Paper Pumpkin: A Sara Thing – April 2017 Kit Review

Paper Pumpkin – A Sara Thing – April 2017 Kit Review + Giveaway

The one thing I love to see in companies is when the CEO’s and executive teams get involved with each aspect their companies.

Back in March I had seen that the CEO of Stampin’ Up was curating her own kit. I knew that this would be a unique and a one of a kind kit!

The kits names for the April 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit is called “A Sara Thing” in honor of the CEO.

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Paper Pumpkin/Stampin’ Up, but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

This month is a kit that makes 12 cards and envelopes and is titled “A Sara Thing“.

Each month I look forward to the 10 by 6.5 red box, to see what new project I will be embarking on. Each month the kit comes complete with the items you need to create the project for the month. Included in this months box was the following:

  •  A Sara Thing Photopolymer Stamp Set
  • Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Spot
  • 4  Water Color Pencils – Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry
  • 12 Blank Card Bases
  • 12 Printed Envelopes
  • 12 White Card Liners (for inside of cards)
  • 8 Sheets Resist Watercolor Paper Pieces
  • 4 Sheets Watercolor Paper
  • 4 Black and White Striped Sticker Sheets
  • 4 White Sticker Sheets
  • 1 Sheet Die Cut Banners
  • 1 Sheet Leaf Stickers
  • 12 Glitter Acrylic Flowers
  • 350 Adhesive Dots
  • 60 Dimensionals
  • 1 Roll Black and White Striped Washi Tape
  • 1 Paintbrush

Included with each box are written instructions with full-color photos but also there is an instructional video available (Online Instructions) to help you complete the project each month.

This months stamp set is a mix of 14 stamps that have sentiments, and dots. The words “Best” and “You” are in a more handwriting style which makes a nice variation the more typed words of the other stamps. Also included was one Stampin’ Spot Archival Ink in Basic Black, which is a fast drying and acid free ink.

Since this kit was created by Sara, there was an added surprise in the box – a 4-pack of Watercolor Pencils in Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Melon Mambo and Rich Razzleberry. This was an added bonus for this months kit and it really made the completion of the project easier.

The instructions in this kit were easy to understand and simple. Also photos included were clear and even if omitted I would have been able to complete the kit. This month was a simple kit and would make a great gift for kids that might want to make their own bunny treats with taking a little help from an adult.

A main component of this kit is the included watercolor pencils, making each card unique and one-of-a-kind. There are resist watercolor paper, which was nice since the resist does not let color bleed into another section. I went with a simple yellow and blue pattern, and in places I colored darker, the watercolor was also darker. I loved the small imperfections on the card, and while it is  a little darker in more places, I think that adds to the individuality.

A Sara Thing makes 12 cards that can have as much or as little watercoloring as you choose – there is a lot of room for uniqueness.

Also included were 12 Glitter Acrylic Flowers that make cute embellishments that can double as ways to cover up small errors. These came in purple, pink and yellow, and even had the leaves that would match them.

The end result is a set that allows you to create a collection of cards that are watercolor inspired and always one-of-a-kind.

I would like to learn how to silkscreen printing. That requires quite a set up, but it would be rewarding. My mom did that when I was little.

A craft I would like to learn? Well, I would like to quilt and knit, but I feel there’s no time!

I would like to learn how to knit. I never could get the hang of it when my grandmother tried to teach me.

I would really love to start a scrapbook with my Chloe Pearl. I have so many wonderful photos of her and I need to archive them.

I would love to learn how to do jewelry stamping. It is so pretty and personalized I think it would be great because I would be able to make my own gifts for others
