Creative Painting & Beyond Review and Giveaway
Creativity is something that I have discovered more as I have gotten older. I always leaned towards the creative in that I love to color as a kid, and I always wanted a full color pen set. As I got older I began to scrapbook, and I was able to use the stickers and papers that I had been collecting in the years prior.
I am always looking for new was to use my craft items to create new pieces of art. When I received for review and giveaway a copy of Creative Painting & Beyond: Inspiring Tips, Techniques and Ideas for Creating Whimsical Art in Acrylic, Watercolor, Gold Leaf, and More by Alix Adams and Chelsea Foy I knew that I would be able to spread my creative wings.

Creative Painting & Beyond: Inspiring Tips, Techniques and Ideas for Creating Whimsical Art in Acrylic, Watercolor, Gold Leaf, and More by Alix Adams and Chelsea Foy is a 144 page book with over 35 projects. Each projects comes with full color step by step instructions, and a full color photos to help guide in the creation of the project.
This books has projects from three artists with each being one being a distinctly different set of projects. The first artist – Chelsea Foy’s projects are simple projects the range from a wall hanging to a gold-leaf clock. The second artist – Gabri Joy Kirkendall’s projects are more on the water coloring side, showcasing ways to use watercolor on a variety of projects. The third artist – Alix Adams projects range from a painted pillow, painted cutting board and Painted Burlap Place Mats.
My favorite project in this book was by the first artist, Chelsea Foy, the Painted Sweater. I often see solid color shirts on clearance at my local mass retail store, and always wonder if I could add some flair to them. There was a simplicity and an ease, that makes me want to redo all my solid color shirts with a template, freezer paper and fabric paint. The basic idea is that you cut your template out of freezer paper and with a high heat iron, temporarily adhere to the fabric. Once the template is in place, apply the paint and let it dry. Once dried what results is a unique one of a kind apparel.
