Simply Earth: Essential Oil Recipe Box – Fun in the Sun – June 2017 – Review + Giveaway

As we embark on summer, we also embark on heat, sunburns and long beach days. There are many remedies, both natural and chemically made, that can relieve symptoms of over sunning. The biggest issue for our home during the summer is bugs – the gnats and mosquitoes are unbearable during this time of year.
Since I live in San Diego, the beach is close and always warm, which makes this the ideal time of year. During this time of warmth and sun, over the counter remedies can have unwanted side effects so essential oils are a nice alternative. A couple of months ago I reviewed Simply Earth and their monthly subscription box, so when I had the opportunity to review another box I was again eager to try out some essential oil summer remedies that plaque our home and selves each year.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Simply Earth. This post may have affiliate links but this in no way will influence the review to follow and all opinions are my own.
Simply Earth was generous and sent on of their monthly subscription essential oil box for review. I received the March 2017 Simply Earth Essential Oil Subscription Box which was focused on sun and bugs and contains the following items:

There were 6 different recipes in this months box. Each of these cards revolve around the overall “Fun in the Sun” theme, and each month includes recipes that provide essential oil based solutions for the issues of that month such as bugs and sun burns. Also included are small circle stickers that coordinate to the cards and make labeling your combinations easier.

There were 4 pure essential oil bottles at 15ml each of Tangerine, Spearmint, Lavender and Lemon Eucalyptus.

Also included was a 4 oz bottle of Coconut Oil and a package of White Beeswax that is easily meltable and meant to be used to make some lip balm.

The containers need to make the suggested recipe’s which included a 2 spray bottles, 1 – 10 ml Roll on bottle, a 5 ml bottle for essential oil combinations and 4 empty lip balm tubes.

Each month there are note cards that include ideas for uses for the included essential oils. These can range from a simple idea, such as making a blend to be used in a diffuser. The use of a diffuser helps to administer the benefits of essential oils. Other options include mixing a couple of oils together to make a relief formula. Also, included each month are online videos to help you create the recipes.
With this months theme of “Fun in the Sun” each of the recipes are reliefs or blends to assist with bug bites, sunburns, after sun and cooling down after a long hot day. Each recipe is different and can be a lip balm, roll on or spray. The best thing is that each of the recipes can be used in any of the implements such as the spray bottle or roll on.

Simply Earth was founded by two brothers and their wives with the simple mission to make it easy and affordable to have natural options in your home.
Also, with each item purchased 13% of the profits go towards the fight to help end human trafficking.
As I learn more and more about essential oils, I really appreciated having a monthly box with instructions and the oils needed to make remedies that are usable. Each of the recipes are simple mixes, and can replace some of the over the counter health remedies that do the same thing these mixes do.
I have mentioned in a previous monthly box review that I think that anyone new or experienced with the Essential Oil’s would benefit greatly from this box. This is a great way to use these versatile and safe oils.
Go ahead and jump in – the options are really endless as well as being endlessly helpful for you and your home!

I don’t make my own blends but would love to. My favorite scent is lavender.
I have 4 essential oils, but I haven’t blended them together. I have lavender, peppermint, orange. and lemon. I just got the last two the other day. I know I can blend those two, but haven’t and I’m not sure that I will since they’re similar. I’ll have to do some research on mixing what I have. I love this subscription box – it would be pretty helpful for a novice like myself.
I don’t make mine yet. I am just getting into it now with my daughter in law.
I do not make my own essential oil blends. Wild Orange is one of my favorite essential oils. You can clean with it or diffuse it to cheer up your day. It is like a drop of sunshine
