Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – January 2016 Review

January 2016 Box ContentsSince I live in San Diego each year we have the geek universe descend upon us in the form of the yearly Comic Convention or Comic-Con as San Diegan’s call it. I was lucky enough to be able to attend “Con” back in the early 90’s when it was more comic book driven, and less big budget.

I think back on these early days, and I realize how far i have come in my geek evolution. Back in the early 90’s the big budget movies were the only ones that I really cared about. Now I appreciate the art, the cinema and story behind some of the smaller movies. I also now realize the talent and effort involved in creating the comics. Also back in those early days, the role-playing world was represented which worked well for me since my friends were role-players.

I have mentioned in the past that I am a nostalgic person. I often I wish I could travel back and watch and attend that first “Con” with the knowledge I have today. Each month I get my education expanded when I receive the monthly Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription Box celebrates those cartoon days. I was eager to open this months box and as with previous months I was eager to see what the box contained and I was not disappointed.

Included in this months box was the following:

A Brief History of Time TravelExclusive Geek Fuel T-Shirt – T-Shirt – ‘A Brief History of Time Travel’ – This months exclusive t-shirt is an illustrated history of time travel. The important moments are mentioned and include H.G Wells ‘The Time Machine’, Dr Who, Back to the Future, Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure, Terminator and Hot Tub Time Machine. There are few better representations of time travel as this shirt.

The 8-bit breath savers were available in either Mario or Link, and we received Link. These are a perfect addition to Jason’s desk at work and a great item to share. We also received a Starlabs Coffee Mug to assist in their research from the various strains of caffeine and their positive effects. l needed a mug for the house, as Jason has slowly taken all my other mugs to work.

In this game you are in charge of guiding your oblivious character to the exit, of course guiding through obstacles and road blocks. This is a puzzle game, that is creative and mind bending leftward facing 3-d puzzle. Included was a list of 10 tips to make the guiding of your pedestrians going left, a little easier.

Bonus PackageBonus – Pillow Case and Star Wars Vader Down Comic: I received this bonus package with my monthly box and it included a General Akbar pillowcase, which I had also received previously in the October 2015 box. I was thrilled to get  a second one, as now I have a cute matching pillowcases that are Geeky like me! The other item I received was the comic book Star Wars Vader Down Comic. This is #001 – Variant Edition and a Certificate of Authenticity is included. This will be added to Jason’s collection that adorns his desk at work.

These geek boxes get a lot of notice at my work. I have put most of the stuff received through these at my desk at work. Helps make my cubicle stand out in the “cubicle farm” I work in. A lot of my co workers love to see what I am getting next and a few of them have got there own boxes after they saw what it comes with. I’d recommend it for guys like me, who have been long time gamer’s and get a kick out of stuff like this.
