American Gluten-Free Foodie Box – August 2016 Review
Support comes in many forms and many different ways. One of the most important keys in small businesses is the concept of support.
I think one of the biggest supporters of small businesses are the monthly gift box companies. Each month a small business that may otherwise not get the widespread eyes that a monthly subscription box can provide.
Each month American Gluten-Free chooses small and not so small business and not only includes them in their boxes, but also features them on their website and social media. This gives subscribers a nice insight into a company that otherwise may not be featured. The small businesses of the world make the world of commerce go around. Each month American Gluten-Free sends subscribers 7 to 9 items, mostly full size products to sample.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of American Gluten-Free. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
Since I am always interested in seeing the offerings in monthly subscription boxes, I was looking forward to reviewing American Gluten-Free’s Foodie Box. The following is what i received in the August 2016 “Oriental Nights” Foodie Box:
Aleia’s Panko Crumbs and Aleia’s Almond Horns: Until recently I had not even considered using panko crumbs in my cooking, and was deterred by their seeming bland taste. Once I realized that the bland taste was a base and these crumbs can become whatever I wanted them to be, and once fried they add a crunch. The Almond Horns are yummy little almond cookies that have a crunchy outside and sift interior. These are so good it is hard to believe they are gluten-free.
San-T- Teriyaki Sauce: One of my favorite things to make lately are stir-fries with sauces. I have found that it is an easy combination of rice, protein and sauce. I have not used this yet, but have tried other San-T sauces and they were good so I imagine this will be as well.
Explore Asian – Pad Thai Noodles: The first thing I noticed about these is that are packaged perfectly in 1 ounce serving size nests and are certified gluten-free, certified kosher, certified vegan while also being cholesterol free, sodium free and low-fat. This is a 100 percent organic jasmine brown rice and water combination and will make an awesome addition for stir fry with the sauce.
Passage Foods – Thai Basil & Sweet Chili Stir Fry Sauce: I love sauces in a bag due to the compact and easy storage. This is a Chili Stir Fry Sauce that is certified Gluten-Free, Non-GMO, and contains all natural ingredients and is ready in 20 minutes. I like easy meals and this will simplify an upcoming meal.
Kameda – Sweet Chili Rice Crisps: The best way to think of these as these are the typical little crescent crisps that are common in Asian cooking just a spicier version.
Gluten Free Things Bakery – Brownie: I love brownies, and these were also good. I love that more and more gluten-free things are starting to taste like they are filled with gluten.
Sriracha Key Chain and Assorted Inserts: I am relatively new to the Sriracha flavoring game but from what I can tell it adds a nice pop of flavor to just about any food. This arrived empty which provides for adding your own sauce, or just leaving it empty on your key chain. Also included was misc coupons and announcement flyers.
I love this box with the Asian theme – this was a great way to discover gluten-free items that I may not have known existed otherwise. If you are looking for a high quality box that does not disappoint I recommend American Gluten Free!
