The Spice Lab: Herb Blend and Infused Tea Review and Giveaway
A shift occurred when I was in my early 20’s that I stopped drinking soda and transitioned to tea. In the beginning I would stick with a standard plain tea that had little tea after taste, but tasted of tea. As I got more comfortable with the overall flavor of tea and learned my preferences (unsweetened no sugar please), I learned the wonder of flavored and infused teas.
Since then I have almost exclusively drank tea at restaurants, and prefer that over most either beverages. I enjoy the unsweetened infused teas and I tend to ice the tea, chill and enjoy it that way.
As we trek into summer and the warmer months, the weather is perfect to brew a tea outside, and then pour it over a large glass of ice. Since I am a tea fan, I love to try new teas and recently a woman owned company called The Spice Lab released a line of Infused Tea as well as some Olive Oil Herb Blends.
I had the opportunity to review The Spice Lab’s Salt back in July of 2015, so I was eager to try the new Herb Blend and Infused Teas.
As I opened the package that was sent to me the first item I discovered was an Olive Oil Herb Blend. I received the Rosemary Garlic Blend in a refillable built-in grinder and it was so good added to the olive oil. When I read the ingredients I know I would enjoy the flavor since Rosemary and Garlic are the two main ingredients with hints of onion, red bell peppers and lemon peels included. A nice paprika and sea salt finish off this blend.
I was very pleased with this blend and when I looked I discovered they have other blends including Sicilian Blend, Spicy Italian Roasted Garlic, Spicy Italian Sun Dried Tomato and Mediterranean Citrus Herb Blend and French Onion Garlic Blend. I plan to purchase a couple of these for my father for his upcoming birthday, as these would great additions for bread and oil/vinegar appetizers.
The second items I received were two jars of their new Spring and Summer Teas. Since I love to make brewed tea and making ice tea I was thrilled to received these leaves to brew. The first flavor received was Georgia Peach Infused Black Tea which is a nice mix of Black Tea, Marigold Flowers, Peach Pieces and Natural Flavors. The result is a tea that has a nice peach flavor while not overpowering – a nice tea for a hot afternoon, or a cold winter day.
The second flavor was Orange Vanilla Infused Black Tea, which since it included vanilla it was a safe bet I would enjoy this since I am a fan of vanilla. This tea is a nice combination of Black Tea, Orange Peel, Vanilla Pieces and Natural Flavors. I loved this tea and I will be making more if it as we progress into summer.
Each 2.5 ounce resealable jar comes with a wooden spoon that measures out a small amount of tea. If you flip the jar over you will find simple instructions to make your tea. When I made the hot tea I seeped my tea for just under 5 minutes and that seemed to product a nice brewed tea. In addition to the flavors I received the other flavors available are Acai Berry Infused Black Tea, Pina Colada Infused Tea, Raspberry Cream Infused Black Tea, and Cherry Blossom Infused Black Tea
This woman-owned family run business has been going since 2009 and continues to grow! I can tell you that since my previous review they have added products and expanded salt offerings. If they have done that much in 6 moths imagine a year from now.
