Perky Jerky Review
Confession: I love energy drinks and the extra boost they provide. I decided that on my trek to 40 years old, I would abandon some of the unhealthy habits of my 30’s. I decided that the easiest and possibly healthiest decision I could make would be to get rid of the weekly/every other day energy drinks I had come to rely on. I think the current levels of caffeine in the drinks can be high and honestly a bit dangerous for those with known or even unknown heart conditions. I often say to Jason that I wish I could get the energy boost without the dangerous heart implications – enter Perky Jerky.
Perky Jerky is an all natural ultra premium beef and all natural ultra premium turkey jerky that contains Guarana (a natural source of caffeine).
The beginnings of this jerky company are almost comical in nature. After a night of drinking energy infused cocktails a couple friends embarked on their day long ski slope adventure. While reaching for a snack, they discovered that as luck would have it, their energy drink spilled into their jerky and Perky Jerky was born. The most amazing thing about this serendipitous occurrence is that the jerky retained it’s original flavor but the meat became very moist.
The creators set out to make a jerky that would have the energy benefits without compromising the natural flavor of the meat (can you imagine Rockstar infused jerky? – probably not). Jerky is a great source of protein, as well as being low in calories, has low carbohydrates, contains no nitrates, no preservatives and no added MSG. The jerky is marinated overnight in all natural ingredient blend making it moist and flavorful.

I have never had a good jerky, and was not sure what to expect. When I opened the package I was surprised to see it was not the typical dry and tough looking jerky I have tried in the past. Perky Jerky was kind enough to send me one bag their Original Ultra Premium Beef Jerky and one bag of their Original Ultra Premium Turkey Jerky to sample and I have to say, they surprised me. The Turkey Jerky was moist, as was the Original flavor of jerky and the only complaint I had was that there was not enough in the package. They come in 2.2oz packages and 5oz packages (select flavors available in this added size) and in 5 flavors: Original, Sweet & Spicy, Teriyaki, Hot & Bothered, and the Turkey jerky is also available in Jamaican Style.
This is good jerky with a wonderful cause, a portion of their earnings go to the research and support of the Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy and Down Syndrome research. I really like companies that have a heart, and see the impact that they can make through charitable contributions and giving back.
