Late for the Sky: Geek-opoly Board Game Review

Late for the Sky: Geek-opoly Board Game Review + Giveaway

When I was young I had a reputation for not only dating geeks, but also being a geek myself. Despite the years of torment and laughs that were made at my expense I did not not mind this distinction. I took pride in the fact that the boys I dated knew how to fix my computer, that they used their imagination’s weekly at their Dungeons and Dragon’s role-playing games and that while they were not the most popular, they were genuine people. The status of geek never made a big difference to me, people are more than the labels we give them, which I discovered early in my life. I spent many hours with my fellow geeks – while they explored the depth’s of Mordor, I sat and colored while listening to the adventures. Some of my best memories are these moments.

There is one benefit of geekdom – a unique knowledge and sense of humor that many other people do not understand. Since I am married to a self admitted geek, at times it can be difficult to find gifts that are the right mix of geek and humorous. When I saw Late for the Sky’s Geek-opoly Board Game I was brought back to those moments late at night in the garage and smiled.

Bain de Terre: Blood Orange & Passion Fruit S/C Review

Bain de Terre: Blood Orange & Passion Fruit Color Enhancing Shampoo and Conditioner Review + Giveaway

When I was 18 years I began dying my hair to shades of red. The shades ranged from strawberry blond to deep dark red. My favorite shad was an in-between of the lightest and darkest – it was a nice middle ground. As I got older another color began making an appearance, and it was not one I was necessarily choosing – gray! I have begun coloring my hair, to cover this streak of gray I seem to have now.

I have reverted back to those easy days of reds, and in the sun my hair now has a nice red tone. While I enjoy dying my hair, I try to minimize it whenever possible, looking for other alternatives that will freshen my color. When I saw a color enhancing line and colors of hair care from Bain de Terre I was immediately interested in seeing if this would enhance the color.

Candlemart by Hanna’s at Candlemart.com Review

Candlemart by Hanna’s at Candlemart.com: Beads, Trios and Melts Review + Giveaway

Over the years I have had many hobbies, including candle making. I loved finding different ways to display the wax, and loved creating something that made our house a warm place to visit.

After about a year of diligent and frequent candle making I decided that despite the love of making them, I moved on to a different hobby.

Despite this departure, I still love candles and an even bigger love of wax melts. I love the simplicity and the safety of  wax melts. Since we have two very curious cats in our house, we are always making sure the environments safe while keeping the items we love. We quickly discovered that candles are best burned away from the cats, but melts were perfect.

Since wax melts are heated over a bulb, you still get the aroma and the ambiance without the flame. When I recently found Candlemart by Hanna’s and discovered that they had Jolly Rancher Lemon candles I knew I had to investigate further.

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription Review: January 2017

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription – “Cozy & Comfy” – January 2017 – Review + Giveaway

Early in our cat guardian life, we realized that our cats were going to miss out on sleeping on our beds at night. Due to the layout of our house, there is a clear path from our living room to the bedroom. If we keep the bedroom door open, they run and use our (Jason’s) legs to vault themselves ahead of each other.

Recently we have begun to let our girl cat, Maggee, in the room the last couple hours of the sleep cycle. Most days she hunkers down by my legs and falls asleep. The other day, we discovered that a soon as the humans sleep she explores the closet. We had set some water bottles on the edge of our elevated closet, and when we woke, one bottle was on the floor – not where we left it.

Sadly, Maggee was busted! Despite that exploration, we know all she wants is to be near us. When I received the “Cozy & Comfy” themed Cat Lady Box this month, I laughed because thats all every cat wants is to be cozy and comfy. Continue reading

Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome – December 2016 Review

Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome – December 2016 Review

Now that the holidays are wrapping up and a new year dawns, I am reflective of the year past. At the end of the year I try to summarize my accomplishments, note my failures and set new goals for the year ahead.

One of my goals in the coming year is to pay it forward. I find that simple actions of kindness are becoming less common. As time goes on and if we do not keep this movement going, then generations below us will lose that common kindness. So this coming year, I am going to share my good fortune and when I receive items in boxes I am not going to use and pay it forward.

Each month when I receive the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome by That Daily Deal.com I think of those moments of kindness that can be paid forward. Each month no theme is chosen, but rather a selection of random gender neutral items that will undoubtedly meet a need of yours or a lucky recipient.

There are many chores as adults that we have to do, whether we like it or not. The great thing is that everybody has their own chore they dislike. For me, laundry is that dreaded chore, and it is not a new dislike.

Due to this, I am always on the search for healthy alternatives. When I discovered Charlie’s Soap and read the previous reviews, I knew that I wanted to give this a try for my home!

YogDev: Hot Yoga Towel Review

YogDev: Hot Yoga Towel Review + Giveaway

If there is one thing I have learned as I have gotten older is that not all towels are built the same way.

When you are doing yoga, your towel needs are different than you would after a shower. After a shower, you want a plush towel that will engulf you in warmth.

When you are in the middle of a yoga session, you want a soft towel this moisture wicking. When I received the Hot Yoga Towel from YogDev, it is those qualities that immediately got my attention and made me eager to review it.

Cremo Company: Men & Women’s Shaving Cream Review

Cremo Company: Men and Women’s Shaving Cream Review & Giveaway

There are certain lessons and teachings that since I was raised by a man that I missed. These are few and far between now that I am older but equally important to my daily life.

The lesson that I missed out on was about shaving. I took all my shaving lessons from my father while he shaved, and relied on my close friends for further teachings. One of the things that I learned is that it is frowned upon when women are shaving that they not use cream of any kind. The result is razor burn, and at times an uneven shave.

This has been a system of trial and error for me with, not only razors, but also shaving creams. I experiment with different brands and try to find the one that will give me a simple and clean shave. Recently I have came across a company called Cremo Company that happens to make concentrated shaving creams, which means less of the product is needed to give a good shave.
