Yoga Kitties: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Review and Giveaway

Yoga Kittys Coloring BookIt is no secret that I am a fan of cats – furry, fur-less and all in between. There is an innocence and a peaceful nature that cats hold, that despite my best efforts, I can not resist. Currently we are a two cat household, Murfee and Maggee. We adopted our Murfee when he was only 9 weeks old and when his ears were larger than his head. Maggee was added about a year and half later when she was just under a year old. Not only are these two my review and constant companions, but they are unique in “purr-sonality”.

Murfee is our trouble maker and Maggee is our sweet cuddle bug. Murfee has always been our cat that looks for the exploit in any situation and then thinks nothing of it when he gets into trouble. Maggee on the flip side never looks for trouble and listens as well as most dogs. Both of our cats love being held and are always down for belly rubs. If I had to choose overall, I would say that my Maggee is my calm soul and Murfee is my chaotic soul.

I have been using my Maggee’s calm soul to calm my own soul so when I heard a yoga themed cat coloring book I had to investigate further as yoga can also calm the soul. The book Yoga Kitties: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Dawn Collins is a fun yoga and cat themed coloring book.

Yoga Kitties: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Bookย contains 30 different cats in yoga poses to color. Each sheet is one-sided which lends itself to being able to hung around your yoga room for some colorful inspiration. The designs were easy to color, and the lines were bold and easy to follow. The book, unfortunately, does not lie flat but I was able to crack the binding and get a flat surface from it. Also of note is that the book’s pages are glued to the binding, making tearing the picture out a little more jagged, so take care or use a cutting device to get the page out. There is room around the photo to cut a frame out.

Yoga Kitties Sample PagesWhat makes this book different from other cat coloring books is that each page is not only a cat in a yoga pose, but each pose is named. Some of the poses covered in this book is the Fish Pose, Half Moon Pose, Warrior II Pose, One Legged Royal Pigeon Pose, Side Plank with Toe Hold and Dancer Pose to name a few. Each one is unique and once you start coloring the relaxation washes over you.

The one thing I would recommend is place a piece of paper under the page you are coloring when using pens to avoid bleed through to other pages. If you are using colored pencils or crayons this will not be a concern, but I would still place a paper in between the pages to preserve the clean flat nature of the next yoga cat I color.

This book exemplifies how I see my Maggee, calm yet strong and deliberate in her moves. I had a blast coloring through this book and I can imagine anyone liking cats will see their cats in one or two of these pages.

If you want to go on your own yoga filled adventuress I would HIGHLY recommend Yoga Kitties: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Dawn Collins.

The hardest thing for me is focusing on what I am doing instead of making grocery lists, wondering what to cook for dinner, ect. This is how mistakes happen in my art pieces. I need to pay attention to what I’m doing and totally be present with my colors!

Letting my imagination run wild and using different colors than what’s expected.

I am a artist so I don’t really think there is anything hard about coloring. I can tell you it relaxes me and puts me in a good mood.

I think the toughest thing about coloring is choosing the colors

Crayons aren’t the same as they were when I was young. So, I’d say having to get used to coloring today.

In which way? I have not noticed much of a crayon difference although I suppose they were a little waxier when I was young.

The hardest thing about coloring is the details of the coloring pages, books, etc.

Probably finding color combos that work perfect together! I’m not very good at that. Instead i like to pick a area. and close my eyes and pick a color. Lisa Frank Style ๐Ÿ˜€

Love adult coloring books, picking the medium and colors are hard. Love your tips about blank paper behind page of the one coloring for support and protecting for bleed thru. Great ideas.

I don’t find coloring hard at all. I love it. It’s such a stress reliever. I guess a “difficult” thing would be keeping my kitten out of the colored pencils and having the room to spread out with everything. But that’s not really a big deal in the long run.

Keeping the coloring medium from leaving streaks/obvious lines inside the area where you’ve colored!
