Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review and Giveaway – January 2016
It has been about 3 months since Meadow entered our extended family, and things are going great. In the past couple of weeks she has learned how to sit and stay and she knows her name. I think that the best thing that has come out of Meadow’s adoption is that it has made my father a happier person – which is good for everyone.
I started to think about the reasons and ways that dogs can add a positive influence in our life. The reasons are simple, but the science behind them are more complicated. The experts will say that animals bring calm, and from that calm can be lower blood pressure and an overall sense of peace. I know for our family now that Meadow is around there is a lot less aggressive speaking and less agressivee attitudes since we don’t want to scare the puppy. I think that it more that we impart human emotions on our animals and feel they feel the same as us.
Meadow was 9 weeks old on her arrival into my father’s life, and I can say that almost 12 weeks later, they are the best of friends. Since she is still a puppy, there is a lot of trial and error in her preferences towards toy and treats. In this situation the best thing is to purchase a monthly gift box, so that an assortment of toys and treats are received. A box making a big splash in the pet gift box market is Pet Treater. It is obvious when you receive a Pet Treater box that they are distinguishing themselves in the pet box field.
This is my third Pet Treater review, and as the previous boxes I reviewed the medium dog box. I received a very thoughtfully curated football themed box that was “pawsome” with a cute theme of “Fun & Football Fit”. With the cute theme, is also a request to pledge to play more in 2016!
Here is a breakdown of the items that were in my/Meadow’s January Pet Treater box:
Multipet International Football: This was an instant hit and Meadow was so excited by it she ran away with it. This is just like a football that you would throw to your human best friend, despite the fact that it is soft and plushie. Meadow claimed this toy as her own, and there was no turning back, a hit to say the least.
Pet Chef – No Guilt Treats: These are all-natural raw treats that are gluten-free, grain free, use fresh ingredients and are locally grown and all natural. The box had two bags included, which gave one for Meadow and one to share with her many puppy pals. These freeze-dried treats are a combination of ground chicken, cucumber, radish and kale. My father is holding off giving Meadow certain treats until she gets older and her tummy develops a bit more so these will be held for a couple more months.
Orange Plushie: Meadow loved this and if I had to guess I think the most of everything. I took this toy out first to use as a distraction from her getting to the rest of the box and it worked – she was adequately distracted. She must have done 3 dozen laps in the backyard until she finally landed in the above position – plushie in mouth.
NylaBone Fun and Fit – Vanilla Infused: This is perfect way to work on Meadows ability to break into items for treats. I threw this to our active 5 month old a couple of times, and she caught it each time. I have learned that despite the nubs and slots to get treats, Meadow figures it out. I love that as she caught this she was cleaning and massaging her gums and teeth. Since she is still cutting her adult teeth, I imagine this is a nice relief for her otherwise sore gums.
Exclusively Dog – Jerkeez: These Pizza Recipe flavored treats are chewy and we may have found the perfect use for them – due to their chewy nature we were perfect to put in our hand and let her chew from while we brushed her. She loved the distraction and we loved the well-behaved puppy.
Unique Petz Treat Launcher: I wish I could say that this I was able to confiscate this toy for the cats, as it would be a beyond perfect cat treat dispenser. Sadly this was not the case, as my father being an older man wants a lazy way to play with Meadow. I decided to let my father have this toy since sometimes Meadow’s energy is above what his is. In the place of the treats, he plans to divided up some milk bone treats, so she gets one treat that was made into many.
Also included for the human was a “On-The-Go” salad cup, dressing cup and a plastic fork. What I loved about this is that Jason and I were just talking about including salads into his daily lunch routine. Since this has been added to our plastic collection I will be adding salads to the lunches. I did not get a picture of this, but you can see it in the top photo on the lower left side. As the picture below shows, Meadow thinks this is a great idea and gave me many smiles of approval.
Pet Treater is a monthly subscription box service that has your dog in mind. Basically each month they treat your best friend with quality times that you and your dog will love. The boxes generally include a treat’s, interactive toy’s as well as surprise for the human! The most exciting part is that each box is different depending on the breed and size of your dog – and while there is a difference you can expect to receive a box comparable to the one I am showing you here.
I love receiving this box, and seeing my k-9 sister discover and play with the toys – there is something special and magical seeing an animal discover their new favorite toy.
Run and fetch this box – you and your dog will love it!!

I found my Luci dog through an email that came through my work email that a co-worker had a friend who had found a puppy walking along a country road and picked it up but couldn’t keep the dog as they already had one dog. They posted a picture of the dog, Luci, in the email and when I opened it I knew I had to go get her. About 8 years later she is no longer a puppy but a faithful friend who has moved with me to 8 different homes in her short life and I’m so grateful I was blessed with such a true gift.
Love your story!!!
Rox came into our lives 11 years ago.
We have 4 doggies, all rescues
Adopted in ’07, ’08, ’12, ’15 –
The 1st two we met in the shelter, the 3rd saw from the local pound on Facebook, they last was a giveaway-before-being-turned-into-the-shelter from a co-workers family member…We actually just signed up for this subscription box a few days ago and a free month would be amazing!
Thanks!!
A friend of a friend had puppies she was giving away.
We found him when we up at our camper and he’s been one of the best dogs I have ever had.
We purchased our miniature schnauzer from a champion breeder. We rescued our dorky from a puppy mill.
I met my companion, Waffles, at the local animal shelter. I was her 4th home in 5 years.
How sad, but wonderful you adopted her!
My Maggee had a reputation that preceded her and she went through a shuttling. She is the sweetest kitten ever and I can not imagine not having her!
I love the name Waffles!
I currently have four rescued Treeing Walker Coonhounds (three rescued cats, too). Three of the four were posted on Facebook and on the kill lists at high-kill shelters in NC and SC. My senior girl, Suki, I adopted 13-1/2 years ago when the rescue she was with was at a local PetSmart adoption event. I had my Beagle, Bailey, at that time and had lost my Beagle/Lab mix, Muffie, about two months before (she was just short of her 16th birthday). I was out shopping with a friend and we stopped at PetSmart to get dog food for our dogs. I turned the corner to the isle the rescue had the dogs down and there was Suki – on a leash with a volunteer in the middle of the isle. It was love at first sight. I had NO idea what a Treeing Walker Coonhound was, and she looked like a gigantic Beagle (as one of my daughters used to call her, a Beagle on steroids). I talked with the volunteer and ended up sitting on the floor with Suki in my lap. She was 1-1/2 years old and had been adopted – and returned – twice. It wasn’t that she was a bad dog, but that she just wasn’t the right fit for the families who adopted her. She was the perfect fit for us, although it took some time for her to trust us since being adopted and returned twice gave her a serious abandonment issues. She’ll be with me until she goes to the Rainbow Bridge (and that likely won’t be too much longer – a year or two at most, but possibly less). I’d have 20 of these dogs if I could.
My dog’s mother was a rescue who was pregnant with puppies. We’ve had my dog since she was small.
someone had him for free in the newspaper and we went and got him

I got Petals from DFW Pug Rescue. She is the sweetest and the most beautiful pug in the world.
We adopted Baxter three years ago per a newspaper ad for mixed puppies for $40 We got to meet his parents and siblings! They were kept outside in a dog box and it was so cold that day! I am proud to say he is healthy, happy, and an indoor pet! He sleeps with my husband and I and is protective of us and the kids. He is truly a blessing!
We got our pug from my sister-in-law whose pugs had puppies & we took the last one she couldn’t get rid of, & we got the best one ever!!!
I had lost a cat that I had had for most of my life several months before. I just couldn’t recover from his death and was just sad constantly. I knew I was going to need another pet to help with my grief. One day my parents told me they had read an article on how having a companion dog was helpful for chronic pain (which I suffer from,) so I started to look for a dog that would be a suitable companion for me. I looked and looked and had almost given up when I saw a picture of this adorable ball of fluff online. She was nine hours away from me, but I just knew she was meant for me. I drove that weekend to get her, and when I saw her, she looked nothing like her picture. She was thin, tiny, and terrified. She had lost her fluffy puppy coat. She looked dirty and was shaking like a leaf. I fell in love immediately. She still has anxiety issues, but we work on it together. She has grown into an absolutely adorable, loving, sweet cuddlebug papillon. When I got married, she took moving like a champ, and now she and her corgi brother are inseparable. I am so happy to have my dogs!
Found her…or should I say she found me at the shelter.
My sister was given her fur baby as a rescue. She had a dog she bought but it died. She decided to do the whole rescue thing for the rest of her babies!
I have two pups who love all kinds of new treats and toys.. just lost my senior guy, he was two months shy of 18:( I also pet sit, so I am always going through toys as they get played with constantly!
We found her at the shelter.
We adopted our labrador retriever from our local shelter. She was severely underweight, has just had puppies, and had kennel cough and heartworms. Thankfully she recovered fully and has been doing well. 🙂
we found him at the animal shelter
Our schipperke passed away in October 2015 at 13 years old and we were devastated! I didn’t think I could ever have another dog, but my two little chihuahuas came into our lives and I fell in love. They are not a replacement for our boy, no dog could replace him, but we had a whole in our hearts that needed to be filled.
at the park
We adopted both our small dogs from shelters. We adopted our younger dog as a puppy, right after our previous dog passed. She had been dropped off at 3 months old and helped us move forward. Our older dog was a rescue that we adopted a few years later. He was in bad shape and we’ve since been helping him get back to good health. They both bring so much joy into our lives <3
We got our doggy after a friend had a mutt dog that bred with a purebred golden retriever. They were giving the puppies away. She has turned out to be the sweetest, smartest, most loyal dog I have ever met!
We got our dog from a neighbor who had to move into an apartment that didn’t allow pets.
We found Artie on Petfinder and contacted the rescue group that saved him from the pound. We are so blessed to have adopted him.
Our LaMancha came to us when he was 6 months old, we inherited him from my Father in Law so it wasn’t the happiest of occasions but he has been a big joy in our life for the last 6 years.
My good friend had an English bulldog and knew we wanted one. She contacted the family of her bully and we were able to meet and pick out our Tyson.
We got her from a group that saves dog from “doggie death row”.
I met my pup through a friend of a friend who wasn’t able to keep him.
