Paper Pumpkin – June 2016 Review and Giveaway
Since I am a summer baby I have always viewed the summer as an exciting time. The summer months use to mean vacation, lazy days and my birthday. I am not going to lie, my favorite part of my birthday is the cards and the decorations. Ever since I was young I have loved banners. With each banner, it is almost a proclamation of the event you are attending. The banners can announce names, and even the reason for the event.
Since I will turning a tad over 40 this year, I need to have a banner announcing it. As luck will have it, the June 2016 Paper Pumpkin kit “Banner Surprise” is a banner and card making kit in one!
This month is a complete kit that makes banners and cards that is appropriately titled “Banner Surprise”.
Each month I look forward to the 10 by 6.5 red box, and this month was no different. Each month the kit comes complete with the items you need to create the project for the month. Included in this months box was the following:
- Banner Surprise Photopolymer Stamp Set
- Mint Macaroon Classic Stampin’ Spot Ink
- Tip Top Taupe Classic Stampin’ Spot Ink
- 6 printed card bases
- 6 mint bags/envelopes
- 35 triangular cellophane bags
- 3 sheets of die-cut circles
- 2 sheets of gold foil stickers
- 2 bags of assorted sequins
- 4 yards of washi tape
- 8 yards of white bakers twine
Included with each box are written instructions with full-color photos but also there is an instructional video available (Online Instructions) to help you complete the project each month.
This months stamp included stamps that are geared towards the occasions that occur throughout the year. The set includes birthday, anniversary, graduation and shower. Also included are the accompanying stamps that say happy and day. There are also 2 circle stamps that will add some dimension to your project. These 9 clear polymer stamps are perfect for the summer occasions. Included was a stamp pad in Mint Macaroon, which is a green and Tip Top Taupe which is a brown that coordinates well with the green.
The idea behind this months kit is that when completed you can present the recipient with a banner and birthday card. The kit comes with pre-punched circles and gold lettering that you can place in the included triangle cellophane bags. The stamps add a circle pattern to the border of the circle.
The kit included confetti to place in the envelopes that give it a very celebration feel. I only used a small pinch of the circle and star shapes and that made it fill adequately.
I will be honest and say that the instructions could have been a little clearer – I had a great amount of trial and error when I was wrapping the banner around the card. Since I had such a frustrating time with their instructions I went on my own design and adhered the banner to the card.
The end result is a card and banner, once the banner is untied, you have a cute functional banner.
Despite the frustration this was a really cute kit and I love that I have a banner for my upcoming birthday celebration. The gender neutral aspect of this kit makes it appropriate for males or females, young to old.
Paper Pumpkin by Stampin’ Up boxes are available for $19.95/month, $59.85/3 months, $113.70/6 months and $215.40/12 months and the shipping is included in the cost. The 6-month is a total savings of about $6, about a $1 a month savings and the 12-month is total savings of about $24, about a $2 a month savings thus ends up totaling the amount of receiving one kit free.
