Howl: Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book – Blue Star Master Collection Review and Giveaway
When Jason and I used to live on a road much emptier than the busy road that we now live on. There was something calm and tranquil hearing the coyotes and crickets as we fell asleep.
Looking back I think my favorite sound was the howl of the coyotes. There was a special bark that they would make which would signal the acquisition of a meal. This became a common sound, and in time I found myself rooting for the howling creatures, despite knowing the kill was an unsuspecting animal or family pet.
When I received a copy of Howl: Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book from the Blue Star Master Collection by Katy Lipscomb I was reminded of those long nights listening to the howls outside.
Howl: Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book from the Blue Star Master Collection by Katy Lipscomb contains over 30 images of wolves howling. This coloring book is full of hand-drawn images featuring wolves in a howl pose, howling at the moon.
This book from the Master Collection is bound like a traditional book, and has quotes about wolves and the howl throughout. Also included is a page that explains color blending and color ideas. Although the book, does not lie flat, this does not affects the book, and in fact gives you the feeling you are coloring in an exclusive and high quality coloring book.
If you want the book to lie flat you can open the book and press down on the interior spine, which will then create a crease that will let the book be flat. Otherwise the book will not stay open on its own and you will have to either weigh the opposite down while coloring. The worst that happens is that it makes coloring a little more challenging.
I would recommend not removing the pages, as once colored you will end up with a nice book that will be appropriate for a shelf, coffee table or even a gift for a wold lover. If you want to remove the pages take care when removing the pages. I use my typical recommendation which is to be cautious when tearing or removing the page or use a cutting device such as scissors or a craft knife to get the page out. Many of the pages cut close to the binding so take extra care when removing pages.
The paper used in this book is a bit thicker than other “Non-Master Collection” Blue Star coloring books. Despite this I would still recommend placing a piece of paper under the page to be colored to avoid bleeding through to other pages. This also will assist in the prevention of creating impressions on the following pages.
I loved this book and it brought back many happy memories and sounds. As much as I miss that ubiquitous howl of the coyotes, I have the memories. If I am being honest sometimes while looking at the moon, on quiet nights, you may hear me howl!
