Geek Fuel Monthly Subscription – August Review
I have spoken before about my conversion over to the dark side, which in my world means gaming. The first experience I had with a game was Assassins Creed 3 – I loved the idea that I could walk around and interact with my environment in a new way in which I never had before in games. The next game that captured my attention was Fallout 3 – Jason was playing it and I found myself spending more time watching him play then I was anything else.
Since Jason saw where I was headed in my world of gaming, he had purchased Fallout: New Vegas, in the eventuality of my gaming evolution (as he referred to it at the time). I began to play Fallout: New Vegas and discovered I really loved the game. From the Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System, to the PIP Boy, Mr. House, the exploring and the story and many paths it could take. Undoubtedly, this game fed my love of open world games and showed me what a game could be.
Needless to say I am more than excited that Fallout 4 is coming in a couple of short months and that this fact was mentioned in this months Geek Fuel monthly subscription box. There are few things that pack as much geek themed punch as the monthly subscription box from Geek Fuel. When I received the August themed box and as I have been in previous months, I was eager to see what it contained. It had been announced that there would be either a Wolverine or Spiderman Officially Licensed product in the August box. Included in this months box was the following:
Exclusive Geek Fuel T-Shirt – $10.00 T-Shirt – ‘Deadpool’ This shirt was announced early to drum up excitement about this months box and I am sure it did. For those of you not in the know, Deadpool will tell the story of a Special Forces operative who is subjected to experiments which leave him with healing powers and the alter ego of Deadpool. This month 1 lucky winner could have received a Chimichanga inspired Mexican feast courtesy of Geek Fuel – DealsAmongUs did not win this Mexican feast but some lucky subscriber did.
The World According to Wolverine – $15.00 – When it was announced that this months box contain either Wolverine or a Spiderman product, Jason told me he was hoping for Wolverine since of the 2 characters that is his favorite. I am happy to say Jason got his wish and he got a “World According to Wolverine” book. This is a 62 page, full color, hard bound book that includes a poster and misc. memorabilia important to Wolverine. This is going to make a excellent addition to Jason’s growing collection at work.
Pocket Key Chain – Adventure Time – 5.00 – Either Finn or Jake was included in this months box and while I do not watch Adventure Time this will make a cute stocking stuffer for a niece or nephew of ours this holiday season.
Lollipop – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle – $3.00 – I will be 100% honest with you and tell you that I was apprehensive to trying this Sour Apple lollipop, partially because my lollipop loving days are behind me. I did save this as a stocking stuffer for our nephew – he loves lollipops and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, which equals cool Aunt and Uncle.
Fallout Series – Post Apocalyptic Magnet – $5.00 – This is something that our house needed and I am surprised that this is our first bottle cap from Nuka-Cola. This will be a daily reminder of how I love games and despite how busy I get, the Fallout world is waiting. Plus the cardboard it is mounted on would make an awesome bookmark!
Geek Fuel exclusive game – Aaru’s Awakening – $15.00 – This comes with a game code and its own teleportation charges (really it is a 50 pack of those poppers you remember from your youth). This is a side scrolling, puzzle game that takes you to world of Lumenox – the game is as pretty as it is challenging.

After all is said and done, I will lose many hours to the upcoming Fallout game, like many of my geeky brothers and sisters. I am happy I decided to pause my life, watch Jason play that day, it opened my eyes in a way that had never been done before. I recommend this kind of awakening and monthly box to all my fellow geeks – you never know what you will discover!
