Avery Elle Alphabet Stamp Set and Ink Review and Giveaway
As regular readers can attest, I love to not only send but receive a handmade card. About 6 years ago, I decided that I wanted to have a gathering for my birthday (for those keeping track it was my 35th birthday). I decided that I could have purchased invitations but decided that a handmade invite would be a good way to go.
The handmade cards had a floral theme and by making the cards myself, it was ensuring that the people I invited were truly the people I cared about. The important thing to know about me is that I am very careful and sensitive to the who I send my handmade items to. I spend time, money and love in each project so I tend to share them with the people I know will appreciate the effort involved.
When I was at the Craft and Hobby Show I came across a stamp company called Avery Elle, that also happens to be headquartered in my hometown, San Diego. When I saw the stamps displayed I knew that I had to share with you all, my new find.
I was given the opportunity to make a selection from the extensive collection on the Avery Elle website. The first thing that I noticed when I landed on the homepage was they had a scroll through gallery of 4 pictures featuring their new products, which piqued my interest and made me want to look further. The categories were listed clearly on the left hand side, and the pages loaded quickly and clearly. I will warn you that you can easily spend some serious time looking at all the stamps on the site, so be warned.
Let me start by telling you that if you have never been to the Avery Elle website, please go and give it a look. I had a hard time making my selection, but I finally settled on the Avery’s Alphas Clear Stamp with 2 Pigment Ink Pads in Mermaid and Jungle colors.
The Avery’s Alphas Clear Stamp’s are a clear photo-polymer stamp. These are on a 4 by 6 plastic sheet with an outline that allows you to replace the letter in its original location. Each USA made stamp rectangle shape measures about 1″ inch (1/2 x 7/8). The shape allows easy mounting on a clear block and I was able to fit up to 5 letters on my block.
The 2 Pigment Ink Pads in Mermaid and Jungle colors were perfect since I live at the beach, and my new favorite colors are ocean themed in a blue and green shade. These are pigment ink pads which means that this ink will resist fading, is a thicker ink that sits on top of the paper instead of absorbing into the paper. The Mermaid is a shade of teal green and Jungle is a dark green. These water based inks are fast drying, embossable, acid-free and non-toxic. Sadly these are not made int e US, but are made in Taiwan. The size of these stamps were perfect for the letters and each time I pressed I had a nice coat of ink to stamp with.
What I really liked about Avery Elle was the range of versatility that shipping on the site while remaining cohesive with the stamping theme. On the site you can find not only the stamps, nut the ink pad (pigment and dye-ink available), patterned paper, note cards, and envelopes. In addition they sell storage, and embellishments like bakers twin and sequins. The stamp;s available come in images (including holiday), sentiments, as well as alphabet and numbers.
I think back to my birthday and think that these stamps would have provided the perfect lettering for the envelopes. I decided to make a couple of “Thank you” cards, since I am constantly sending a thank you or two and they ended up perfect!
If you are looking for a cute, high quality stamp company this is the company for you.
