Sugru: Moldable Glue Kit Review

Sugru: Home Hacks Made Easy Kit Review and Giveaway

sugru-home-hacks-kitsMany people who know me know that I love a good hack, and even better when the hack works.

Since we are now homeowners the home repairs fall to us and the responsibility to make repairs falls upon us. I am not going to lie, I miss the days in which I could just make a call and the repair would be completed. Sadly that is not the way things are now, and as with life, I adjust.

As many fellow homeowners can agree, everything is expensive. Even when things seem like they should be easy fixes it ends up triple the cost. When I discover hacks to fix and repair items I get excited. When Sugru Moldable Glue reached out to me, I was immediately intrigued by this moldable glue.

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Sugru/FormFormFormLTD. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

I received the Home Hacks Made Easy Kit from Sugru Moldable Glue to sample and tryout.

sugru-contentsThe Home Hacks Made Easy Kit has a mini-bounty of items included for the home hacker including the following – 5 single use packs of Sugru in Classic Red, Snow White, Pitch Black, Mossy Green and Silver Grey, a roll of tape, 2 tennis balls, a booklet full of project ideas and how-to guides, a practical storage tin that will hold 2 super-strong neodymium magnets, 2 Lego pieces, a toothpick and a small paper clip.

The first thing I thought when I saw this kit I began imagining the household hacks I could create. When I began looking through the included book I learned a bunch of things about Sugru including that it bonds permanently to plastics, metals, glass, ceramics, wood, and fabric. It is recommended that due to paints low emulsion point it is best to avoid placing this on painted wall).

sugur-colors-in-home-hacks-made-easySugru uses slow set technology which is designed to give time to mold, build, seal, bond, and fix. After a 24 hours it becomes a strong and flexible silicone rubber that is now dishwasher safe, UV stable, waterproof, and is temperature resistant to 180 degrees all the way down to 50 degrees. As an added benefit is that Sugru is electronically insulating so you can use it on cords.

I decided to use the suggestion in the enclosed book to store my shoes with tennis balls. This was a simple 5 step process and was easy to use the product to attach the balls the to inner wall of our closet. This gives me a simple easy place to hang shoes that I often wear, but keeps them out of the way. I plan to purchase more tennis balls and put a couple of these around the areas we store shoes.

If there is a problem with your hack removal is easy all you have to do is cut it off – easy peasy and Sugru comes in 10 colo

Since I am a home hacker this is a great little kit to have. If you ever need a quick fix, that looks like an expensive repair you need to buy some Sugru.

Also, want to make your Sugru last 3 times longer – pop it in the refrigerator!

My hack that I discovered is that vinegar makes a wonderful natural cleaning product to use.

I used to have ants trying to come through my balcony door. I used chalk to draw a line and they wouldn’t cross it. It was a simple hack that didn’t cause any ants to die.

I use essential oils in the dryer instead of chemical dryer sheets.

To remove rust from tools, nuts, bolts and screws, fill a quart-sized jar with white vinegar. Add the rusty items to the vinegar, and soak overnight
