The Hippie Hobby Box: DIY Herbal Bath Teas Review and Giveaway
I often comment that the one thing my house I miss is a bathtub. I miss the ability to grab a good book and a candle and zone out for an hour. The one thing I am able to do is take showers. I have a smaller bathroom that gets all steamed up (hear me shout!) so it lends itself VERY well to any type of aromatherapy treatments. I have recently discovered the relaxation that the different scents can provide.
One of my favorite things is to fuse something I want with my love of DIY, which I am able to do each month with The Hippie Hobby Box. Each month the spirit of DIY and up-cycling are fused into one monthly do-it-youself project. I have to say this is a crafters fun!
What is The Hippie Hobby Box exactly? The Hippie Hobby box is a every other month Do It Yourself kit with a hippie twist. Each box features up-cycled, recycled or natural product that includes almost everything needed to complete the project (standard items like scissors and pen/pencils are not included).
Included in the DIY Herbal Bath Teas were (6) Heat to Seal Tea Bags, 3 Tbsp Epsom Salt, 3/4 Cup of Rolled Oats, 2 Tbsp Lavender Flowers, 2 Tbsp Chamomile Flowers, Lavender Essential Oil and Mini Sewing Kit.
Also included to complete the optional Bath Tea Envelopes were the pre-printed Envelope Templates, Glue Stick and Scissors.
The basic idea of this kit is to combine the ingredients and create a bath tea. Each box contains enough ingredients to make 6 bags of Herbal Bath Tea. Each of the ingredients were pre-measured in packets – this made the combining of ingredients super easy and no second guessing.
Once the ingredients are mixed together it is recommended to fill the bags up halfway. I found that it took about 2 Tablespoons of mix to accomplish this. Once each bag was filled I was left with little to no mix remaining, which made me happy – no waste!
Once the contents are in the package, it is recommended to use your iron on the “wool” cycle to seal these shut. You definetly want to close these as otherwise you will end up with the contents all over your bath! It was easy to seal these shut and it took less that 30 seconds.
When I was done ironing/sealing the tea bags I began to make the envelopes. The patterns was pre-printed on the back of the paper which made cutting VERY simple. After the appropriate cuts were made then it was a matter of folding and gluing in the proper spots. This was a simple process and I was about to complete all 6 envelopes in a matter of minutes.
I loved this months project and it honestly opened my mind to the DIY Herbal Tea Bag craft. I plan to expand upon this and give these to my family as gift toppers! These are easy, effective and really homemade and unique. The added essential oil makes this smell so good and was really relaxing!
As it turns out, this was another simple, and unique project. If you are looking for fun DIY project, delivered to your door I would HIGHLY recommend you ordering a Hippie Hobby Box.
