Sock Club June 2015 The PrinceSock Club – June 2015 – Review

I have mentioned in the past my love for socks and my terrible propensity for wearing holes into them. I am proud to announce that I think the tide is starting to turn on this horrible habit, and my blog might be the reason. I have found that as a review blogger one of the items I receive for review are socks. I recently received a pair of socks from SockClub.com.

Prior to this interaction I had not heard of Sock Club, which actually surprises me for a couple reasons. The first reason is that this company has been in the online world since July of 2012, and I have not seen any ads or not heard any word of mouth about it. The second reason is that this is an American made product – the socks are designed in Austin, Texas and manufactured in North Carolina and usually these are the businesses that get the attention for being “American Made”. The final reason I was surprised is that the creation of the company is cocktail party story worthy. The company was started when 2 friends bet over a corn hole match, began to think about what they could do with a small fortune and decided the answer was socks – Sock Club was born.

Sock Club June 2015 The PrinceI received a pair called “The Prince”. The socks were packaged in a 8×11 cardboard envelope that was branded with the “Sock Club” name, leaving little to no doubt who the package was from. When I opened the envelope inside I discovered a wrapped brown bag type package with a wax seal in the middle designed as a method of closure. Also included was a letter that was made out to me that explained the inspiration for this month’s sock selection.

The Prince sock is a purple and black sock that is decorated with geometric shapes and the sock is solid black on the sole. These purple and black socks include a black 2 inch band on the upper ankle, with a thin purple 1/2 band on the cuff of the sock. The label stated that the sock is 80% cotton, 16% nylon and 4% lycra. This was a comfortable sock that was thin enough to not add any additional bulk to sometimes already tight fit shoes.

As for if the tide is turning on the holey sock situation stay tuned, until then go check out Sock Club, you won’t be disappointed.

Nick’s Stick’s Review

Nick’s Stick’s Review and Giveaway

Nicks Sticks PhotoJason has been patiently wanting meat sticks and cheese for quite sometime and the truth of the matter is that I have never really given meat turned into sticks much thought. I was under the impression that they were a conglomeration of random meat by products and other mystery meats – I could not have been more wrong!

Nicks Stick’s was generous enough to send us one each of 4 flavors to try including; Grass Fed Beef, Spicy Beef, Free-Range Turkey and Spicy Turkey.  This is a simple snack that is as versatile as it is delicious and the beauty in these little sticks is their simplicity. Made of simple ingredients such as meat, water, (jalapeño in the spicy blends), Redmond seasoned salt, lactic acid and celery juice, that’s IT!

ginnybakes Review & Giveaway

ginnybakes 2 introI think I have mentioned in the past that I am a cookie monster. I really do love my cookies and will devour almost any flavor and any variety. When I was young a highlight of the winter season was receiving that magical tin of cookies with crispy sugar on the tops. Looking back I realize that these were simply shortbread cookies and have become available year round. Why am I mentioning this holiday staple? The answer is simpler than you can imagine. It is because I found a cookie that reminded me of this holiday indulgence.

I found ginnybake cookies and I was caught by their commitment to creating a gluten-free safe product. This is made in a dedicated gluten-free facility, and was started by a holistic nutritionist. Ginnybake Cookies are a family owned company whose passion is to create outrageously delicious and nutritious treats.

Bulu Weight Loss Subscription Box Review

Bulu Box Weight Loss Subscription ReviewBulu Box June 2015When I was young I never gained weight. When I say never I really mean never. If I am being honest with you, I actively tried to gain weight and it never happened despite eating entire boxes of crackers before the 12 o’clock in the morning hour. Flash forward to my early 20’s and with adulthood came a drastic change in my metabolism.

This change in my metabolism was as fast and furious as my weight gain. I do not remember actively buying bigger pants or jumping from a size 2 to a size 12. I have been lucky in my weight journey in that I fluctuate between the same 15lbs – you can almost say that me and those pounds are close friends.

I recently became a Bulu Ambassador and received a box for review. I did not really have any expectations for this box, which was probably a really good thing. Most boxes have a postcard type manifest that lists all the items contained in the box and the box I received did not have a manifest card. I noticed that the box had many different samples and I was eager to jump in and discover something new.

Cookie Love Review

Cookie Love by Mindy SegelCookie Love: More Than 60 Recipes and Techniques for Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary Review and Giveaway

I have been a cookie fan since I was a child, in fact I recently admitted to being a cookie monster since I was young. My favorite cookie memory involves my best friends from youth. Each weekend I would play host to slumber parties and 2:00am cookie making messes. Generally speaking we made chocolate chip, oatmeal or peanut butter but sometimes we would venture into the fancier cookie books and attempt a recipe.

Flash forward 25 years later and I still love baking cookies, as well as convincing my friends to come and help me bake them. The major difference is that my cookie making confidence is much higher than at 15 years old. I love cookbooks and recently was given the chance to review Cookie Love: More Than 60 Recipes and Techniques for Turning the Ordinary into the Extraordinary by Mindy Segal.

This collection is over 280 pages of recipes, cookie making basics that cover tools used and common tricks, as well as measurement conversion charts. This book includes some of the best cookie recipes I have ever heard of including snickerdoodles, smoked almond shortbread with orange blossom and raspberry framboise, cheese board biscotti and many others.

If you are a fan of quality cookie themed cookbooks and unique recipes I highly recommend this book full of “Cookie Love”.

Naked Infusions Review

Naked Infusions Salsa Logo

Naked Infusions Review and Giveaway

I am a fan of chips with salsa, unfortunately my stomach feels very different about this. As I have gotten older I am sad to report that my stomach and I do not agree on many food decisions. I love chips and salsa, and I was thrilled when I heard that there was a salsa company doing it different. Despite the battle waged in my stomach when tomatoes are involved, that does not deter me from my quest of salsa discovery.

When I think of salsa I think tomatoes and some spices. I have never really given thought to adding other ingredients to enhance the natural tomato flavors. Lucky for me there is a salsa company that is thinking outside the proverbial box and combining flavors: Naked Infusions Salsa.

All of Naked Infusion’s salsa is certified organic , Non-GMO verified and Gluten-free. The salsa are made with fresh ingredients and are not the ultra chunky salsa, but a nice fine blend that makes chip application easy.

Naked Infusion was generous enough to send me a complete sampling of each flavor they offer including:

Signature Ripe Tomato (hot, medium and mild): 4 oz received – Mild, medium and Extra Hot available – This was fresh tasting and what the other flavors are based on – this is the original recipe.

Naked Infusions SalsaCalifornia Burnt Sage: 4 oz received – Medium Heat – The sage popped first and foremost and it added a fresh quality to an already fresh and clean salsa. The ingredients are as tasty as they are fresh.

Infusion Organique Review

Infusion Organique Review and Giveaway
Infusion Organiques

I love scented candles, but have never been a fan of perfumes. The perfumes that I have come across are strong and when applied heavy can burn noses and make people not want to be near the offending smell. I have always seeked and looked for a perfume that can make me smell more natural and less like I am wearing perfume.

I came across Infusion Organique’s and was intrigued by the scents that they offer and thought that maybe this was the perfume option I had been looking for. They were generous to send me not only a couple of vials of their different scents, but also a roll on perfume and a soy blend candle.

Infusion OrganiquesI was sent 4 different vials of perfume including Buddha’s Fig, Sands of Morocco, Indochine and Acai Rain. The Buddha’s Fig includes fig, rose geranium, lemongrass oil, wood and amber scents. The purple colored Sands of Morocco includes vanilla, sandalwood, warm oak moss, lemongrass and ylang-ylang. The Indochine included kumquat, peach, water lily, jasmine, muguet, vanilla, grapefruit extract, orange and ylang-ylang. The pink colored Acai Rain is made of acai, raspberry, currant, white peach, fresh greens and orange oil.

Nii Bars Review

 Nii Bars Review and Giveaway

Nii Bars - 5 FlavorsThere are many companies that are creating bars and protein snacks. The common thread in these bars is dates. I will be honest when I say that I know little to nothing about dates, other than their appearance. If I am being really honest I will tell you they have never been high on my list to try as they are visually unappetizing. The great thing about these bars and protein snacks is that the visual look of the ingredients is less important, and the sum of the parts becomes the focus.

The way in which I discovered Nii Bars is different than most ways I come across these type of products. One night Jason and I were watching Food Network and came upon a show that showcases up and coming companies seeking an investment to grow their business. I was immediately intrigued by what I saw on the screen and knew that I wanted to sample these for myself. Mom to three children, Shanais Pelka started Nii Bars in her kitchen. Her passion for feeding healthy, vegan, whole, nutrient dense foods to her family grew into an Nii Bars.

Nii Bars are organic, gluten-free, Non-GMO certified, vegan, soy-free and kosher. The ingredients in each bar are cold-pressed and they are sweetened with coconut nectar. They come in 5 flavors including Almond Chocolate Chip, Berry Cashew, Peanut Butter, Cherry Coconut and Cacao Coconut.

taffytownTaffy Town Review and Giveaway

Confession time: When I was young anytime I was offered salt water taffy I declined because i thought that all salt water taffy tasted like salt water (who wants to taste beach water?). Finally one day in my late teens I decided to try it because all my friends loved it, and a love affair with taffy was born.

Taffy TownTaffy Town is a well established company in the taffy world, they have been around for almost 100 years. Taffy Town makes 1.3 million pieces of taffy per day of their almost 100 varieties. The taffy at Taffy Town goes through a 24 hour batch conditioning process before it is made into the flavors that are so recognizable. The taffy pieces contain no peanuts, no tree nuts, are gluten-free and are kosher dairy safe.

Taffy Town was generous enough to send DealsAmongUs a couple of bags to review. We received 3 bags which included Tropical Taffy, Sassy (Sour) Taffy and Melon Mix Taffy.
