Culinary Corner Review

Culinary Corner: Spatula, Silicone Mat and Ice Ball Review and Giveaway

Culinary Corner SetI readily admit that I am not much of a meal chef, but I am a baker. When I was a teenager my best friends and I would always make cookies late at night. I am not sure where or when this tradition started, but it stayed throughout our high school career.

Sadly those days are about 25 years behind me, but what is not behind me is my love of baking. I love baking so much that each year during the holidays I volunteer to make the bread that will be broken at our table. I know that sounds a little over dramatic for bread, but it is important to put love and care into the foods that we share.

An important element in cooking is the utensils that are used and the care taken combining and cooking the ingredients. I love to try new products and since I am still beginning to build my collection I was thrilled when I had the opportunity to review a couple of Culinary Corner’s products.

Great Plate Holiday 2015 Giveaway!!

The Great Plate Holiday 2015 Giveaway!!!

Great Plate Red and Green Plates in useBack in April I had the opportunity to review Great Plate and see just how durable and how versatile they were (previous review here). I mentioned that to be able to have my food and drink near me on the couch and not spill due to cats jumping down was a bonus and a great feature of the Great Plate. It is 7 months later and the plates look brand new, despite being used every week or two. The color is just as vibrant and the plate is just as level as it was then – it is our “go-to” plate for chips and guacamole

Repurpose Review

Repurpose Review and Giveaway

Repurpose all 3 itemsThe most memorable party I have ever had has to be one of the more recent parties that has been attended. Many people are unaware that my husband Jason and I eloped and kept the secret for much longer then regularly heard of. One evening I could not keep the secret from my father any longer, and mostly spurred by my new in-laws discovering our secret first, we went to speak to my father. After a little shock, silence and obligatory eye rolls, things mellowed and acceptance was in view.

Since I have celebrated every major milestone with a party of some variety, this news of marriage was no different. Shortly after the bombshell news, my father volunteered to throw us the reception we were unable to have a couple of years earlier. I went into party planning mode and settled on a beach theme since we had recently bought our house near the coast.

The one downside to parties and party planning is the amount of trash that is generated. I shutter at the amount of plates, cups and plastic ware gets thrown away and ultimately lands into our local landfills. The party planner in me is happy to say that I may have found a solution to that dreaded trash generation problem – Repurpose.

Fix-It and Forget-It Slow Cooker Magic: 550 Amazing Everyday Recipes Review and Giveaway

Fix-It and Forget-It Slow Cooker MagicBack many moons ago, during my bridal shower to my first husband I received 3 identical crock pots. We had registered for one, ended up with three. Flash forward one divorce and one marriage later I again have 3 crock pots, but this time they are not all the same make and model. Through the merging of items and a wedding, Jason and I have been able to collect three different size crock pots.

The three crock pots we have vary in size, which makes this a versatile house. The three we own are a Crock Pot 6 Quart slow cooker, a Procter Silex 3 quart and Procter Silex 1.5 quart slow cookers. Having these three crock pots/slow cookers gives us the ability to make just about anything. which lead me to discovering The Fix-It and Forget Slow Cooker Magic: 550 Amazing Everyday Recipes by Phyllis Good and published by GoodBooks and Skyhorse Publishing.

Mint-X: Rodent Repellent Trash Bags Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Mint-X. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Mint-X: Rodent Repellent Trash Bags Review and Giveaway

Mint-X Rodent Repellent Trash BagsWe here at DealsAmongUs are located on the coast. This has its advantages and it’s disadvantages. The advantages are as numerous as they are magical and range from being only 1/4 mile from the beach, being smack dab in the middle of some of the best carne asada burritos anywhere and always being walking distance from the ocean sunsets.

The disadvantages are really more like huge disturbances in everyday life. One of the biggest disadvantages is that our area gets raccoon’s and possum’s. These little friends come to our porch at night, peak the Muggles interests, and hunt for food as well as shelter of any kind. Often times they strike out, but have hit pay-dirt in the form of trash bags that get left until the morning.

Now this does not occur utterly often, but if it is late and really dark then the trash will get left until the morning. These night are generally few and far between, and make me hesitant to wake up (for fear of a mess that we will be forced to pick-up). I am happy to say that I may have found my solution to the worry I feel leaving the trash out overnight: Mint-X Rodent Repellent Trash Bags.

Cooler Can Monthly Subscription Review

Cooler Can Monthly Subscription Review and Giveaway – July 2015

Cooler Can Monthly July 2015When I was a child my father had a collection of these wraps that kept his beer cool. I never knew why or even how this worked but loved the wraps. The collection included flying themed (he was a pilot before I was born), dirty jokes (which went right over my 8-year-old head) and locations that were unknown at the time to me (I was to young to go into many of the establishments that served alcohol).

As I have aged I have begun to see the genius behind these can wraps. These wraps go by a couple of names including koozies, beer coolers and can coolers. Inspired by these koozies, Cooler Can Monthly was created. Cooler Can Monthly features 2 subscription options including the Backyarder Foam package and the Happy Camper Neoprene Package.

Each month Cooler Can Monthly searches for unique businesses to contact and partner with. Once contact has been made a month is schedule in which the koozie will be featured. Once that partnership has had been secured and the cooler can is featured and it is retired forever. At this point it is not available anywhere else.

I received both the subscription options for this review as well as a couple of past koozies. What I found to be the most fun about these koozies was going online and researching the featured koozie’s original location.
