Coloring Flower Mandalas: 30 Hand-Drawn Designs for Mindful Relaxation Review and Giveaway

Coloring Flower MandalasGrowing up in California I have been lucky enough to have sun and flowers around me nearly year round. I live close to a flower field, and lucky for us, it is on our regular drive most days. When the flowers are in bloom it is a beautiful and breath-taking and a miracle of nature. The colors range from reds, to oranges, blues, purples and my favorite – the yellows. I will admit that the flowers do get my attention and sometimes can lose me in thought.

With the growing trend of adult coloring books I love to see a flower and mandalas themed book. The book entitled Coloring Flower Mandalas: 30 Hand-Drawn Designs for Mindful Relaxation by Wendy Piersall takes the combination of flowers and mandalas and makes them one gorgeous image!

Coloring Flower Mandalas: 30 Hand-Drawn Designs for Mindful Relaxation by Wendy Piersall is a perfect combination of mandalas with flowers.

Flower Mandala CollageEach of these hand-drawn pictures that are throughout this book include orchids, roses, gardenias, vines, lilies, tulips, sunflowers, lotuses marigolds and poppies. Each of the 30 drawings are on one side of the page only. It is important to mention that the pages are not perforated, so please take care if you plan to remove the pages. While this book smaller than the typical size – 7 ½” x 9 ¼”, the smaller size fits well with the varying design sizes.

As with the other books by Wendy Piersall, I have a couple of recommendations in regards to coloring in this book. My first recommendation is I would make is that you use either fine tipped pens, colored pencils or well shaved crayons. There are thin lines and I think that crayons would make this easier and less frustrating. My second recommendation is to place a piece of paper in between each page to guard not only against bleed through from the pen use, but also any indents on the other pages that can be caused by pressing down to hard on the page.

I am not sure where this trend came into popularity but I am loving the throw back to my childhood. I had forgotten how much I loved to color, and each of these books reminds me. I find relaxation and joy in coloring – If you want the same feeling this is book for you!

I guess I would say a rose but I just love all flowers. They are beautiful, unique and smell good.

  3. Cindy Peterson

It is unfair to ask for a favorite flower, too many beautiful choices. I will say orchids. They forever remind me of my Mom.

My favorite flower is a Gerbera Daisy. When I was little I used to help my dad plant the seeds from the actual flower that had died. It was a bit painstaking but to see the results were well worth it. He and I alike always liked the ones with the dark eyes the most or the ones with the darker color eye. They are beautiful and my mom and I now continue planting them. They are not supposed to come back around here in Va but she covers them with hay and about 50% of them do. It is like an Easter Egg Hunt except for flowers in the spring. We love it and the flowers.

I love rose of sharon. I have it tattooed on my shoulder and it has my grandmother’s name in that that passed away in 2003.
