When I was younger (much younger) and in grade school, I loved when the time came to celebrate Valentine’s Day. Overall, I remember this as a time to have cupcakes in class, and most of all, trade envelopes and treats with my fellow classmates.

The Valentine’s given usually reflected the personality and always gender appropriate of the giver. Many students also gave an additional treat with their card ranging from chocolate to conversation hearts. Rarely were the treats healthy and were always full of sugar, many times cavities could be seen month later.

Many things have changed since those carefree candy filled days and parents and teachers are looking for healthy alternatives to share with classrooms such as Crispy Green’s Crispy Fruit.

When I attended the Natural Expo West Show in Anaheim last year, I came upon True Jerky (previously known as True Gentleman’s Jerky). The thing that got my attention were the unique flavors and with the new release of their three turkey jerky flavors, my attention has been gotten again.

Pipcorn – Truffle and Sea Salt Review + Giveaway

Each week, on Friday nights, we watch Shark Tank. There are days that we look at each other and wonder who would purchase the product that they are introducing the audience too. Other days we wonder how the world has survived without the product in their lives.

One of these products that we wondered about was a hulless popcorn that we saw on the show called Pipcorn by Pipsnacks. What got our attention the most was that this mini popcorn had made Oprah’s Favorite Things list twice and touted as easier to digest, is kinder to teeth and seeing overall reaction when eaten.

One thing that I enjoy about reviewing items is to look at the packaging and using that to decipher what they are trying to convey to me and if I can guess the overall message.

I am not the only person who does this and, in fact, has been an aspect of advertising since the beginning of advertising. As time marches on and people are much more skeptical of a brands message and intentions, the art of packaging will be more important.

The simplicity of packaging can be simple colors and images, to convey the message needed. Recently I had the opportunity to review an organic mix and frosting combination from Miss Jones Baking Co. What immediately got my attention was the simplicity and color of the packaging, while remaining a standout among other baking products.
