Paper Pumpkin – April 2016 Review and Giveaway
Since I am not only a scrapbooker and card maker but I am also a crafter, I love a good project that is attractive and easy. As we embark on Spring I am seeing more and more floral wreaths on the doors of my neighbors.
Wreaths are not only colorful, but are a wonderful way to use the flowers that are in season. Since we moved into our current home, I have been wanting a Spring themed wreath and with the April Paper Pumpkin kit I finally got a themed wreath with a frame. The frame allows the wreath to be used for any season or holiday. The name of “Lovely Little Wreath” was appropriate and honestly a perfect description of this months project.
This month is a complete kit to make a versatile Lovely Little Wreath.
Each month I look forward to the 10 by 6.5 red box, and this month I was excited when I opened the box and saw the enclosed kit. Each month the kit comes complete with the items you need to create the project for the month. Included in this months box was the following:
- Lovely Little Wreath Photopolymer Stamp Set
- Very Vanilla Craft Stamping Spot Ink
- 1 Foam Wreath Form
- 1 Frame with Twine
- 12 sheets of leaf cutouts
- 4 sheets of cotton paper flowers
- 1 sheet of Chalkboard Tags
- 1 sheet die-cut Branches
- 5 ft. of Vanilla Cotton Ribbon
- 50 Adhesive Dots
Included with each box are written instructions with full-color photos but also there is an instructional video available (Online Instructions) to help you complete the project each month.

This months stamp included stamps that are geared towards the Spring season and Mother’s Day. These 4 clear polymer stamps include words and a coordinating image. The included stamps on this months kit is a little more on the specific end so the versatility is not quite as much as with previous kits. Despite the limited use, there was a flower stamp that could be used any time.
Included was a stamp pad in Very Vanilla – this is a simple white that stamps perfectly on the enclosed chalkboard tags. I loved the juxtaposition of the white ink on a black background, which provided a nice wording for this wreath.

The centerpiece to this months project was the wreath. I will be honest and tell you that when I first saw this project I was a little overwhelmed – I could not see how I would attach these leaves so cleanly and evenly. Lucky for my anxiety these came pre-cut and adhesive ready. Once I popped the leaves out of the sheets they were in, I removed the adhesive strip and began the attaching of the leaves. This ended up being far easier and quicker than I anticipated since it only took a simple wrapping motion to achieve the above look. After all was said and done I ended up with 4 extra leaf strips.
The flowers were just as easy as the wrapping of the wreath. The flowers simply needed to be separated and then folded 2 times, and attached. The result is a flower that seems to pop off the branches, and adds dimension to an otherwise flat branch.
The final detail was the addition of the ribbon, which really does finish this wreath off and makes it appropriate for display.
As I mentioned last month March 2016 was a milestone month for Stamp’n Up/Paper Pumpkin – the 1,000,000 kit was mailed! As a special treat every kit in April 2016 included an exclusive stamp set called “All about Everything”. The stamps included in this set encompasses celebrations and images – the perfect combo for a handmade expression of love and appreciation.
I have to say that this was one of my favorite kits – it combined my crafting and DIY while providing all the supplies needed in one box. I would be thrilled if Paper Pumpkin did these type kits more often – this was A LOT of fun to complete.
