Doodle Emporium: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Review and Giveaway

I remember in junior high I had to take an art class. At the time there was little I looked forward to in this class other than being able to use my new colored pencils and crayons I received each new school year.

During these art classes, with students that I had known since I was a paste eater, were now more creative than myself. I tried to draw a self portrait and it came out looking as though I was actually drawing a new alien species. The assignments would range from home drawing similar to a intro to interior design drawing all the way to free form drawing. To say the least, in my eyes, they had bucket loads of art experience over my inexperience.

There was one type of drawing that I excelled at and that was doodling. There was something simple, yet filled with opportunities contained in those doodles. Mason Jar Crafts Review

Mason Jar Crafts Review and Giveaway

One of my favorite things to do is to take things that are otherwise trash and create something that otherwise would be considered trash. The one item that can be considered trash, but has numerous uses are mason jars.

Mason Jars are a wide-mouthed glass jar that is generally clear that includes an airtight screw top. Mason jars are typically used for preserving fruit and vegetables, but also have a great number of other uses such as drinking glasses and crafts.

Color the Cosmos: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Review and Giveaway

Up until the 1960’s the moon was an unexplored rock and largely a mystery. On July 20, 1969 the entire way we seen the moon and cosmos changed forever.

The moon landing was a not only a scientific feat but one of great personal accomplishment. The mystery of what is up there was a little less mysterious. I personally find it amazing that at any given moment there is somebody who is sitting in a low orbit to earth, with the purpose of studying and learning. I am not sure if we are alone, I almost feel like it is silly for us to think we are the only people smart enough to get beyond our atmosphere. Either way there is one simple fact that remains – they are up against the same hurdles as humans in regards to safe travel.

Fashion Forward Adult Coloring Book Review

Fashion Forward: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Review and Giveaway

Fashion and I have never really gotten along. When I was young each year I would get a stipend in late August with the intended purpose of purchasing clothes for the upcoming school year. This yearly ritual would include the entrance and exiting many different places. Ultimately I would go amount over style and was always proud when I made the stipend go further.

I would purchase pants in a rainbow of colors, and t-shirt/sweaters to match (hey! It was the later 80’s/early 90’s). My favorite items were versatile pieces that could be mixed and matched with other purchased pieces. The pieces were not particularly fashionable, but they were comfortable. I am a huge fan of comfort over what is “in-style”, to this day.

I recently received the Fashion Forward: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Minjee Kang for review and it made me realize how fashion forward I am not. Continue reading →

Adult Coloring Book: Stress Relieving Ocean Animals Patterns Review and Giveaway

The ocean is a vast space and believe it or not it is said that only 5% of the Worlds Oceans have been discovered. That means that with an average depth of 12,000 feet that is billions of cubic yards that are yes to be discovered.

Jason and I often comment on the above statistic and we dream and wonder what creatures lurk beyond the surface. I often think of krackens, and epic sea creatures that are only seen in the movies. Jason is a bit more macabre, with colossal squid that devour other small and weaker creatures.

Adult Coloring Book: Stress Relieving Flower Patterns Review and Giveaway

When I was younger I was not a flower fan, and then one day I was walking past the floral display at the local farmers market I noticed the beauty that had always been in front of me. I took a hard look at those flowers, and then I noticed a couple were garnering more of my glances than the others.

The flowers that made me look twice were the Gerber Daisy’s and sunflowers. I can honestly say that these are my two favorite flowers and I have a hard time not smiling when I see a bright flower. When I think about it, it makes sense that I would like these two since they are all about the color. The sunflower can be either an orange/yellow or a solid yellow and are beacons for bees looking for a flower to pollinate. The daisy is a simpler, more delicate flower, but equal in color and variety ranging in color to blues, yellows and pinks.

Steampunk Ocean Coloring Book Review

Steampunk Ocean: A Nautical Adult Coloring Book Device Review and Giveaway

Over the past 20 years there has been an artistic movement that combines clockwork, and industrial images and combines them with mainstream concepts and images to create a new genre of art. The formal definition of steam punk is more a genre of science fiction that typically features steam-powered machinery and not advanced technology.

I became familiar with this movement when I noticed that some of the games Jason played did not have the typical video game look. About 2 months after this discovery a makeover show was on that was redoing a bar into a steampunk theme. I was fascinated and loved the industrial twist on a modern locale.

When I received a copy of Steampunk Ocean: A Nautical Adult Coloring Book Device by Bonnita Moaby for review my mind began thinking in copper and metallic colors. Continue reading →

Geometric Collection Review

Geometric Collection: Ocean and Dogs Coloring Book Review and Giveaway

I think that it is well established that the coloring book’s for adults is a trend that is here to stay. The benefits of coloring are wide spread and include relaxation benefits and stress reduction. The largest benefit that I see from coloring is that when I color I find that my mind wanders and I am able to let my mind wander and, many times I am able to see my issue clearly.

The other benefit of coloring is that is is a inexpensive and personal way to add a little splash of color and DIY to your home decor. Since, this book has thicker lines the opportunity is there to cut the image out and decoupage it on a shelf of stool! When I received the The Geometric Collection Presents Ocean and Dogs by S. Bell, it allowed me to think of more creative ways to use my coloring pages.

When I was a child my family had birds, and as I got older my extended family continued our family tradition of birds.I also live within a close proximity to a zoo and wild animal park, both of which have birds and I love the colors that birds possess as well as the combinations of colors.

Birds are a miracle of flight and, if you know it or not, engineering. From the speed of their wings, to the aerodynamic nature of their bodies. The are able to propel themselves higher than any human could ever wish and see things that humans are unable to see. Birds are quick, small and many have their own special personalities.

When I received the Art Nouveau Birds: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Maysa Sem, it allowed me to think of those pet bird that were in my life so many years before.

There are few things that are simultaneously gorgeous, colorful and tropical as actual tropical locations. When I think of tropical items, I think of things such as pineapples, pina coladas, and bright hammock with miles of ocean.

In 2003 I had the chance to travel to Jamaica and I will never forget the vest colors and the vast ocean. The colors were primary and bright, and the trees were a vivid green.
