Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – October 2016 Review

peaches-and-petals-october-2016As I listen to my husband sniffle and snort I realize that the weather is changing, and with that comes the fall holidays.

With the fall holidays comes the scents, conversations and planning for the next 8 weeks. With the weather changing the temperature is dropping and when I saw the October Peaches and Petals box I was reminded of the approaching days.

The boxes contents all revolve around the “Pumpkin Spice and Everything Nice” theme and are appropriate, and useful while constantly remaining in theme.

Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2016

Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review – October 2016

barktober-fest-october-2016It is official – Meadow is 1 year old!

Since her birthday just passed I feel it appropriate to commemorate the last year of her life. In the past year she has seen the vet a couple times, she has recently discovered the dog park and other “doodles” just like her! She loves my father and my father sure does love her, and it is reflective each time I see the two of them interaction.

My favorite thing about Meadow is that she has learned that I am her human sister and when I call I always get a bark! When I saw this months Pet Treater and the theme “Barktober Fest“, it seemed appropriate with her one year of life. Continue reading

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription Review: October 2016

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription – “Black Cats” – October 2016 – Review + Giveaway

cat-lady-october-2016-contentsThe season of black cats and pumpkins – Halloween is almost here.

When I received the “Black Cat” themed Cat Lady Box , the first thing that i thought of was the upcoming Halloween holiday and the uptick in black cat adoptions.

The black cat is full of myth and lore, and it is advised to not walk in the path of a black cat or suffer 7 years of bad luck, or something to that effect. As we approach the holiday the tendency for black cats to disappear becomes less myth and lore and more reality. It is advised that black cat owners keep their cats close to home and indoors the days before and a day or two after – witches like black cats.

These boxes are consistently great each month and are “purrfectly” curated and each month is better than the last.

The Hippie Hobby Box – DIY Melt & Pour Soap Review

The Hippie Hobby Box: DIY Melt & Pour Soap Review + Giveaway

finished-soapEach month I have the opportunity to review a couple different boxes, and of those the ones that make allow me to create something are among my favorite.

Soap making has always been on my craft “to-do” list, but the idea of using lye has always been a bit overwhelming to me. While I often have the chance to make candles, the art of soap making has been a little out of my sights.

When I received the newest The Hippie Hobby Box I was excited to see that this boxes craft was soap making. What I noticed was this was a simple easy way to make the soap I have been fearful of making otherwise. Each month the spirit of DIY and up-cycling are fused into one monthly do-it-yourself project with this monthly kit.

Purr Packs Monthly Subscription Box – September 2016

Purr Packs Monthly Subscription Box – “Septempurr” – September 2016 – Review

septempurr-purr-packs-box-contentsWe are the proud humans to two cats, both of them adopted as kittens from the local shelter. Murfee was first and he started his life with us at a mere 9 weeks old. He was the runt of the litter, found in an open field when he was a couple of days old with no mom or siblings in the area. How he got there and how he survived, as well as found is a mystery to us. Maggee entered our lives when she was a 9 months old, after she had been shuttled from home to home while pregnant.

Our two have been raised together and despite our best efforts are not the “bff’s” we had hoped, although this is not to say they don’t get along, it is just obvious they are not best friends. They are different, and each one has their own likes, own food loves (Murfee loves dairy based treats and Maggee loves everything else!)

There is one time a month that they put aside their differences and join together as the friends we had always hoped – when they get a box curated to them! When I recently got a Purr Packs Monthly Subscription Box these differences were put aside.

Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review – September 2016

september-2016-pet-treaterAs shocking as it seems, we are creeping closer to Meadow’s first birthday and she has grown leaps and bounds since her arrival into our lives.

Each time I see her she has such a excitement to see me, and I feel like it is the first time she is seeing me. When I call my father, I also must say the obligatory hello to Meadow. This past month when we went over to see her, she got some good run time from her human brother-in-law. I had not seen her interact with someone who would give her a good fight, and it was nice to see the teeth bare and the growl present.

Despite the tough demeanor, Meadow remained her sweet self and reminded me that she is “Ain’t Nothing But a Hound Dog” which happened to be this months Pet Treater theme.

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – September 2016 Review

Peaches & Petals Subscription Box – September 2016 Review

september-2016-box-contentsThe concept of cute and I have never been something that fit together. I never considered things “cute” by societies standards and while that made me a little different from my peers, it also made me unique.

I believe that uniqueness is a quality that many young people are losing. People seem to be more concerned with going with the crowd rather than celebrating what makes them unique. There are many ways to be cute, while keeping your own individuality.

When I saw the September Peaches and Petals box I was happy to see a box that celebrates the concept of uniqueness. The boxes contents all revolve around the “Cuteness Overload” theme and are appropriate, and useful while always remaining in theme.

Mini Monthly Box of Awesome – September 2016 Review

Mini Monthly Box of Awesome – September 2016 Review + Giveaway

box-of-awesome-september-2016I have mentioned in the past that I love random mail – the problem with mail these days is that there is not a lot of random involved.

The mail used to contain marriage announcements that are now made on social media, baby announcements that are made via group texting and job and life announcements made via email.

When you sign up for a Mini Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome by That Daily Deal.com you replace the junk mail with a monthly surprise. Each month, similar to the regular box that is offered, there is no theme is chosen. Instead of theme a random selection of 2 – 3 gender neutral items are included in this white package.

Paper Pumpkin September 2016 Kit Review

Paper Pumpkin – Something Good To Eat – September 2016 Kit Review and Giveaway

something-good-to-eat-kitThe neighborhood I live in is one in which we all know each other, and are friendly. Last year during the holidays I gave each of my neighbors a gift that I thought they might enjoy. The gifts ranged from mugs to pet gifts. The best part was that everyone loved it, and it inspired another neighbor who made all the neighbors fleece blankets.

In an effort to become best neighbor ever, I wanted to do something special for people for the upcoming Halloween holiday since we do not get trick or treaters. I had not decided the exact way I was going to deliver this treat, but as I often say, timing is everything.

When I received the September 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit “Something Good To Eat” happens to be the perfect way for me to deliver a small amount of treats to many neighbors.

Cat Lady Box Monthly Subscription – “Fall Back” – September 2016 – Review and Giveaway

september-fall-back-boxBe careful and don’t blink or you may miss it – fall has arrived!

With the arrival of fall also comes with cooler days, cooler nights and time changes. The time change has always been something that I do not adjust well to. Twice a year we are either “springing” forward or “falling” back. When I was young I would use this as excuse to why I was either running late or early, depending on the desired responses.

Now that I am older and clocks tend to adjust on their own my excuses are less and less valid. Despite my mixed feelings, fall has arrived and when I received the September Cat Lady Box and saw the theme of “Fall Back” those memories returned. Consistently each month is “purrfectly” curated and each month is better than the last.
