Pet Treater Monthly Subscription Box Review – May 2016
Each month I make the 15 minute trek over to my father’s house with the intention to visit Meadow, and present her with her monthly treats. When I arrived this month, I failed to give my father a proper “heads-up” and when I arrived dog and guardian were nowhere to be found. Lucky for Meadow, the neighborhood in which she lives has numerous parks and places to play. It did not take me long to discover the whereabouts of k-9 and human.
Once I discovered my father, it turned out that she had a playdate with her best friend Noodles. It so happens that Noodles is a Golden Laberdoodle that is the same age as Meadow, as well as being a couple of homes away.
Since this month’s Pet Treater theme was “Doggie de Mayo” it seemed appropriate that I would find Meadow socializing, instead of her usual sleeping spot. I have mentioned before that I love this time of the month is when I receive the box because it gives me a chance see Meadow’s progress and growth. As I spend more time away from her the more advanced she seems when I do see her again, which is always a treat.
I can honestly say that each Pet Treater box is as good, and even better than the one before and this months box is NO exception. Since Meadow is still growing into the dog she is destined to become, for now I am reviewing the medium dog box. Like I mentioned above the May box was a thoughtfully curated luck themed box that maintained the theme of “Doggie de Mayo”.
Here is a breakdown of the items that were in my/Meadow’s May Pet Treater box:
LM Farms – Curry Brush: Since Meadow is 90% fluff it takes a thick brush to get to her fur. The positive is that it is PERFECT for Meadow’s feline cousins. I tried to use this on Meadow and there was little to no difference in her fur but when I tried this out with Maggee and Murfee, they LOVED it. The “teeth” are made of silicone material and gives the feeling of a massage taking place (or I would imagine). While the canine was ambivalent about the brush the felines loved it.
Pet Chef – No Guilt Treats – Fido Fiesta: These are all-natural raw treats that are gluten-free, grain free, use fresh ingredients and are locally grown and all natural. There are 3 colors of treats in these and each color is a different food combination. The Red are a combination of ground chicken, beets and apples. The white are made of chicken, turnip and bananas and the green are ground chicken, spinach and peas. These are freeze-dried treats that are simple ingredients that even a human would eat.
Meadow and her Let’s Fiesta Then Siesta: Again I am confident that Meadow knows the human response when she is pretty and responds appropriately. This was a cute bandana and give Meadow one more thing to wear to parties.
Aspen Pet – Fresh and Floss: If I have ever seen a dog take ownership of a toy this was it. From the moment I opened the box, Meadow honed in on this toy. While I was visiting her she was playing with this toy, and when I left the above photos tell the story. I got a text that said “I think she likes the toy” with the above photos included – I think that sums it up well.
MultiPet – Bozo the Clown: Alright, full disclosure here, Meadow never saw Bozo. I love retro items, and Bozo is a wonderful retro symbol, so instead of being chewed and mauled by a dog, Bozo will sit on my desk as a reminder of a simpler time. Despite the fact that this will not end up dog chew, this would be a good toy as it is a good size to toss and has a squeaky inside it.
Exclusively Dog Jerkeez – Taco Flavor: I took this photo as I think it is a great reminder that no matter the treat it is important for humans to be aware of what they are feeding their friends. As luck would have it, these are treats that include natural ingredients and are safe for Meadow’s somewhat sensitive stomach.
Pawsitivly Gourmet – Taco: This is so cute and very appropriate for the theme of this months box. This is a gourmet hand decorated dog treat that would be inhaled with little chewing, I imagine. I loved the detail and color in the treat, I wish the pups could appreciate it as much.
Treats for Human and Dog: Each month Pet Treater includes a present for the guardian of the animal. This month was a Silicone Potholder by Ganz, which is very helpful since we are starting to eat at home more often. This is in the shape of an alligator which I thought was cute. I actually have him out for use, but watching over the sink area as well.
