Naturtint Permanent Hair Colorant Review
To many people I won the genetic lottery: blonde hair and blue eyes. There is a downside to this genetic win, blonde jokes – so, so many blonde jokes. By the time I was late into my high school journey I finally grew tired of the constant jokes that did not apply to me. I began dying my hair and for that first color I went totally different – Red! There was no easing into this opposite spectral color, I was all in from the start.
Flash forward 20 years and admittedly I am older, smarter, wiser and I realize what a gift it is to still have my natural blond hair. I still yearn for the easy change I can make to my appearance, but hate the idea of all the harmful chemicals that are used in modern-day at home hair coloring box systems. One of the worst parts about coloring your own hair is the strong ammonia smell that inevitably fills your bathroom and surrounding area. I know that my two cats avoid me like the plague when I am coloring my hair due to the smell, I think it burns their little noses.
Something in me has been brewing, and I knew I wanted a change, so I began looking for alternatives to the potentially dangerous options for hair coloring that are currently available. I happened upon Natrutint during my searching. I reached out to this plant-based hair color company to do a review and they were generous enough to send me a color to try. I chose color “5G Light Golden Chestnut” – which on the box looks like a brown with hints of blond.

I really liked how the box included everything needed and included the following:
- 2.1 oz Naturtint Colorant Bottle
- 2.1 oz Naturtint Color Developer Applicator Bottle
- Naturtint Shampoo Sachette
- Nutrideep Multiplier Sachette (aka Conditioner/Moisturizer)
- Instruction Leaflet and Protective Gloves
The instructions say to combine the colorant and developer together and shake for 2 minutes – I did this and I felt as though it got a nice creamy color to apply to my hair.
I placed the gloves on my hands and began the application process. The instructions stated Naturtint will totally cover grey hair on the first application, and also that the applied color would be longer lasting. The reason for the longer lasting color is the sunflower extract, that is in the Nutrideep Multipliers, that protects against the elements your hair receives each day. I started out with a greyish/blond color and an overall scattered coloring so I was looking forward to seeing the after results.
I kept the coloring on for a little over 30 minutes. While I usually sequester myself in the bathroom during the waiting time I did not have to this time. The reason I finally felt like I could be with Jason and the cats while I waited was the lack of ammonia in the coloring. With the absence of ammonia came the absence of the burning of my kitties noses. At the end of the allotted time, I jumped in the shower and began to rinse my hair, and used the included multiplier and shampoo that was included in the box.
The color that I ended up with was a bit more red than the package led me to believe, but still a wonderful color. 
The thing that got my attention was the ingredient list which read in part of hydrolyzed vegetable proteins, Linseed Extract, Lemon Fruit Extract, Sunflower Extract and Omega-9.
I found the process easy and simple. The instructions are clear, concise and informative. When I woke up the morning after the coloring I noticed my hair felt better than it has in all the years i have been coloring it. I WILL be buying this again!
