Nick’s Stick’s Spring 2016 Giveaway

Nick’s Stick’s 2016 “Meat” Spring Giveaway

With the arrival of Spring comes the coveted and anticipated Spring Break week. As young people Jason and I spend our spring breaks differently. Jason’s days consisted of snake hunting (apparently there were special “snake hunting” pants), playing of the Atari 2600 and of course bike riding with friends and being outside from sun up to sun down. As a girl, I spent my spring breaks hosting my friends for slumber parties, cookie baking and bus trips to the mall.

On the surface it would appear that a snake hunting boy’s boy and a slumber party loving girl would have nothing in common. The fact is that we both engaged in activities in which quick easy snacks were preferred over complicated snacks.

As you embark on your ideal spring break, we are offering a dozen Nick’s Sticks to one reader!

Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Spring Giveaway

Crispy Green: Spring “Fruit to Go” Crispy Fruit Giveaway!!!

CrispyGreen_editedSpring has spring here in coastal California which means that our life has gotten a lot busier. I have discovered that unless I have easy snacks to grab on the go, I will purchase fast food.

I am a sensitive person in the area of food and heat. I hate that chocolate melts in the heat and thus the flavor profile is altered in a minor way. Recently I discovered a healthy, natural snack that is not sensitive to heat in any way – freeze-dried fruit. Back in July of 2015 I reviewed a company called Crispy Green and their product called Crispy Fruit – 7/15 review here, yet it did not occur to me at the time that this is the perfect on the go snack.

Crispy Green has seven flavors of freeze-dried fruit including Crispy Apples, Crispy Mangoes, Crispy Asian Pears, Crispy Bananas, Crispy Cantaloupe, Crispy Pineapples and Crispy Tangerine. Not only have I tried the Crispy Apples, Crispy Mangoes and Crispy Tangerine but also the bananas, and it is safe to say I am addicted. I love that I can get the benefits of fruit, but not the added expense and added fats as fast food.

Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Big Game Giveaway

Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Big Game Giveaway!!!

CrispyGreen_editedWe are football fans around here – San Diego Charger fans. My husband is a born and bred fan, and there was no other team to root for when he was growing up – it is his DNA! Since we are fans that rarely see play-offs, we choose to watch the game in a more passing fashion, but we partake in the snacks. This year we are taking the snacks we love, and exchanging them for variations of things we love.

Back in July of 2015 I reviewed a company called Crispy Green and their product called Crispy Fruit – 7/15 review here.

Crispy Green has seven flavors of freeze-dried fruit including Crispy Apples, Crispy Mangoes, Crispy Asian Pears, Crispy Bananas, Crispy Cantaloupe, Crispy Pineapples and Crispy Tangerine. I tried the Crispy Apples, Crispy Mangoes and Crispy Tangerine and they were so good I knew they would make the snack cut. I love that I can get the benefits of fruit, but not the cholestrol and fatty ingredients.

Rani’s Nutrafoods: Yummy Holiday 2015 Giveaway!

Rani’s Nutrafoods: Yummy Holiday 2015 Giveaway!!!

4 Product collage Rani's YummysI am always in a state of learning. As a review blogger I get items from some companies that I have never heard of prior to that interaction. This happens more often than not, and when it does I have a standard of practices that I follow when this does happen. The first thing I do is I hit up my trusted search engine that rhymes with “Louggle”. Once I find the home page of the company I dig in and read as much as I can to learn as much as I can from the information provided. The second thing I do is go back to my search engine and begin looking for articles and any information about the company that I can find. I enjoy reading the good, the bad and if need be, the ugly. I like to compare and contrast my opinions vs others.

This was the process I followed back in September when I originally reviewed Rani’s Nutrafoods Yummy Shooters product. I learned that the company was born out of a need of wanting a healthy snack that provided energy and wanted to give them the same flavor profiles as the treats we all love. These are excellent on everything from ice cream to making your own homemade granola!

Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Holiday Giveaway

Crispy Green: Crispy Fruit Holiday 2015 Giveaway!!!

Crispy green fruitI am a crafter and so I am always looking for a healthy snack that will not leave a residue on my hands. Usually I am able to find a cracker or cookie that fits this requirement, but usually not fruit.

I tried the Crispy Apples, Crispy Mangoes and Crispy Tangerine and they were fantastic. I loved that I could get the benefits of fruit, but not the sticky hands that generally come accompany them.

Sauce Goddess: Salted Caramel Corn Review and Giveaway

Sauce Goddess PopcornWe are approaching one of my food related favorite times of the year. This is because this is when caramel popcorn become abundant in stores, online and most importantly, in my life. I love the tins that the popcorn’s comes in this time of year and have begun amassing a collection of these additional storage spaces.

I have long thought it would be great to twist the caramel with spices and create a more savory popcorn. I am happy to say that I am not alone in my wishes and have come upon that savory caramel popcorn that my taste buds desire – Sauce Goddess Salted Caramel Corn.

Kinnikinnick Soft Donut Review

Kinnikinnick Donuts: Soft Donut and Pumpkin Spice Review and Giveaway

Kinnikinnick Soft Donuts and Pumpkin Spice DonutsI have high standards where donuts are concerned and I think I have good reason to feel this way. I happen to live in donut heaven – I literally live less than 2 blocks from one donut shop and less than 5 miles from another with to many to number in between. I know this does not sound like the reasoning I gave you, but these two donut shops happen to be the top two donut shops in North San Diego County.

My favorite donut of all time has to be a chocolate cream filled with a round puffed pastry. The chocolate plays off the cream and donut dough perfect. Jason is a little more of a traditionalist in that he likes the chocolate old-fashioned. The common thread is the chocolate on the donuts. During the holidays I love a good tasting pumpkin donut and if icing is included then I am a very happy donut consumer.

The production of pumpkin donuts does not generally begin until October and abruptly ends in late December. At least that is how it has been, until now –  Kinnikinnick Foods is proud to announce that their previously seasonal and regionally limited Pumpkin Spice donuts are now a permanent part of their product line and available year round. Also new to the Kinnikinnick Foods family is Soft Donuts with Vanilla Icing in addition to their existing Chocolate Donuts and Cinnamon Sugar Donuts.

Party-Tizers Dippin’s Chips Review

Let me start by saying that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of That’s How we Roll/Party-Tizers.. This post may contain affiliate links, but this in no way influences the review to follow.

Party-Tizers Dippin’ Chips Review and Giveaway

Party-Tizers 4 Chip CollectionI grew up in what I would consider a social home. My father always made sure that his friends knew that he was welcome in our house, and as an extension my friends were always welcome. One of my favorite things to do was go after school on a Friday afternoon and head to the grocery store and stock up on treats for the weekend. This usually consisted of different ice creams, ingredient to make our own cookies and of course chips with an proper dip.

In today’s health conscious world it is not uncommon to see different combinations of ingredients made into the things that are common. When I was younger I never thought i would see the day that I would even consider eating chips with kale, spinach, beans and grains. I liked simple corn flavored chips and rarely deviated from that limited selection.

I was sent a wonderfully full box from Party-Tizer and That’s How We Roll. The box I received has 4 bags of chips – Potato Sea Salt Dippin’ Chips, Fiesta Bean Dippin’ Chips, Super Grain Dippin’ Chips and Veggie Dippin’ Chips. The concept behind these chips are that they are dipping chips to enable them to easily be dipped. The shape lends itself to resemble a mini bowl shape, which makes it easy to load in dip.

Gourmet Nuts Review

Gourmet Nuts Review and Giveaway

Gourmet Nut 3 items plus powerupWe are a snack house. I can try to deny it, but the reality of the situation is that we like our snacks. I do have admit that there has been an evolution of our snacks during Jason and I’s time together. When we started dating we would purchase a lot of processed foods and sugary drinks. I think that this was due to the home we were living in was with others, and having such factors as opposing schedules and kitchen restrictions. Shortly after we moved into our first home together and we began to realize that we could eat healthier without the preservatives. This period is marked with a learning curve and a lot of trying new things.

This latest evolution of our snacking is the most exciting and quite possibly the healthiest. When we moved to our current house it was special because it was the first house we bought. With the house came a invigoration to cook and to make our own snacks. This latest progression has been a bit slower to catch on (we like our convenience) but far more fulfilling (nutritiously and emotionally). We tend to like our own food before the previously enjoyed fast food and sugar filled snacks.

We knew we wanted healthy, natural and few preservatives and sugars as possible when we began our transition. In the preparation of this new culinary phase of our lives we came upon Gourmet Nut. Gourmet Nut was created when a bunch of friends got together and discussed the lack of high quality, everyday gourmet snacks. People who love good food as much as we are learning to, that was something that I can support.

SuperSeedz: Gourmet Pumpkin Seeds Review

SuperSeedz: Gourmet Pumpkin Seeds Review and GiveawaySuperSeeds Complete Product

If we like it or not fall is coming. With fall comes the annual tradition of carving the pumpkin. The best part of pumpkin carving, at least in my opinion, is the guts that come out of the pumpkin that is recently been slaughtered/carved. While the contents can be wet and goopy at times, there are treasures contained in the web of strings.

The seeds contained in the strings have many uses including being transformed into soup, being baked inside breads, included in trail mix and being baked with various seasonings. I have never been brave enough or confident enough in my abilities to make these myself but have always loved them. Lucky for me there is a company that is taking the wonderfulness of the pumpkin seed and mixing them with some expected and some unexpected spices.

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to sample and review all of SuperSeedz flavors which included Maple Sugar & Sea Salt, Really Naked, Sea Salt, Cinnamon Sugar, Coco Joe, Tomato Italiano, Curious Curry, Somewhat Spicy and Super Spicy. I have given a better description to each below:
