Duct Tape Bags Review

Duct Tape Bags: 40 Tape-Based Projects for Totes, Clutches, Messenger Bags, and Bowlers Review and Giveaway

Duct Tape BagsA couple of months ago I had an idea – make a bag that would be customer sized and used as a trash receptacle in my car. I wanted something in the colors I loved, but also ones that would look natural in a grey interior car. As I began this search, I realized that I would be searching for quite some time. Apparently the trash container market for cars is limited and I would not find what I was looking for.

It goes without saying that when I received a copy of Duct Tape Bags: 40 Tape-Based Projects for Totes, Clutches, Messenger Bags, and Bowlers by Richela Fabian Morgan I did not think this was the answer I was looking for – I was WRONG!

The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Smith Publicity/Duct Tape Bags. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.

Duct Tape Bags: 40 Tape-Based Projects for Totes, Clutches, Messenger Bags, and Bowlers by Richela Fabian Morgan is a full color with full explanations to make all kind of bags.

Before bagIt was in this book that I found a bag that I could adjust the size, and make the colors I wanted and end up with the perfect reusable trash bag for the car.

As I ventured to my local store to pick up duct tape, I was surprised that a local grocery store had so many colors to choose from. As luck would have it the store was under going a huge remodel and so the first night, I settled for a couple of colors but was overall not happy. I had to go the next day to pick up more duct tape and as remodels can go, there were more colors!

Duct Tape in Yellow White and BlueRegular readers of this blog will not be surprised about my duct tape color choice’s. I chose blue, yellow for the grid and white for the straps. I decided to use the pattern for the “Life is a Beach” bag and decided to modify the size from 18 inches to closer to 12 inches and instead of 8 strips up and across I dropped it down to 7 strips.

The hardest part was the adhesion of both strips, with the sticky sides up. I will say that there is very little room for error, and to purchase extra tape, you will need it. It took me a couple (ok, ok more like a dozen) tries to line up the tape where there was no white or sticky exposed. I would recommend a you tube video to learn how to properly make these strips – it did wonders for me.

Once my adjustments were made, the attachment and the building of the bag was much simpler than i thought it would be and the color pictures throughout made the process that much easier.

Completed BagThe end result was a blue/yellow bag that can be used with a plastic bag inside or without, and hangs easily over my passenger headrest.

This collection of duct tape projects has clutches, wristlets, hobo, shoulder, messenger, flap bags and beach bags to name a few. This is over 195 pages and also includes templates of shapes when needed.

I love that duct tape was invented in World War 2, saved the Apollo 13 crew, can get rid of warts and can create functional items for personal use!

I love all the designs and the kids get a kick if I wrap one gift in it and they have to try to open it

Duct tape is awesome. My fav is fixing something with duct tape that I thought would have to be thrown out… makes me feel like MacGyver

I use duct tape for everything! My favorite way to use it is to use plain paper to wrap gifts and use printed duct tape to make it look nice.

I use duck tape for fixing things and moving but this would be a fun way to use duck tape that I never have thought of.

Duct tape is like The Force. It has a dark side and a light side and it holds the universe together.
    Thanks for the contest.
