the online world since July of 2012, and I have not seen any ads or not heard any word of mouth about it. The second reason is that this is an American made product – the socks are designed in Austin, Texas and manufactured in North Carolina and usually these are the businesses that get the attention for being “American Made”. The final reason I was surprised is that the creation of the company is cocktail party story worthy. The company was started when 2 friends bet over a corn hole match, began to think about what they could do with a small fortune and decided the answer was socks – Sock Club was born.

Sock Club June 2015 The PrinceI received a pair called “The Prince”. The socks were packaged in a 8×11 cardboard envelope that was branded with the “Sock Club” name, leaving little to no doubt who the package was from. When I opened the envelope inside I discovered a wrapped brown bag type package with a wax seal in the middle designed as a method of closure. Also included was a letter that was made out to me that explained the inspiration for this month’s sock selection.

The Prince sock is a purple and black sock that is decorated with geometric shapes and the sock is solid black on the sole. These purple and black socks include a black 2 inch band on the upper ankle, with a thin purple 1/2 band on the cuff of the sock. The label stated that the sock is 80% cotton, 16% nylon and 4% lycra. This was a comfortable sock that was thin enough to not add any additional bulk to sometimes already tight fit shoes.

As for if the tide is turning on the holey sock situation stay tuned, until then go check out Sock Club, you won’t be disappointed.

Sock Club’s Monthly Subscriptions are available in 4 different monthly options:

Bulu Weight Loss Subscription Box Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of BuluBox.com. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Bulu Box Weight Loss Subscription ReviewBulu Box June 2015When I was young I never gained weight. When I say never I really mean never. If I am being honest with you, I actively tried to gain weight and it never happened despite eating entire boxes of crackers before the 12 o’clock in the morning hour. Flash forward to my early 20’s and with adulthood came a drastic change in my metabolism.

This change in my metabolism was as fast and furious as my weight gain. I do not remember actively buying bigger pants or jumping from a size 2 to a size 12. I have been lucky in my weight journey in that I fluctuate between the same 15lbs – you can almost say that me and those pounds are close friends.

I recently became a Bulu Ambassador and received a box for review. I did not really have any expectations for this box, which was probably a really good thing. Most boxes have a postcard type manifest that lists all the items contained in the box and the box I received did not have a manifest card. I noticed that the box had many different samples and I was eager to jump in and discover something new.

My Paper Pumpkin JuneMy Paper Pumpkin June Kit Review and Giveaway

When I was young I was taught it was proper to send thank you cards and acknowledgement of events and moments in other people’s lives. As I have gotten older some of the memorabilia I treasure the most is those old cards that I sent as a child and were returned to be as a an adult.

I  had the chance to review My Paper Pumpkin’s kit box’s previous months box (click here). I was thrilled to be given the chance to review this months box as well. The theme for June was named “Happy Thoughts”.

The basic idea of this months kit is that you can create different cards for a Birthday or other happy times. I love the idea of a card in which your simply put together the elements and the result is a cute card.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – June Box Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of GeekFuel.com. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – June 2015 Review

Geek Fuel June 2015I graduated high school in 1994 and that puts my late teen/adolescent years spent in the early 1990’s. I am most definitely a child of the 90’s – I loved baby doll dresses, I enjoyed the rising popularity of boy bands and I loved the television and media of this bygone era.

The 1990’s were notable in the media with books being turned into movies, such as Jurassic Park and the rise of the side scrolling platformer games. The Teenage Mutant Turtles were popular as were the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers. The X-files was on television and the we saw the rise of child themed cartoons with a definite adult theme (think Beavis and Butthead).

I mention all these icons of this era because what is old is new again. Amazingly after almost 20-25 years these legends of the 90’s are returning with a 2015 twist. The special effects driven highly anticipated Jurassic World is now in theaters, the Teenage Mutant Turtles can also be found in theaters. There has been confirmation that X-Files with Moulder and Scully is returning promising to be filled on their past 20 years.

Geek Fuel’s Monthly Subscription Service launched in December 2014 and is a monthly gaming/geek themed subscription box service. The box is mailed monthly, around the 20th, in a red box labeled with the Geek Fuel logo. Each box contains a t-shirt that you can only get from having a monthly box subscription.
