Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome – May 2016 Review
Each year before school started I would get a set amount to spend on clothes. It was my responsibility to spend wisely. I was never a teenager who spent a ton of money on designer clothes, or accessories. I have always looked for comfort and an affordable price. Even now when I do any type of shopping I look for the best deals and steals.
Clearance racks are my favorite places in the store and I love to visit discount store. The more I can get with a fixed amount of money the happier I leave a store or website.
It is in this money-saving and deal holding spirit that I was introduced to the Monthly Mystery Box of Awesome by That Daily Deal.com. Each month no theme is chosen, but rather a selection of random gender neutral items.
Here is a breakdown of the items that were in May’s Box of Awesome:
Yard Play 3 Piece BBQ Grill Set and Grill Light: I know I sound redundant when I speak of timing but really the way timing works is amazing sometimes. Jason and I have been talking more about BBQ’ing and since it has been a year or two were in need of new utensils – problem solved! Also, I love having a LED light to shine on my BBQ since it is a little on the dark side where our BBQ is and clamps on really easy. I can not wait to use these stainless steel tongs, forks and spatula.
Cowhide Print Throw Pillow and Blanket: This blanket is so soft! I have never had a cowhide patterned item in my home, so this is a first. I actually was surprised how much I liked this blanket and pillow combination. This pillow is the perfect size for our couch and the blanket is the perfect size to wrap up and read with. This is a 100% polyester and one side is cowhide and a solid brown on the other side.
IronMan 3 Foil Wall Decals: These are foil wall decals that can be used together or throughout a play room. Since we do not have a young child around, these will not be used (but I will be doing a giveaway soon for them!). There are 6 images per sheet, being 4 sheets per package for a total of 24 decals.
Typhoon Glass Work Top Protector: I have to be honest when I say that I did not know that these glass protectors were still made. I remember these in the 1990’s in kitchens and in stores. I worked at my local Hallmark and I remember a couple of shelves devoted to these. This is made from scratch resistant glass, and has non-slip silicone feet on the bottom to reduce slipping.
Roobee by Mara Mi Beverage 40ct Napkins: I love getting napkins, but not for use at my dinner parties or gatherings. I use them for decoupage craft projects and recovering otherwise unattractive items. I used to go to the thrift store and look for items to recover and then over time ran out of napkins to use, so I am thrilled I am rebuilding that supply.
Cobble Creek Non-Soggy Cereal Bowl: This has to be one of the cooler and most useful items in this box. Jason is a huge milk and cereal guy so I know this will be used at least 3 times a week. This bowl has an indentation on the side for easy holding, and a shallow side for cereal and the deeper reservoir to hold milk.
Each month random box receivers will received a high ticket item included in their box. The examples of past items received are an inflatable hot tub, 70″ curved television, a years worth of bacon, a 3D printer, and this month 5 lucky box recipients received a Roomba!
Next month select people will receive a Amazon Echo (an $179.00 value)!
As regular readers will know I see a lot of boxes and this is by far the most random, and most unique ones I have received. I loved the variety and the wide range of products included in one box, and I can not tell you how much I am looking forward to the June box! When they named this a Mystery Box of Awesome they are not exaggerating – it is awesome!
