Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit Review
I have a confession: I am a hoarder of ribbon. I have a huge box in my house that contains my ribbon collection. Many times in my crafting days I have thought it would be personal and unique to add writing to my ribbon. The only problem is that there was no way to do this in a clean, professional yet still crafty way. I am happy to say that it is not long the case.
I would like you all to meet the newest item to my ever-growing craft collection: the Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit.
Let me introduce you to this 1 pound wonder. The Epson LabelWorks Printable Ribbon Kit comes neatly stored and packaged in a carrying case. The case includes the LW-300 Epson LabelWorks Printer, 2 – 1/2″ wide printable ribbon cartridge in beige and navy as well as a user guide. This is a LabelWorks printer, meaning that as long as you have a LabelWorks cartridge that is compatible with the LW-300 the options become endless. The compatible cartridges range from sticky labels, glow-in-the-dark tape and iron on labels.
The LW-300 Ribbon Printer comes with over 300 symbols and over 75 frames, as well as 14 font types. The fonts come in 5 sizes and 2 widths and include Sans Serif, Sans Serif HG, Sans Serif ST, Gothic, Bold Gothic, Roman, US Roman, CL Roman, Mincho, Gyosho, Reisho, BR, CB, Script PL. The printer’s built-in memory is able to store up to 30 label design files for easy reference and accessibility for future use.
The ribbon is available in 3 different widths which include 1/4″, 3/8″ and 1/2″. The ribbon is available in many color and size variations depending on your needs. The printer is able to print up to 2 lines of text on each ribbon and can be printed with symbols included. The symbols include prohibition, household, food, sports, activity, occasion, shipping, electrical, animals, zodiac, emoticons, measurements, metric, abbreviations, punctuation, parenthesis, math currency, double figure, greek, office, safety and facility symbols. Also included are 7 different languages that include English, Spanish, French, Brazilian Portuguese, European Portuguese, Italian, Dutch and German.
The printer is easy to use, all I had to do install the ribbon cartridge, then I typed my personalized message – “I LOVE YOU” was the message of choice. I simply pressed the icon keys to select other optional choices like symbols, fonts or frames – I chose a dinosaur chasing a fish. Then I pressed the print button, if needed you can press the print button numerous times until your printed ribbon is the desired length. Once it printed I then clicked the cut button. The result was a cute, functional, cleanly printed ribbon.
The options are endless with this printer – you can make wedding/party favor ribbons, make hair bows for your little ice skaters, you can personalize the ribbon on a first year ornament or simply personalize cards and gifts. I would recommend this printer to just about anyone from a craft, teachers, parents and everyone in between. I love this printer and plan to purchase more cartridges for even more use.
The Ribbon Printer can be purchased separately ($39.99) or in a kit with 2 printable ribbon cartridges for $69.99. Ribbon cartridges are available in a variety of colors and ink combinations and are available for approx. $20.00 each and include 16 feet of ribbon per cartridge. The printer does NOT come with an AC adapter and needs to be purchased separately if wanted – it does run on 6AAA batteries.
