I could be one of the luckiest people in the world – I live right in the middle of a surf town – Encinitas, California.

If you have never heard of our town let me share a couple of facts with you – the main artery is the Coast Highway 101. Taking this iconic and scenic route is a favorite of Jason and I’s, and also a wonderful place to truly take in the wonder and true “vibe” of this surf town. With a population of almost 60,000 people, almost someone you encounter knows a mermaid or two.

My favorite thing about my town is the diversity I encounter and see daily. This is a town where you can not judge a book by its cover and if you do, then you are the naive one. Everyone here is friendly and there is no judgement for cutting out of the office at 3PM to hit the waves. This is a town that embraces beachy waves – in the sand or on a head of hair.

Taking all this into account it is no wonder that Sun Bum chose Encinitas as the location for its West Coast offices and Concept Store. Being that it was a mere couple miles down the 101, I decided it was time to support this newest addition to our town.

Sun Bum Shampoo and Conditioner Review and Giveaway

Sometimes it is easy to forget how lucky I am. I was lucky to grow up less than 5 miles from the beach, and now as a homeowner I live a mere 1/4 mile from one of the most world renowned beaches in the United States.

The ocean is a vast and quite the mystery. The mystery being an answer to a question that is always being asked. On breezy days we can smell the saltwater coming off the ocean and feel the ocean breeze. My neighbors are all a decade or younger than my husband and I, and spend their days as mermen and mermaids. Despite this age divide we have one common thread, our mutual respect for the ocean.

As a kid that grew up so close to the ocean, I often had sun bleached hair that tended towards white the early part of life. As I have gotten older, I take much better care of my hair, but I still worry about sun damage and those relentless UV rays. I have mentioned in the past how I put my hair through a lot of abuse, due to dying and getting a permanent whenever legally allowed. I have sense calmed that abusive action and now when I do color my hair it is with natural dyes, and no ammonia or peroxide.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, I am a San Diego Charger fan, and a proud fan. I love wearing my jersey on game days, and I have scrunchies and ribbons galore to adorn my hair with. I decided long ago, that despite my love, I would never dye my hair a blue or yellow (blond is yellow isn’t it?). I have always thought it would be fun to show my pride via my hair.

I have always wanted longer hair and especially longer nails. I have more hair than most people my age and while I do not have the nails I desire, I do see growth when I forget I have the habit of biting them. I have been lucky, overall, with my hair over the years. Despite my constant drastic coloring changes and my near constant perming when I was young, my hair looks good today. I am lucky that a “hair” over 40 my hair looks good.

The one major complaint that I have is I have always had a problem with frizz. When I was young I mistakenly brushed my hair with a perm (I will pause for you to imagine that), and I believed once I stopped that foolish practice I would no longer suffer from frizz. Since I am all about the honesty, I will say that it looked as though I stuck my finger in a light socket!

I spend my day in a peaceful home. I typically wake up around 8:00am and make lunch for my husband, and see him off to a great day at work. I then go through the process of waking myself up – which usually includes an energy drink and cuddles with the cats. I then grab my computer and read and respond to emails and begin to write. During this time the only sound is my cats living life, outdoor noises (there is construction a couple of homes away) and the sound of thoughts swirling in my head.

I love this peacefulness and I look forward to it each day. This amount of peacefulness is not only conductive to writing but also for thinking and reflection. In the practice of Yoga, your silence and movement is reflective of your thoughts. With the amount of peace I have in a average day I am able to hone in on that peace, corral my thoughts.

Earlier in the year, I had the opportunity to review previous boxes (click here) and they are always enjoyable and grounded. The message is always one of compassion, and peacefulness and of course always yoga.

When the bright green tissue paper again greeted me I found myself eager again to tear the paper and delve into this months box. This month came with 3 cardboard information cards that are clear and in full color. The first card was the “Downward Facing Dog” that shows the pose in full color, as well as the benefits about the pose. There is a recipe for a “Penne all Norma” that is made using 11 ingredients, including the spice packet and is basically pasta with tomato sauce with eggplant. The final information card included was a box content listing and on the other side the following quote:

Luseta Beauty: Tea Tree and Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner Review and Giveaway

I was born with naturally curly hair, but did not really understand what that meant until I got older. My curl is a nice relaxed curl naturally but as a teenager I wanted more curl. Due to this irrational need to curl my hair more, I got a perm every 6-8 weeks. Once I grew out of perms I discovered the world of hair coloring. I began with a bang – deep red on a sandy blond hair. It was extreme and unexpected, and I loved it. I kept this up for many years until I decided to strip my hair back to its original color. I have had moments of color since the stripping of my hair but I have largely avoided coloring my hair (when I do I use coloring in my hair I use the most natural dye I can find). Due to this vicious cycle I got myself into my hair is damaged and brittle and needs a little help.

I am always looking for the shampoo and conditioner combination that will not only make my hair look better but also regain its health it had before all my abuse. While I know I truly can not make that young hair come back, I can help it a little. When I was given the opportunity to review Luseta Beauty’s Tea Tree and Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner, I knew that I had to see if this would repair my fried damaged hair.
