Getting to Know You!
I was sitting here and it occurred to me that I many of you visit but many of you don’t know me and I want to change that!
I am going to be starting to share parts of my life with you all, including the silly things I do, the things that I buy, the crafts I am working on. I am not leaving the reviews and giveaways, but I want to get to know you all better.

So in that spirit, let’s get to know each other – as many of you know my name is Jennifer. I am in my early 40’s. I would love to tell you that I went into this new decade with ease and grace, but I have entered kicking and screaming. I was not quite ready to turn 40, so I will be sharing those struggles with you all as well.
I am married to Jason, who I have actually known since I was 16 – yes 16! Jason was my male best friend and we lost touch for many years. I moved away, had an entire different life, and shortly after I moved back to San Diego, Jason reached out to me on Facebook.
As with old friends we began to hang out, and in a short amount of time we discovered that we had the same goals, and wanted the same things out of life. We began a relationship and once the reminents of my past life were gone, we married. We have been married 5 years this past December.
We live in a beach community in San Diego in what is best described as a shrinky dink house. We live in our tiny home with our two cats – Maggee and Murfee. Each of these cats were adopted from our local shelter when they were young.

A couple fun facts about me – I watch Jimmy Kimmel every night after my local news, I love blankets and have quite a collection despite living in California and I am still friends with my two best friends from high school – going on over 25 years!
So, as I venture into this new phase what do you want to know? Do you want to see the crafts I do? Do you want to see the cats? What do you want to see?
I am excited to give you all a glimpse into our life – it is quite wonderful and wacky!
Until next time – Jennifer

Nice to ‘meet’ you Jennifer! I live in Illinois and love blankets too, its really cold here though. I just learned to crochet in the last year and just finished my very first blanket. I have 2 friends who live in Cali and I had tried to think of something I could crochet that they would be able to enjoy but maybe blankets would work for them too! lol I would love to hear more about your crafts as I am a crafty person too. Oh and the cats as well. I have one cat who rescued me… I was recovering from double mastectomy surgery and sitting out on the porch and she came by to visit me every day. She was a feral and wouldn’t let me pet her for over 2 weeks but eventually she warmed up and now she is part of the family. I always say she saved me that day, she cheered me up in one of my darkest moments and gave me something to look forward to getting up out of my chair for every day.
I was born in Illinois (Rockford) and my brother lives in Naperville.
I am a SUPER crafty person.. I plan to post about my crafts and the things i undertake around here. I am always thinking of new crafts and new creations.
What is your cats name? I love that story!! I know sometimes it is good to have something greater than yourself to take care of – my cats always cheer my up when I need it and while my husband works they hang with me! 🙂
I am sooo happy to “meet” you too!
Awesome, Naperville and Rockford are both north of me, I am in Pontiac which is about 80 miles south of Chicago or just half an hour north of Bloomington which is home to State Farm insurance and Illinois State University.
I just call her Miss Kitty, I tried several names on her and none of them fit. So she just stayed with Miss Kitty or Miss K.
Nice to meet you! Hey I am a Midwesterner too, I live in NE Iowa. I am a quilter,so have more fabric than one woman can ever use 😉 I am the one who does TNR and socializes feral kittens to find good homes for. I have 5 cats that own me- they are the ones people wanted to adopt, but changed their minds or in some cases are too medically fragile. I also feed a feral colony.
I would love to see your shrinky dink house you know all of us flatlanders love the beach!
Hi Ellen!
I will get to work on a post about my shrinky dink house! Keep your eyes out! 🙂
I think what you do with kittens/cats is awesome! I can NOT imagine my world without Maggee and Murfee – they add to our lives and made a our house a home!

Hi Jennifer, I am Brenda it’s a pleasure to finally put a name to a face. And to get to know you.
Reading about how you found love is so humbling. These days everyone is meeting online and it is terrifying. I think it helps a lot when you already established a strong friendship with someone that you already know and go from there.
I am not in my 40s but I can resonate with not wanting to get older. The concept of time still boggles my mind. So I think a post about aging or what you wish you know before hitting 20s, 30s, or even 40s might be nice.
Also, I never been to San Diego and I’m not sure if you travel but it would be nice to get a little tour of places you like to go there.
HI Brenda!
I am still bumping into my 40’s and it is much harder than I ever anticipated, sadly i lost my grandmother shortly before 40 and that made the push into this new decade a bit harder. I will share more in a upcoming post.
It is funny you say you want a “tour”, as Jason and I have discussed this in the past so I will definitely work on it!
I tried online dating at one point and you are right, it was SCARY!!! I will have to do a post about that horrible time period in my life.
Thanks for visiting and keep reading, I have so many ideas in store for you all!
Jennifer
