Paper Pumpkin: February 2017 Kit Review

Paper Pumpkin – Another Great Year – February 2017 Kit Review + Giveaway

My entire life there is one thing that I enjoy doing – making and writing up invitations for parties. Truth be told sometimes I would have a party just so I could make invitations.

When my husband and I celebrated our marriage I went with an ocean theme since we live near the ocean and it was in the middle of summer. I made invitations with a beach and coastal themed and my thank you cards were vellum over a fish in ocean theme. The result was an invitation and thank you set that left an impression, and was unique.

As my birthday is approaching, well if you consider 5 months approaching, and I am already thinking about a party. Truth be told since it is an off year birthday (42) I had not planned on commemorating it, but when I saw the February 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit “Many Happy Birthdays” the party invitation adrenaline began.

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Paper Pumpkin/Stampin’ Up, but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

This month is a kit that makes either 9 invitations, 9 gift card holders, or 9 greetings in 3 different card patterns and is titled “Many Happy Birthdays“.

Each month I look forward to the 10 by 6.5 red box, to see what new project I will be embarking on. Each month the kit comes complete with the items you need to create the project for the month. Included in this months box was the following:

  •  Many Happy Birthdays Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Flirty Flamingo Classic Stampin’ Spot
  • Island Indigo Classic Stampin’ Spot
  • 9 Printed Die-Cut Card Bases
  • 9 White Envelopes
  • 9 Card Inserts
  • 1 sheet Glitter Embellishments
  • 1 sheet Printed Invites
  • 20 Adhesive Dots

Included with each box are written instructions with full-color photos but also there is an instructional video available (Online Instructions) to help you complete the project each month.

This months stamp is a combination of various birthday themed greetings. The greetings are as simple and include a couple different accent stamps. Also included were two Stampin’ Spot Inks called Flirty Flamingo, which was a pink color and Island Indigo which was a teal color.

The instructions in this kit were easy to understand and simple. Also photos included were clear and even if omitted I would have been able to complete the kit. I would also say due to the simplicity this month, this would make a great gift for kids that might want to make their own invitations and would take little help from an adult.

As I said above this kit would be perfect for younger crafter’s due to the few steps and the simplicity of the steps. The kit includes envelopes that are the perfect size for the top candle flame. I would image that one forever stamp is all that would be necessary to send these to your recipients.

When all is said and done the end result is 3 sets of 3 cards that are not only good looking but also different than average invitations and gift card holders.

Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up boxes are available for $19.95/month, $59.00/3 months, $114.00/6 months and $215.00/12 months and the shipping is included in the cost. The 6-month is a total savings of about $6, about a $1 a month savings and the 12-month is total savings of about $24, about a $2 a month savings thus ends up totaling the amount of receiving one kit free.

My most memorable party was for my birthday when I was 6 or 7 and my father wouldn’t let me play a board game that I had just been given and that I wanted to play, but let the other children play the game.

  3. Ann Fantom

My most memorable party in which I was the guest of honor was a surprise 40th birthday party for me.

Thanks for this chance to win! That box looks like so much fun! Most memorable party, hu? That would probably have to be my grafuation party… Or one of our New Years parties. Not necessarily “guest of honor” but rather the host… Does that count? Our tradition is to have a costume party for New Years. It’s tremendous fun.

My most memorable celebration where we were guests of honor was our wedding reception.

Hm…I’m with a couple of the other comments where the most memorable party was when I was hosting, versus actually being the guest of honor. I super love planning and hosting get-togethers but I tend to shy away from too much attention just on me!

When I turned 30th! My bestie put together a party for me and I had no idea!

I have never had one but….I will be 50 this year and I know my mom and my daughter will be throwing me a birthday party and I know it will be the best party ever!!
