Dave’s Naturals: Overnight Oats Review + Giveaway

If there is one time of day that I do not like it is the mornings. Most of my mornings consist of making my husband lunch and getting him off to work, cleaning the litter box from the night, feeding our cats, and getting myself ready for my day blogging. Time goes quick, and despite the time I wake-up, I am always in a hurry to do what needs to be done before my morning slips away.
If there is one thing that I often forget to do is to eat breakfast. I am always looking for an easier way to give me the start to my day that I desperately need that will save me time.
When I was approached with the opportunity to give a new breakfast offering from Dave’s Naturals I decided to go for it. When I head that I was the 5th package shipped and one of few people outside the company I was immediately intrigued. The new product is Overnight Oats and the basic idea is that you add the milk to cup the night before, store in the fridge, and in the morning you will have a softened oats to eat.
The products featured in this post were provided to me free of charge courtesy of Dave’s Naturals.
I received a cup of each of Dave’s Naturals Overnight Oats flavors. Each one contains organic whole grain oats, organic cane sugar, chia seeds, oat bran and natural flavors in addition to the following in each flavor –

Blueberry Almond Vanilla Overnight Oats – This is a simple combination of blueberries, almonds, and Sea Salt. The blueberries were throughout the oats and were of a nice sweetness without being overpowering.

Cinnamon Raisin Overnight Oats – As the ingredients imply, this has raisins, cinnamon and sea salt. The raisins were plentiful and tasty a nice treat in the bites.

Apple Nut Overnight Oats – A combination of sweet apples, cinnamon, almonds and Sea Salt round out this cup. The apples throughout the oats were not overly sweet, but good throughout.

Mixed Berry Overnight Oats – This is loaded with fruit including blackberries, raspberries, strawberries and almonds. My first impression of this cup was that I was surprised how many fruits were included, each bite it seemed like I had a fruit or two.
While this can be set in the fridge overnight, if you happen to forget, you have the option to add your milk, and then pop them in the microwave for 2 minutes. I tried the Blueberry Almond as an overnight oat, and then the Apple Nut as an “immediate” oat and both were good. I would recommend to let them sit overnight as this is their true purpose, but both ways were good.

Each of these cups have 8 to 9 grams of protein (depending on flavor) and 6 Grams of Fiber and are made in the USA. These have a different texture than cooked oats and so they are soft and creamy. The flavors of the oats, dried fruit, and cinnamon mix and mingle overnight and make them really flavorful. These are certified gluten-free and will be made in the USA.
These are not yet available in stores, and with the Overnight Oats on Kickstarter they are looking for the funding to make these in large batch quantities on the production line and bring costs down.
I am eager for these to be available to the masses, and I think that they are an easy way to get your breakfast and nutrients ready for you in the morning. I think that everyone will love these, including you – give them a try!
