Crispy Green: Spring “Fruit to Go” Crispy Fruit Giveaway!!!
Spring has spring here in coastal California which means that our life has gotten a lot busier. I have discovered that unless I have easy snacks to grab on the go, I will purchase fast food.
I am a sensitive person in the area of food and heat. I hate that chocolate melts in the heat and thus the flavor profile is altered in a minor way. Recently I discovered a healthy, natural snack that is not sensitive to heat in any way – freeze-dried fruit. Back in July of 2015 I reviewed a company called Crispy Green and their product called Crispy Fruit – 7/15 review here, yet it did not occur to me at the time that this is the perfect on the go snack.
When i was growing up my father loved a good Jewish deli, which were in short supply here in San Diego. The closest deli was no less than 40 minutes from our home, and honestly out of the question most days despite his cravings. Some time in my teens a new restaurant popped up that was only about 20 minutes from out house, and we began patronizing this deli.
Flash forward 20 plus years later and what started out as selling bread out of the store front’s become a household name -Milton’s/Milton’s Craft Bakers. Going into this restaurant is a treat, and as soon as you step down the stairs and enter the front area you are met with pastries and bread. The sandwiches are just as good as a Jewish deli should be, and there are pickles on the table.
When I started this blog I never imagined that I would be come familiar with gluten-free brands, and that I would be watching if companies ventured down the gluten-free path. Yesterday I was in the store doing our weekly shipping and i noticed that many companies are starting to offer gluten-free alternatives to their gluten filled counterparts. Milton’s has continues the gluten-free wave with the arrival of Milton’s Gluten Free Baked Chipsthat come in 6 varieties and are crispy as well as tasty!
World of Munchies: Red, White & Blue Snacker Box – Review & Giveaway
I have mentioned in the past that we are a snack house, and we have yet to meet a snack that we do not like. The problem is that we are 2 different people with unique and individual tastes and we do not always crave the same thing. Every once in a while we both want the same treat or ice cream, but I am a “miner of yummies” in ice cream so Jason now wants his own.
This constant back and forth of taste buds can get expensive quickly, as well as being very unhealthy. I have often thought it would be nice to get a box once a month that would provide us with a sampling of the things we love, while keeping portions in the realms of affordable.
World of Munchies has created a new box called the Red, White & Blue Snacker box. World of Munchies was started by the mind of an 11-year-old entrepreneur. Each month with the Red, White and Blue Snacker box you will receive 7 items in each box, selected from various snacks that you know and love.
We are football fans around here – San Diego Charger fans. My husband is a born and bred fan, and there was no other team to root for when he was growing up – it is his DNA! Since we are fans that rarely see play-offs, we choose to watch the game in a more passing fashion, but we partake in the snacks. This year we are taking the snacks we love, and exchanging them for variations of things we love.
Back in July of 2015 I reviewed a company called Crispy Green and their product called Crispy Fruit – 7/15 review here.
As any regular readers will know I love companies that have a unique backstory and original origins. Let’s travel back to 1960’s in Central Washington and the modern homesteading lottery. What this Homesteading Lottery did was to hold a lottery and chose “winners”. The “winners” of this lottery won 160 acres of land in Central Washington. As luck would have it, in 1962 a gentleman by the name of Karl Dorsing had not only entered this lottery but won. This win allowed him to move himself and his family to Royal City Washington.
Today those 160 acres are what is known as Royal Ridge Fruits. The fertile high desert region of Central Washington was the perfect environment to grow their all natural organic cherries, blueberries, raspberries, apple and pears. In 2010 this 3rd generational family owned and managed company created Stoneridge Orchards. Stoneridge Orchards was created for use as a consumer brand. With the creation of a consumer brand came the addition of a berry mix, dried peaches slices as well as Greek Yogurt covered fruits and Dark Chocolate covered fruits.
Stoneridge Orchards was kind enough to send us an assortment of their dried fruits and chocolate covered fruits for consideration of a review.
I have a confession – before I started this blog I had an aversion to “organic” products. I believed that they were somehow inferior to their non-organic counterparts. Through the past 12 month of blogging I have discovered that there is nothing “inferior” or “less” about organic products. In fact, many times the thing that makes a product stand out from competitors.
Back about 7 years ago I went to the San Diego Zoo with my now husbands sisters. This was very exciting, as the plan was to drop Jason off at work and meet up with sister #1 at the local park and ride. The plan was to ride with sister #1, and meet up with sister #2 and have lunch and walk around the San Diego Zoo. The first stop was lunch, as none of the accompanying children had eaten yet. The 3 of us had all brought lunch, and sister #2 had brought a bag of “Newman’s O’s” to share with us all. At the time I politely declined because I was happy with my non organic chocolate creme cookies.
Since that day I have gotten to know both my sister-in-laws much better and not only are they wonderful mothers, and family members but they also know their food. Prior to meeting these two, I had not really considered reading the ingredients of packaging. I learned early on that to be in this family, label reading and ingredient awareness matters. This is not a negative in any way, but rather a way that all mothers should adopt.
A brand that was brought to my attention as a good positive company was Newman’s Own Organic. While I was a little bewildered and confused as to why she was such a fan, as soon as I began reading on my own, I realized that Newman’s Own goodness extends beyond just food and into the charitable world.
Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Crunchmaster.. This post may contain affiliate links, but this in no way influences the review to follow.
Crunchmaster Review and Giveaway
I have mentioned this in the past that we are a snack house we really love our snacks! The most recent snack that we have begun snacking on is cheese and crackers. There is something very simple about a cracker and slice of cheese. We usually do a sharp cheddar and a white cheese of some sort.
As cheese and cracker snack people we are always excited to try different chips and crackers. I have begun also adding meat to our cracker snacks which adds a savory element to a simple snack. I have recently been looking for crackers that are versatile tasting from tuna salad to cheese.
Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Holiday 2015 Giveaway!!!
I am a crafter and so I am always looking for a healthy snack that will not leave a residue on my hands. Usually I am able to find a cracker or cookie that fits this requirement, but usually not fruit. Back in July of 2015 I reviewed a company called Crispy Green and their product called Crispy Fruit – 7/15 review here.
Enjoy Life Foods: Vanilla Honey Graham and Snickerdoodle Cookies Review & Giveaway
I feel as though we have been light on the admissions around here so thought it was a great time to admit to you all that we are a sweet house. At times I wonder if our house has more sweets than proteins. We love cookies, cakes, brownies, and any combination of those that a person can dream of.
In our constant pursuit for healthier versions of the snacks and treats that we love so much we were given the opportunity to sample a couple of Enjoy Life Food’s cookies. We sampled the Soft Baked Snickerdoodles and the Vanilla Honey Grahams.
