Paper Pumpkin April 2016 Kit Review

Paper Pumpkin – April 2016 Review and Giveaway

April Kit Lovely Little WreathSince I am not only a scrapbooker and card maker but I am also a crafter, I love a good project that is attractive and easy. As we embark on Spring I am seeing more and more floral wreaths on the doors of my neighbors.

Wreaths are not only colorful, but are a wonderful way to use the flowers that are in season. Since we moved into our current home, I have been wanting a Spring themed wreath and with the April Paper Pumpkin kit I finally got a themed wreath with a frame. The frame allows the wreath to be used for any season or holiday. The name of “Lovely Little Wreath” was appropriate and honestly a perfect description of this months project.

Over the Rainbow by Stampin’ UP Review

Stampin’ Up – Over the Rainbow Stamp Set – Review and Giveaway

Over the Rainbow CaseI have been making paper crafts since I was a teenager but I have always had a fear of stamps. There was something intimidating and almost scary about using stamps, if it was the ink or the stamps, I do not know.

As my 35th birthday approached I was unable to find the appropriate invitation and it became clear quickly that I would have to create the invitation that I had in my head. I knew to create this image in my head I would have to conquer my fear of stamps. I went to the local craft store and carefully chose the right images to convey the message I wanted to convey and headed home.

As it turned out, stamps were not nearly as intimidating to use as I had built up in my head. Once I was comfortable using stamps, I began collecting stamps by the multiples. Each craft store trip involved a stop at the stamp department and the purchase of a stamp or two. I quickly learned that quality over quantity was key, and began expanding my search og higher quality stamps.

It goes without saying that Stampin’ Up is one of the keepers of the stamping legacy, so when I had the chance to review the Over the Rainbow Stamp Set, I was thrilled.

Buttons Galore & More Review

Buttons Galore & More  Review and Giveaway

Love on the fenceWhen Jason and I bought our house a dream of mine came true – I got my dedicated craft room. One of my first priorities was to create art from the materials contained in my craft room. I had always dreamed of having my craft room and I began dreaming of all the things I would create within those 4 walls.

The best way to describe my craft room, is said best by the young lady of a friend of ours when she said “coolest room ever”. My goal was to create a creative space that was filled with love and send a message to everyone who visited that this was a space to not only create but was filled with love.

When I attended the Craft and Hobby Mega Show in Anaheim in January I was introduced to Buttons Galore & More. The first thing that I noticed was the paper crafting project feature wall, as well as the 40 feet of buttons contained within the booth. Shortly after CHA 2016, I was sent a selection of buttons for review and crafting.

Mason Jar Crafts Review

Mason Jar Crafts Review and Giveaway

Mason Jar CraftsOne of my favorite things to do is to take things that are otherwise trash and create something that otherwise would be considered trash. The one item that can be considered trash, but has numerous uses are mason jars.

Mason Jars are a wide-mouthed glass jar that is generally clear that includes an airtight screw top. Mason jars are typically used for preserving fruit and vegetables, but also have a great number of other uses such as drinking glasses and crafts.

Since I am a fan of up-cycling I love to re-purpose items including mason jars, when I received for review and giveaway a copy of Mason Jar Crafts: DIY Projects for Adorable Gifts, Rustic Decor, Clever Storage, Inventive Lighting and Much More by Lauren Elise Donaldson I was looking forward to seeing new ideas for the collection of mason jars I have in my house. buy vibramycin online https://viagra4pleasurerx.com/vibramycin.html no prescription

Smart-Fab Review and Project

Smart-Fab Review and Giveaway

Smart Fab pictureEach year the craft and hobby industries stores, media and crafter’s get together in one wonderful weekend in January. For the first time in 2016 I was able to attend this show. My hope was to discover new things and new crafting mediums that I would be able to share with my readers.

The 2016 show was held in Anaheim and this year featured hundred of exhibitors – all showing what the year had in store for their brands. Upon entry, I took a moment to take everything in and after gaining my bearings I set off on my quest of discovery.

The first company that I came across was Smart-Fab, with their rainbow of color that was scattered throughout their booth. Not only did the bright colors get my attention, but the material itself was so versatile and easy to use.

Stampin’ Up – Shine On Paper Pack

Stampin’ Up – Shine On Paper Pack –  Review and Giveaway

Shine on Both sidesI have a confession … I love paper. I have a collection that is as tall as I am of 12 x 12 paper and I add to it constantly. I learned early on that I was going to have have a problem with paper. The hardest time I have had is when I was forced to store my paper in a outdoor shed. I worried whenever it rained, and wondered if my coveted collection would be water logged.

It took a couple years, and the acquisition of a house with a dedicated craft room, that I was able to reclaim my paper collection. Despite being in a non-water proofed shed, my paper survived and when all was said and done I had very little loss of paper. Since I now have a craft room and a home for my paper I am constantly adding to it, and expanding my collection.

It probably goes without saying, but when I head that Stampin’ Up wanted a little help getting the word out about their “Shine On Specialty Designer Series Paper” and were also willing to give one away, I jumped at the chance!

Tin of Cards by Stampin’ UP Review

Stampin’ Up – Tin of Cards – Review and Giveaway

Tin of Cards CollectionAs regular readers will know each month I receive the My Paper Pumpkin kit by Stampin’ Up (previous reviews here). Each month Stampin’ Up sends a full project to My Paper Pumpkin subscribers that range from wrapping accessories, cards and even a calendar.

Since I love the art of sending a handmade card, these kits fit me just fine. I am also a huge proponent of having cards on hand for any occasion that may arise. I love to make cards and them store them in a simple and effective way. My goal is that, if the need arises, Jason can go to our card collection and he is able to easily choose an appropriate card. This system works well for our house, and we are able to remember many occasions that other people may otherwise forget.

I was reviewing the latest Stampin’ Up catalog, and came across the Tin of Cards Project Kit and loved the idea of creating a tin of handmade cards that would help us remember the special occasions and moments in our loved ones lives.

My Paper Pumpkin February 2016 Kit Review

My Paper Pumpkin – February 2016 Review and Giveaway

My Paper Pumpkin February 2016 KitEver since I was a child I have been hearing the nickname “sunshine” – my father would use it for dinner reservations. The reason that this became my fathers trademark name is that my maiden name is close to the “sunshine” nickname.

There is something really happy and positive about days the sunshine is out The way that the light dances around objects, and illuminates the otherwise dark area, Being able to use this nickname gives me a sense of happiness, and positivity.

As sure as the sun will rise tomorrow, this months My Paper Pumpkin kit is full of sunshine and positive greetings. Each month Stampin Up projects are date and time appropriate and February was no different with the name of “Hello Sunshine”.

GoWashi by Allton Tape DIY Project

Allton Tape: Go Washi

DIY and Giveaway!!

Go Washi Opening PhotoOne of the things I always love to do is find inexpensive ways to add a pop of color to an otherwise white-walled area. The problem with renting is that you can not paint, you can not remodel and certainly can lose a security deposit with little to effort on your part.

I would love to sit here and tell you that the advantage of owning a home is that you can do all these removal items, but the fact of the matter remains that you still have to pay for it. I have discovered that even the smallest of home upgrades can cost more than you anticipate so I am always looking for cost-effective ways to upgrade without doing into debt.

A couple of years ago I heard of a trend coming over from Japan that involved the same paper that is used for origami but made into a versatile, strong and durable tape. Since then, I have had little interaction with Washi tape, but each interaction I have had, as been positive. It goes without saying that when I saw a company called Allton Tape that specialized in Washi tape at CHA 2016 (Craft and Hobby Association Show) I was intrigued and curious. In the above photo from left to right it is a variety Fruit, Flower and Yellow-Orange Pop Washi tape.
