Take A Hike Adult Coloring Book Review

Take A Hike: An Outdoor Coloring Adventure Review and Giveaway

take-a-hikeOf all the things that I like doing there is one thing that I am not particularly fond of – Camping. There is a reason I feel this way – I had a bad camping experience, although I did not know it at the time. The person who took me camping believed in MRE’s (Meals Ready to Eat – commonly consumed in the field in the military) as meals, rock climbing without teaching and sleeping on the rocks.

Now when I met my current husband, I relayed this camping adventure to him, and he with a horrified look told me that camping was not like that at all. As I sat there he told me of disappearing for the day fishing, his mom’s homemade food in the middle of Mammoth, and hiking with his sisters. I took his word as true, after all he had gone camping with his family 3 weeks every year since he was a kid!

When I received a copy of Take A Hike: An Outdoor Coloring Adventure by Blue Star Coloring and Jared Wright he was immediately taken back to those long days of fishing, camping and fireside chats.

Let say that the products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Blue Star Publishing. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Take A Hike: An Outdoor Coloring Adventure by Blue Star Coloring and Jared Wright has over 30 images that will remind adults of camping adventures. There are images of camping gear, fishing trophies, sleeping outside and encountered creatures.

take-a-hike-1As I have mentioned in previous Blue Star reviews, these books do not lie flat, but this does not affect the function or quality of the book. If you open the book wide and press down on the interior spine you will be able to crack the binding. Otherwise the book will not stay open on it’s own and a weight on the non coloring side would be helpful. This is not a reason to bot get the book and honestly the worst that happens is that it makes coloring a little more challenging. and this in no way affects the book.

If you want to remove the pages please note that the book is bound similar to traditional books, so take care when removing the pages. I use my typical recommendation which is to be cautious when tearing or removing the page or use a cutting device such as scissors or a craft knife to get the page out since the images are close to the edges. Many of the pages cut close to the binding so take extra care when removing pages.

take-a-hike-2I would recommend placing a piece of paper under the page to be colored to avoid bleeding through to other pages. This also will assist in the prevention of creating impressions on the following pages from pressing down to hard – which I am guilty of.

Since my husband is the camping enthusiast in the house he has claimed this to use when he needs some de-stress time. This would be a cute book for anyone who loves the outdoors and camping – this book will take you away on your own personal camping trip.

I’m a tree hugger so just the natural world itself is the best part of camping.

What I love about camping is how happy the kids are, they love playing at the camp site, playing in the water and the camp fires and food.

I love the solitude of nature. It’s the one place I can just forget about everything else.
