Doodle Emporium: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book Review and Giveaway
I remember in junior high I had to take an art class. At the time there was little I looked forward to in this class other than being able to use my new colored pencils and crayons I received each new school year.
During these art classes, with students that I had known since I was a paste eater, were now more creative than myself. I tried to draw a self portrait and it came out looking as though I was actually drawing a new alien species. The assignments would range from home drawing similar to a intro to interior design drawing all the way to free form drawing. To say the least, in my eyes, they had bucket loads of art experience over my inexperience.
There was one type of drawing that I excelled at and that was doodling. There was something simple, yet filled with opportunities contained in those doodles. I have always had an infinity to doodles so when I saw the adult coloring book Doodle Emporium: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Lori Geisler I knew that I would enjoy the pages. Doodle Emporium: A Stress Relieving Adult Coloring Book by Lori Geisler contains 34 doodle themed drawings that are just waiting for color. Each doodle in this coloring book range in thickness and theme. The images in the book range from doodle inspired butterflies to doodle filled flowers and even a cat
Doodles are a great way to let your mind wander and relax. Many times doodles can also pass the time when you are on the phone waiting, or when you are talking to a friend and just want to create doodles.
If there is a downside to the doodle wonderland, the books does not lie flat. If you open the book wide and press down on the interior spine you might be able to crack the binding, otherwise the book will not stay open on it’s own and making coloring a little more challenging.
If you want to remove the pages please note that the book is binded much like traditional books are, so take care when removing the pages. I use my typical recommendation which is to be cautious when tearing or removing the page or use a cutting device such as scissors or a craft knife to get the page out. Many of the pages cut close to the binding so take extra care when removing pages.

My usual recommendation applies for this doodle fest.I placed a piece of paper under the page I was coloring to avoid bleeding through to other pages or creating impressions on the following pages. I used a simple set of washable markers, which worked well since I also colored my shirt. I am finally learning that i need to let the ink dry on the image before I close the book, although I did notice I forgot. If you do not let the image dry you run the risks of smudging your piece of art.

I look back on those art classes and while I perceived my peers were better artists, that proved not to be the case. I realized that the problem was that I had not discovered my specialty in the art world – it ended up being doodles. As it turns out I am a doodle master – I guess it is all that time I spent on the phone – gave me plenty of doodle time.
