As a Californian my entire life I have heard that “the big one” is coming, nobody knows when this event will occur or what the damage will be. I worry about this from time to time, but really as unpredictable that life is it is important to not dwell on random events like “the big one”. The one thing that I am starting to dwell on is my own looming “big one”, my 40th birthday coming up in July. With this looming shake-up of my own it has made me more aware of my beauty routine or my lack of as the case may be.

I was given the opportunity to review Dead Sea Mud Mask by Pure & Essential Minerals. I am not usually one to try anything other than a simple soap for my facial care, but have been wondering how I can “shake-up” my beauty routine and a facial mud seemed like a safe and easy way. I really did not know what to expect and went in with little to no real expectations, so I was pleasantly surprised by the process that lie ahead of me.

The Dead Sea Mud comes in a circular 6 oz jar, with a convenient screw top. When I opened the jar and removed the sealed covering, the first thing I noticed was the wonderful eucalyptus smell. I decided to look at the ingredients and noticed that they were all organic and included the following: pure dead sea mud, organic Shea butter, organic sunflower oil, organic Aloe Vera juice, organic vegetable glycerin, organic jojoba oil, hickory bark extract, organic Calendula oil, eucalyptus oil, filtered water and xantham gum.

20150323_171925I dipped my two fingers together and put approx 1 tablespoon on my face, and then continued to apply a medium size layer. I used it only on my face, although it is able to be used on the neck as well. I was super careful that I did not get any in my eyes during either application or my rinse. I left the mud on for about 9 minutes, although right around the 5 minute mark I began to feel the mud dry and harden on my face. To remove the mud, I decided to combine my shower and facial rinse which provided a nice warm water. For any areas that did not come off during the initial rinse I used my same two fingers and used gentile circles for an overall exfoliation. I have never felt my face so soft as I did after that first facial mud treatment.

20150323_172011Dead Sea Mud comes from the Dead Sea, which is located between Israel and Jordan, is located 1400 feet below sea level and is the lowest point on earth’s surface. This 21 mineral enriched mud that is contained in the sea has been known for centuries for it’s healing properties. Pure & Essential’s mud is certified vegan, not test on animals, is FDA approved and is a 100% natural skin care treatment. It is a simple pure weekly facial treatment.

I find that with each week I use the mud, my face feels younger and that my pores are able to breathe. Despite the upcoming “big one” of my own with my pores able to properly breathe, I am beginning to breathe, despite the unpredictability around us Californians and around us July birthday girls.

Dead Sea Mud Mask by Pure & Essential Minerals is currently available on Amazon.com and sells for $24.77/jar. Each jar lasts for approx. 30 applications – depending on amounts used.
