On June 1st, Stampin’ Up released their new 2017-2018 Annual Catalog, and it was choked full of new products and new kits. I compare the release of this catalog to the upcoming summer season. choked full of potential happiness and shared moments that are special. One of my favorite items in each of the yearly catalogs are the kits.

When I was young I knew my now husband since we were friends and hung around the same social circle. At the time I considered him my best male friend, yet there was one thing about him I did not know – he is from a large family. Now when I say a large family, I am not kidding – just his immediate family of sisters, parents and us there are 13 of us. That is starting from 5 people to 13 now, and this is not uncommon as you dig further into his extended family. The most people in one branch of the not to extended family rings in at 16 people with what started with 6 people.

Since there are so many people, and it seems to be constantly growing, there are many events, birthdays and moments to celebrate. Given the fact that there are so many special occasions, the need for cards is constant and ever-expanding.

The fact is that as much as we want to personally celebrate each individual achievement, birth, wedding, anniversary or seasonal holiday, it is impossible with a family of over 50 people and that is just in town! Card’s are simple easy sentiment’s that can be sent anytime, and for almost any occasion. With a simple card, the recipient knows we are thinking of them even if we can not attend, so when I got the Birthday Bright Project Kit I was able to make some cute cards, and stash them for the celebrations ahead. One of my favorite things about Spring is not only are the flowers in bloom with crispy air flowing through our lungs, it is the season of bunnies.

About 5 years, I lived on over 2 acres of land in the more rural area of town. One of my favorite things was when Springtime rolled around, and we would see hopping and fluff in our flower beds. I think bunnies are not only adorable, but they are also a wonderful mascot for this time of year.

Since the bunny is the unofficial official mascot, there is not better way to give Spring treats than in the March 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit “Bunny Buddies”.

My entire life there is one thing that I enjoy doing – making and writing up invitations for parties. Truth be told sometimes I would have a party just so I could make invitations.

When my husband and I celebrated our marriage I went with an ocean theme since we live near the ocean and it was in the middle of summer. I made invitations with a beach and coastal themed and my thank you cards were vellum over a fish in ocean theme. The result was an invitation and thank you set that left an impression, and was unique.

As my birthday is approaching, well if you consider 5 months approaching, and I am already thinking about a party. Truth be told since it is an off year birthday (42) I had not planned on commemorating it, but when I saw the February 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit “Many Happy Birthdays” the party invitation adrenaline began.

Stampin’ Up: Day at the Beach Wood-Mount Stamp Set Review + Giveaway

When Stampin’s Up released their new Celebrations Catalog and I saw a beach inspired stamp set I was filled with happiness.

The reason that I was filled with such happiness is that I live close to the Pacific Ocean and I try to share the ocean with the people I care about that do not live here.

Short of packaging and shipping beach sand, there is a couple alternate ways I share the loce of the coast starting with teh cards. I have a vast collection of beach and ocean inspired stickers, but have loved the look and personalization of stamps. This new Day at the Beach Wood-Mounted Stamp Set had every stamp needed to create a beach day on a card.

One of my favorite activities is to go through my year of photos, send them to the printers for printing and then placing them in an album.

Sometimes I remember all the details of the moment captured in the photo, and other times my memory needs a little jogging. I keep a journal of the years events that I am able to reference back to when I make my yearly highlight album.

Recently I received a card from a dear old friend. This is a person who I had lost touch with for many years, and through the use of modern technology I was able to track down her email. While I had her email for a couple of days, I was hesitant to hitting the send button.

I finally decided to hit the send, and held my breath for her to reply. I had included my address in case she wanted to send me a mailed letter. The same day I heard from her I also received a physical card in the mail. Almost instantly I was filled with an excitement and could not wait to open this letter from a long-lost friend.

While the card was simple, the sentiment meant the world to me. With a simple card, the years between us melted away and a fresh start was beginning. When I got the Designer Tin of Card Project Kit I began to think of the ways that I could give someone the same thing that the card I received gave me. Continue reading →

Paper Pumpkin – Wonderful Winterland – November 2016 Kit Review + Giveaway

When I was young the idea of mail was beyond my imagination. There was something magical that with something as simple as an address, people can get trinkets and letters from loved ones. This was in the day before I knew about bills and thought the world was full of rainbows.

Now that I am adult, I accept that most of the mail I receive is bills, except for this time of year. This is the season of family updates, family photos and letters – I love this time of year!

When I received the November 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit “Wonderful Winterland”, the decision was made that these would be in the lineup for our 2016 Holiday cards.
